synthroid

474314 tn?1219345522 I am having my thyroid out (TT) soon. Has anyone who has had this procedure lost weight after the surgery and synthroid medication or am I in for more weight gain? Sheri Should I schedule Lap Band Surgery at the same time as my TT?
Avatar m tn I'm using Synthroid for weight loss and muscle growth whle training. Does anyone know - is it safe to buy Synthroid online in places like this? Too cheap and no prescription needed, so I'm not sure.
9595194 tn?1404749116 s understandable that she could easily have gained considerable weight, since the thyroid controls metabolism. Many of us have trouble controlling weight, even when we do take the med correctly. Ramifications if you don't do anything with this are very poor health, at best. Untreated hyperthyroidism causes the weight loss, diarrhea, irritability and hand tremors, rapid heart rate and palpitations.
Avatar n tn Synthroid is a "Pregnancy Category A." Which is safer than Tylenol (which is a "B"). But you should always confirm all medications with your doctor. Are you on Synthroid for thyroid issues or weight loss? He'd probably keep you on for thyroid problems, but with pregnancy, weight loss isn't safe.
Avatar f tn my thyroid levels are normal now and then taking synthroid causing weight loss and once i stop the medication i will no longer lose weight? One more question: Will i get back to my normal weight once the thyroid levels are normal without medcation?
Avatar f tn I am thinking on going on WW or Nutrisystem, but will I lose weight if my thyroid is still screwed up? I have low motility too when it comes to digestion too. Took the sitz test and an average person can poop out the beads in 2 days and it took 7 for me. What have other done? I am frustrated!
460348 tn?1213452322 Thanks Cheryl!! I just keep praying things will get better. Just can't understand the weight gain since my synthroid has been bumped up to 137mcg. Tired of being tired and tired of getting fat!!!!!!
Avatar n tn It has for me. I just have no appetite. I'm hoping that turns around once my levels are up!
Avatar n tn I recently had thyroid bloodwork done due to weight loss. I am 7 months post-partum and am breastfeeding. I am working at a pretty stressful job part-time (veterinarian) and probably not eating as much as I should. My TSH was actually high (10, unsure of the units) and fT4 was 0.97. My doctor could not feel a goiter. My doctor wants to start Synthroid, but I am worried that I will actually lose more weight if I do.
Avatar n tn I am 42 yrs old and my medications include Toprol, Simvistatin, and now recently added both Loestra and Synthroid 25 mg. for an enlarged thyroid. Since starting the BC and SYnthroid, I have gained about 10 lbs. I know that some of it is inactivity in the winter, but I don't normally gain like this. I started the Synthroid in November, and feel MUCH better.
Avatar f tn my dr had said this type of thyroid problem should cause weight loss, not gain....not seeing this at all...actually, total opposite....last night i joined the gym which i will start tonight....wondering if anyone found that taking this medication along with workouts at the gym have helped with the weight gain?
Avatar n tn You really need to know why the doctor has prescribed those dosage levels. What blood tests were run and what were the actual results? The most important test, in my opinion is free T3, followed by free T4 and then maybe TSH.
Avatar f tn Low energy, feelings of fatigue, anxiety, depression, mental fog, body aches and weight loss. Normal weight for me is 132 to 135. I am currently at 129 and I will drop to 125 over night. I have found bloodwork from 1999. Appears I have always been on the hyperthyroid side. Here is my bloodwork info that I have. 1999 TSH - 1.0 Everything else appears normal. In April 2010 - couple months after thyroidectomy TSH - 0.04, Free Thyroxine 1.15, Sept. 2010 TSH 0.02, T3 in normal range, T4 2.4.
Avatar m tn Do you guys have any explanation for the weight loss and reduction in testosterone levels? The loss in testosterone and weight is very large given the time span. What are some suggestions? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
927140 tn?1244210051 I think all of you should understand the difference between weight gain or loss from thyroid meds and the difference in how phentermine works before giving any information...most thyroid meds DO NOT HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS...IF IT DID..THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR THE LATTER....THYROID MEDS ARE NOT FOR WEIGHT LOSS....AND IF YOU THINK IT IS...DO YOUR RESEARCH WITH A QUALIFIED DOCTOR!!! NOT JUST A PILL PUSHER....IT WONT HAPPEN!!!!
Avatar f tn In which case your metabolism is affected and it becomes very difficult to lose and maintain weight loss. So please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.
