Avatar f tn Too little TSH indicates you have hyperthyroidism or over active thyroid, producing too much thyroid hormone - common symptoms are weight loss, diarrhea, hand tremors, fatigue, depression, rapid heart rate, palpitations, anxiety, hair loss.
Avatar n tn Hun, Get a different doc, you know, they are just ppl, and, as ppl, some are *sses, and some are not, Please have them do thyroid check!! Thyroid problems will cause depression, weight gain (or loss) as well as HAIR LOSS, i had a circular patch oh top of my head, and doc decided to check my thyroid, now i on synthroid, and hair grew back, emotions under control..
460185 tn?1326077772 Hi hon, Yes I remember your kitty and his situation! So you did shave him - I'm sure it made him much more comfortable. And no, it certainly doesn't sound trivial in the least. He's your friend and your baby, his well being is extremely important. It might just take longer to grow in in that area. You could try gently brushing the area, with a very soft brush to stimulate growth. I have had good results recently with something similar on the back of my cat Nighteyes.
Avatar n tn It would be very helpful if we could have a look at your thyroid related test results from the time you were feeling good, and also from the time when you dosage was reduced. You also need to know your test results from Aug. It is a good idea to always get a copy of blood test results and write on there how you were feeling at the time, and your med and supplement dosages. Those reports are a very useful history for future reference.
Avatar n tn have you had your thyroid checked? my aunt had the same thing and she had hypo thyroidism. :) it could just be a serious case of a skin fungus on your head. i would use selsum blue for a few days and see how that goes. if the hair loss doesn't stop after a week of using it, i would go to a doctor. have you been gaining weight? or do you notice rough dry patches anywhere else on your skin?
Avatar n tn I have this and it can cause irregular periods, acne, hair loss, facial hair or excess body hair, bloating or weight gain, insulin resistance, infertility, ovarian cysts and hormonal imbalances. I have had this for many years and it is treatable once you are aware of it. First of all you need to be tested just to be sure. Ask your OBGYN to test you for this. You don't necessarily have to have all symptoms. I belong to soulcysters.com and its very helpful.
Avatar f tn I started thin and gained 13 lbs in 13 weeks. Had every side effect but lose wt. And I always feel like I can lose a few lbs. Now after tx I'm on a diet. Good foods didn't taste good, cold and sweet and lots of carbs. Cookies, candy, ice cream. Veggies didn't taste good. Since meals were too much, snacking was what I did. Since I had this awful taste in my mouth, snacking took the bad taste away. Just my experience.
Avatar f tn my husband is getting ready to start treatment. i am wondering about hair loss. does this always happen? and does it come back after treatment?
Avatar f tn Stress, I would guess, could be a cause of hair loss-hey, it is for us!! It's a very good idea about keeping him in for a few days. He might drive ya nuts, though, but it would be worth it!! LOL. Thyroid issues could show up as constipation or diarrhea. And, you didn't mention whether there's been any weight changes. For peace of mind, I'd take him to the vet and ask for a thyroid test, and he's probably got more ideas as to some other possible causes!

Avatar f tn I am a 55 year old female with loss of hair on her forearms and eyebrows. I have a some thinning at the temples. My TSH is 2.570 - which my GP says is normal. He thinks hair loss may be a result of stress, however, I have not been under any more stress than normal life. I have had high cholesterol and osteoporosis for many years, which have not responded to meds. What do you think? Can you have a normal TSH and still have a thyroid issue?
Avatar f tn my numbers are: TSH 2.3 (.40-4.00); Free T4 .73 (.70-1.8); Free T3 3.1 (2.3-5.0) My doses: Tirosint 50 mcg.; Cytomel 12 mcg/day My thyroid was destroyed roughly 8 years ago; the only problems I have is hair loss and weight gain - I don't overeat, I exercise - I don't eat processed foods - I could eat 1200 calories a day - good calories and put on weight. I grow most of what I eat. Help! I am 65.
Avatar m tn I was having usual symptoms of hypothyroidism - fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, etc. Have been on Levothyroxine for several months now and have seen improvements in all symptoms except hair loss. I'm also on Plavix (due to a TIA), which I understand can also cause hair loss. I started on it shortly before beginning to exhibit thyroid symptons. I've had breast cancer, so can't take estrogen.
Avatar n tn org/posts/show/210 , that excessive amounts of cortisone can cause excessive thirst, excessive hunger, and hair loss. Taz (his name) has a great deal of hair loss the past few days. We have literally combed off 3 wal-mart bags full to the top of hair, and yet somehow he has no bald spots, no red spots, no skin bleeding, no cracking....etc.. He does have dandruff and has had staph infection of the skin before. Today we brought him to the vet to get checked and they say he's absolutely fine.
Avatar f tn I recently ordered mira hair oil as an attempt to stop the hair loss. Does this mean the hair loss is purely due to my thyroid, or could it be alopecia as I am losing hair practically from most of my body?
Avatar n tn Would test to make sure the thyroid levels are stable (TSH 0.5-2.5). The hair does not always grow back the same way after chemo. There are hair/nail vitamins that can be taken -- they are available over-the-counter -- it sometimes helps. The thyroid medication itself would not cause the hair problems -- but thyroid imbalance can contribute (ie if the levels aren't on target).
Avatar f tn Hello everyone I am here to ask a question about eyebrow hair loss. In November I noticed my left eyebrow started to thin and eventually by mid December the hair from the left side of my eye to the middle of the eyebrow is gone it looks like someone shaved it off. I am 24 years old and this has never happened before I'm actually a really hairy person. I still have not had the hair grow back and it's only the left eyebrow so far.
Avatar f tn 6 is normal but with symptoms, we would sometimes offer a trial of levothyroxine for this situation given the positive TPO antibody. The BCP only explains the high total T4. Weight loss will not automatically occur w/ thyroid medication, especially given that your thyroid levels are fairly normal to start with. Biotin (over the counter, 5000mcg) may help w/ the hair loss but any thing that is done for hair will take 2-3 months to not a difference.
Avatar f tn Most times the hair loss from alopecia can be fixed with the hair folicles being stimulated by cortisone cream for a few weeks. As much as I hate cortisone cream, I used it years ago after a haematoma (blow to the back of the head and blood clot) as my hair just wouldnt stop falling out. Within weeks it had grown back , it grew back short and spikey at first (fuzzy) but then grew back normal. Take Care and I hope your stress levels subside very soon for you.
