7139665 tn?1388442630 My new doctor (since November 2013) told me that given my symptoms even though my thyroid levels are not too crazy, she wants to put me on thyroid medicine. I would love to hear what other people with thyroid issues think about this. Do you think that's a good idea? Did/Does anyone have a similar story to mine? Do you have any questions and/or suggestions? If I take the medicine for a while, will I become dependent on it?
Avatar f tn has her thyroid gland been treated?
Avatar n tn any connection between a woman taking armour thyroid hormone while pregnant resulting in the birth of a homosexual baby?
Avatar n tn What i have found out from searching the net is that when we make antibodies to yeast or things that look like yeast, we also somehow attack our thyroid or thyroid hormones. Getting rid of the yeast hypersensitivity that way gets rid of hashimoto's. What do you think guys? Please read and comment! I know there is lots of info, maybe too much, but i dont want to miss telling you anything. Anyways, here are the info and links. Enjoy!
Avatar n tn I was shocked when I went in for a routine physical and discovered that I was hyperthyroid. I had lost some weight, yes, but was trying. The big difference was that I began eating Activa yogurt wtih bifides regularis bacteria. I loved it and could tell it speeded up my metabolism as I was not constipated. I started losing weight and was thrilled. Now the blood tests say I have "hyperthyroidism." I'm just wondering if there is a connection and I have a weird side effect.
Avatar f tn ve always had these issues even before thyroid but they have been increased since thyroid.. maybe because thyroid has slowed my digestive system.. This is really interesting stuff.. I wonder if prilosec will cure my heart stuff? hmmm The following was cut and pasted from archives in the GI and heart section: WOW ....I just had surgery for hiatal hernia and gallbladder and the symptoms you describe are the exact ones I had !!!!!!! It sounds like an esophageal spasm ...feels just like the heart.
Avatar f tn Would make sure you are not on too much thyroid medication -- excessive thyroid hormone (from the thyroid itself or from medications) can cause heart palpitations and possibly atrial fibrillation which increases the risk of stroke. You need to look at your TSH level to make sure it is in the normal range. A cardiology evaluation may also be appropriate to make sure there is not a problem with the heart as it may have nothing to do with your history of thyroid disease.
Avatar f tn People who have one type of autoimmune condition are much more likely to develop another. Both thyroid and diabetes have autoimmune connection so they are often seen together. Also as we get older we are more prone to diabetes, and if we are heavier we may also be more prone (I don't know if that applies to you). However, proper medication and thyroid levels are critical to optimising your management of diabetes.
Avatar f tn New research indicates a gluten/thryoid disease connection. That gluten intolerance caused the thyroid disease. When gluten seeps out of the leaky gut, then the antibodies attack it as a foreign invader. The thyroid gland resembles the molecular structure of gluten and soon the antibodies attack the thyroid as well. Since giving up gluten, I do not have antibody attacks and I have cut my dependency on thyroid hormones and I feel GREAT! Yes, my thyroid is working again.
Avatar n tn Hi there Edad. I don't know what it is, but I'm betting it's not a yeast infection, because econazole treats that too. I'd follow up with your doc and tell him that you aren't seeing any improvement. The doc will probably prescribe something else, or give you a referral to a dermatologist. What kind of GI problems do you have? I don't know of any connection between the two conditions, but then again, I'm no doctor. Morgannon P.S.
Avatar f tn About 5 weeks ago I had unprotected sex with a man who claims he is HIV negative. It was one time. Oral was also exchanged on both ends. About 2 weeks after the encounter I had what I thought was a bad yeast infection. I have had them in the past but it wouldn't go away after over the counter treatment. I went into my doctor and discovered I had HSV 1 of the genitals which was transmitted via oral sex or had been laying dormant in my system. I was treated for that with valtrex.
Avatar n tn After the gyno said it was just an allergic reaction from scented tampons and all my STD/yeast test was good... I left the country. Since the end of aug I have had what feels like a yeast infection coupled with days of extreme swelling/redness/itching and other days when my clitoral hood is just super irritated and chapped. I have been in a lot of discomfort down there but was re assured by my gyno it was just irritation that would pass.
Avatar n tn Get the book called "The Yeast Connection" by William G Crook. It has kinds of info on Candida and diets as well. It is worth while reading for those that have Candida. You can read about the book and comments by going to Amazon.com and typing in "The Yeast Connection".
Avatar n tn what is the connection between the thyroid and the brain and yhe sympton to star taken levothryroxin 50mcg
Avatar n tn It sounds like you could have a low grade yeast infection or even an allergy. If you have a yeast infection, you may want to consider looking into a candida diet (link below). This diet has been helpful in people who have chronic health conditions anyway, so I highly recommend it: http://altmedicine.about.com/od/popularhealthdiets/a/candida_foods1.htm Also, I know of a natural formula that targets yeast. If you are interested, let me know and I will send you the link via PM (private message).
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem (hypothyroidism) 13 yeas before the other.
Avatar f tn m suffering from insomnia and my eyesight has gotten progressively worse, especially this last year. Is there a possible connection between a thyroid disorder and deterioration of eyesight? I have a few of the classical hypothyroiditis symptoms (dry skin, occasional depression, brittle nails, memory problems) that are listed. Which tests should I pursue.
Avatar m tn I myself have posted before, and have seen others also post question pertaining to having Mononucleosis (caused by the Epstein-Barr Virus), either recently or in the past, and if it contributed or caused their thyroid issues. And the more I read and research, there does appear to be a connection. I know that personally, I had some underlying symptoms of being hypothyroid leading up to me contracting mono last fall…but the vast majority of my symptoms began after the mono!
Avatar n tn Levels might relate to Adrenal Fatigue, other non-thyroid problems such as allergies, hormonal imbalance, yeast, etc. Depending on your FT-3 in which you did not list for whatever reason, might suggest hypothyroidism due to low pituitary function. An Endo. might be a good idea.
194838 tn?1303428544 I lost 20 lbs, but I had no backpain, stomach burning that I also had, or migraine headaches. He published several books, one The Yeast Connection about patients. This is on alternative treatment that did work for me. After 2 or 3 years I slid back into my old eating habits. I have had some nystatin powder for the mouth sores from chemo, and it did work on them too. I wonder if there is a connection.
1018183 tn?1252271790 I think what is often diagnosed as fibro is often thyroid. In fact, I often wonder is fibro is a real disease...thyroid is usually the culprit.
Avatar f tn ve been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
148532 tn?1216640562 When you go back and look at the people who developed thyroid disease, they all had anti thyroid antibodies BEFORE treatment! What this means is that if fibromyalgia is an immune mediated disease, then interferon can make it happen sooner than it would have anyway. One tough disease, followed by another is difficult to comprehend. Good luck!
