Avatar m tn m making too much thyroid and can either drop to 60 mg of Thyroid USP (but get if from someone else) or try Levothroxine. After reading Stop the Thyroid Madness, I feel my NP doesn't know what she's talking about. I feel trapped due to insurance. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn Generic forms are Levothyroxine sodium USP and L-thyroxine. There is still debate over whether generic thyroid supplements are as effective as thyroid brand name supplements.
Avatar f tn Get your blood panels ran for your hormones - cortisol and thyroid - If possible try and push for a saliva test.
Avatar f tn I did very well on it for many years 8-9 years; until this past summer. I got ahold of some generic USP thyroid because of the Armour shortage and had a bad reaction to it; Insominia; high blood pressure spikes and tingling in my head/face and across my chest. My Primary Dr. gave me a pack of Lexapro and I took one and had a horrible reaction with burning pains running through my nervous system and horrible diarrhea. I went to the ER because I got too weak and ill.
798555 tn?1292787551 It's actually a better form of USP thyroid than Armour right now. The filler in Armour is nasty Major right now was stopped from making the product b/c they were in exsistance AFTER the 1962 ammendment. sticks for us that like desiccated meds.
Avatar f tn This was the second time though they said it was high (last time was in June). I have been on thyroid meds for 18 years (since birth of my daughter). My med is Thyroid (USP) 120 mg. It is compounded. As for symptoms, well I don't have a lot of energy. I weigh 173, having gone down from 205 (June). I was put on Phentermine by the doctor to help with that, but I have stopped taking them.
Avatar n tn m convinced that something is acting on my thyroid. Anyway, I ran across these two natural supplements and wanted to see if anyone had tried either of them. Thanks in advance for your input!

Avatar n tn I am one of those (rare?) people who do well on Armour thyroid. In many forums, people complain about it being useless since the reformulation and switch to Erfa. However, I briefly tried Erfa as well and did not like it; it tended to make me hyper and I had to multi-dose it, whereas Armour can be taken once in the morning without problems.
