Avatar n tn Make sure your thyroid levels are normal as this may be cause of headaches. Also, XRT tends to make eating/swallowing more difficult so make sure you stay hydrated and with adequate nutrition.
Avatar f tn This is a complicated situation -- the fact that you have already had XRT puts your thyroid cancer into a different class than usual as most patients do not need this. Usually it is a one-time treatment and not repeated. Thyrogen stimulated PET/CT makes sense -- would not withdraw from thyroid hormone only for this test --(and the thyroglobulin) -- especially since I-131 treatment does not seem to benefit your situation AND you need to study.
Avatar f tn I had DCIS near the nipple 2 years ago and underwent XRT to 5000 cGy. I now had a mammogram and they found numerous microcalcifications again in a different area of the breast UOQ. Can my breast be reirradiated. This discussion is related to Radiation therapy only for DCIS.
Avatar f tn Right segmental mastectomy, removal of 12 lymph nodes and with F/U chemo and XRT. since then I have never had lymphedema in my right arm or hand only in my breast. Now I have swollen hand and arm with redness at the antecubital and a lump above antecubital. Why now after so many years? I have also recently had shingles on right abd, severe pressure in RUQ and pain in my ribs and whenI raise my arm. I do not feel swelling of lymph nodes under my arm.
Avatar n tn Currently he is taking 10 mg of Adderall XRT (the dose was lowered from 15 mg). Ever since he is on this medication he is showing increased signs of anxiety regarding food safety and some OCD traits (increased hand washing). His anxieties about his food possibly being poisoned are really affecting our home life and cause him true anguish. Is it possible that the medication is causing this dramatic increase in anxiety? What other meds could be used to help the ADHD aspect?
362809 tn?1233506554 I have one acquaintance who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer several years ago, but he only had a part of his thyroid removed and his follow-up has been much different than mine. Because your situation sounds so similar, I hope you continue posting your experiences. It at least makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one going through this process.
Avatar m tn 2022 My co-authors and I have recently completed and posted our third (and I think our best) paper on thyroid. It is posted on a thyroid patient advocacy site in the UK. The paper explains from a patient's perspective why the current standard of care for hypothyroidism is ineffective for the majority of cases, and why it needs so badly to be changed. I think hypothyroid patients will find it very useful for discussion with doctors when trying to get effective diagnosis and treatment.
Avatar n tn s metal, still other times a combination of odd smells. any relation to thyroid (number) testing at 131?
Avatar n tn Stress is any physical or emotional strain on the body. Stress often causes increased demand of thyroid hormones T4 and T3. It sounds like you need to increase your medication to keep up with demand.
Avatar m tn TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that it is totally inadequate as the sole diagnostic for thyroid issues. At best TSH is an indicator to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Of these Free T3 is the most important thyroid hormone because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions.
2079940 tn?1332099329 Before commenting further, please post your thyroid test results before starting on meds and also the latest thyroid tests and their reference ranges shown on the lab report.
2081448 tn?1332175961 I am 57 years old told my tsh is 4.92 am on 25 mg ot thyroid meds for 7 weeks...
Avatar n tn 6 generally would indicate that you are Hypo or Low Thyroid. If that actually says that the Free T4 is less than 0.4 then based upon most common reference ranges which are usually shown in parentheses after your test result It would further indicate that you are VERY Hypo. Could you type in the lab results exactly as they appear on the lab report. SOmething like: TSH 3.64 ( 0.3 - 3.
Avatar n tn I have all the symptoms of the under active thyroid but when I did my blood analysis I found out that My FT3 is 5pmol/L and FT4 is 12.23 pmol/L and the TSH is 2.42uIU/ml. Does this consider normal as I am a femal 32 years old. Another thing please my prolactin is 95.23 and the vitamin D is 8.97. My main problem that I am gaining so much weight in he past 2 years almost over 30 kilos.
Avatar m tn But with some people iodine can actually aggravated their thyroid. Most MD will pay no attention to iodine levels, much less ever test for it. Just why do you thing your allergic to levothyroxine? Some with Hoshimoto swing from hypo to hyper in the beginning - this calms down eventually.
Avatar f tn However, even accounting for individual lab differences, it looks like you are quite hyperthyroid. Given your high FT3 and FT4, I imagine you have lots of symptoms???
Avatar n tn Thyroid gland is diffusely hypoechoic and heterogeneous with hyperechoic bands. There is evidence of increased vascularity. the right lobe measured 5.5x2.7x2.2 cm the left lobe measured 5.4x2.8x2.1 cm thyroid isthmus is 0.5 cm in thickness. what does this mean?
Avatar m tn Heterogeneous echogenicity with some minimal cystic change at various levels is present in both thyroid lobes. Isthmus has similar appearance minus cystic change. The cystic collections are small, measuring less than 0.5 cm. The right lobe measures 6.1 x 1.7 x 2.6 cm in the left measures 5.9 x 2.1 x 2.0 cm. No dominant solid nodule is identified. What does this all mean? I meet with doctor later this week but anxious.
Avatar n tn My thyroid numbers are always within range but I have a few nodules and just had a thyroid biopsy which was clean... so we are watching it... Sorry to hear of your ongoing issues but PIS is a real roller coaster! My main symptoms are a real bugger but some others come and go. Stress is a real trigger. I think more experienced will answer but giving more details on your endo info may help.

Avatar f tn I just had my thyroid tested for the first time. My results came back on the very low end of normal. Has anyone else had experience with this/information about this. I am 14 weeks pregnant and very worried!
Avatar f tn Just had blood work done and had the thyroid came back normal . Had the TSH W/reflex to FT4 and results were normal 1.29 does this mean my thyroid was normal . Have heart palpitations and feel sluggish should there but other tests done on thyroid ?
Avatar f tn Theoretically I suppose it is possible that you could have Hashi's antibodies attacking your thyroid gland, and diminishing the output of thyroid hormone which should cause the TSH to keep rising, and at the same time have a dysfunction in the hypothalamus/pituitary systemwhich could prevent the TSH from rising as it would otherwise. This would still be called primary hypothyroidism because of the Hashi's antibodies.
