Avatar n tn This TSH is the signal which tells the thyroid gland to produce more thyroid hormone. The less thyroid hormone in the blood, the MORE TSH hormone the pituitary gland puts out. So as for your thyroid gland not producing any or enough hormone to be put into the bloodstream thus you would have high levels of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). So What I think MAY be happening is that you have high TSH levels which equates to LOW thyroid hormone in the blood.
Avatar m tn If you have solid proof your D is low - I would certainly check that out and get that back in shape then retest thyroid and see if things get better with symptoms.
Avatar n tn I went in for a biopsy and was told that my thyroid levels were 11.07, My doctor never checked with anything regarding the MRI she just put me on medication and now I was told that I had to take it for the rest of my life and I would be able to ever come off it. What if they were wrong to put me on Medication, could I stop the medication to check and see if It was thyroid or it that the end, I'll have to take it for ever, Im confused. My levels right now are 2.02 with .
Avatar f tn I went to my patient advocate in the hospital where I had my first two lousy endos who said nothing was wrong with my thyroid. My advocate helped me get an appointment with an endo off base. New endo fumbled around with my goiter/nodules for four months until the wonderful people on this forum told me to request the thryoid tests I mentioned. Then we discovered Hashimoto's because of my elevated TPOab. Now, I'm with an endo who actually knows how to treat my disease.
Avatar f tn Breathing, chocking, coughing problems are related to thyroid nodual, most of us with goiter and or noduals suffer this.. A endo would be a good choice:) with the fatigue have you had your thyroid levels done..blood work..
Avatar n tn Hi Laura, Thank you for the reply. I really was confused about this, because I was under the assumption that to have thyroid symptoms you must have abnormal TSH levels. Mine fall all within normal range with the exception of the TPO test. I have had a multitude of tests to rule out other issues (ie. sigmoidoscopy, endoscopy, gastric emptying test, abdominal ultrasound, transvaginal ultrasound, abdominal/pelvic cat scan, numerous blood tests).
Avatar f tn If ANA and TPO is high, then Hashimotos thyroidis should be ruled out and you should undergo a complete thyroid profile to even rule out hypothyroidism as you are not having your periods. ALT can also rise in thyroid disorders. Hence instead of lupus, the focus should be on thyroid disorder. You need to consult an endocrine specialist. Take care!
Avatar f tn s TSH production or some problem with thyroid gland not responding correctly to TSH value. In such cases its common to see hyperthyroid symptoms appearing when on thyroid medicine but it doesn't always mean not require any thyroid medication. Look for the symptoms when on medication, do you sleeping more during day? feeling cold? etc it may not appear suddenly when stop medication but only after some 1 month or so as T4 have high half life.
712171 tn?1233921206 They treated the thyroid problem with thyroid hormone supressing drugs, but they had me on too high a dosage. I ended up becoming hypothyroid and was eventually taken off all thyroid medication. I was fine for a couple years, then 2 years ago I became hyperthyroid again. I went back on the thyroid medication, but on a lower dosage. In the past 6 months I've noticed a huge change in myself and am experiencing many symptoms of being hypothyroid again.
Avatar f tn My ultrasound results were: The thyroid is diffusely heterogeneous in echotexture with the right thyroid lobe measuring 4.4 cm in length x 1.5 cm AP x 1.3 cm respectively. No focal lesions are identified. The isthmus is mildly thickened and measures 3mm AP. The thyroid gland is mildly hyperemic. I am really getting no help from the VA. I went to a military doc for help to get this test done. Now they want me to wait for a month to see a doc to go over results. This is nerve racking.
Avatar f tn I thought maybe it was the side effects of an IUD I had inserted so I went to my OBGYN and he ordered bloodwork that said my thyroid was the problem. I went to an endo and here are the latest results. TSH 0.031 uIU/ml FT4 1.18 ng/dl T3 4.5H pg/mL My questions are what does this mean and is the IT scan really necessary? I currently breastfeed my 6month old. I told the endo that and he said that I would have to stop for a week.
Avatar f tn I had several thyrodial duct cysts removed, and I believe something was corrected with my thyroid gland. When I was diagnosed with Hashimotos last June, I researched that procedure. Apparently I should've been monitored for thyroid problems and never was. Both of my parents are deceased and I don't know much more than that. Again, thank you both for your help. I will post my lab work as soon as it comes.
Avatar n tn right lobe of thyroid larger than left, 2 nodules noted in each lobe of the thyroid, possibly representing multinodular goiter. Blood results show T4, free - 1.5. Thyroglobulin antibodies <20 and TSH, 3rd generation - reference range. Can anybody tell me what is going on?????
Avatar n tn The above posters are right - hypothyroidism can cause high cholesterol. When I was dx'd hypo, my cholesterol was very high and my doctor wanted me to start on cholesterol meds right away.........I declined.. I knew that with a TSH of 55.51 and Free T4 of only 0.4, that I had no choice but to go on thyroid meds and hoped that once my thyroid got back in line, my cholesterol levels would too.......... I was right.
Avatar m tn I posted the following reply to your other post, before I noticed your new thread here. So here is the same info. Why are you sure the hives started from the thyroid med? Is it possible that the cause for being on Levo and Synthroid was that you were diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, with which the autoimmune system erroneously identifies the thyroid gland as foreign to the body and produces antibodies to attack and eventually destroy the gland?
Avatar n tn Hello, My question is regarding hypothyroidism and hydroxycut. I've ordered the Hydroxycut Instant Drink Packets and i'm wanting to know if they would potentially interact with my thyroid medication. I'm currently on 175 mcg of levoxyl. Also, i'm 21 years old and miserable with my weight. I exercise daily and eat help (i'm vegan) and nothing seems to help. My weight has jumped up to 156-165 lbs at 5'6. i'm always tired, lacking energy overall, and depressed.
