Avatar f tn I was wondering if there is any support group for ppl with incidently found thyroid nodules. This diagnosis creates a lot of anxiety and I am lookking for support. Looks like internet serves you with only horror stories. Thanks!
661497 tn?1227724461 He pretty much said that either way he is sure I will at least need my whole thyroid removed, if not some lymph nodes. So now, I AM FREAKING OUT!!! I have so many questions.... If they find there is in fact a problem with my lymph nodes, is this really bad? Does this make my survival rate go down? Does this mean it has spread? How could I have caught this sooner? I am very diligent about getting blood work done, seeing DR's regularly. No one caught this....
Avatar f tn I take 5 mg hydrocortosine with my thyroid. It has made a lot of my symptoms dissapear. Mainly the motion sickness. It does make me very hungry. I do not take a ton of it as it can quickly add weight. I take 5mg with my morning thyroid and 5mg with my afternoon thyroid.
1436343 tn?1283875331 Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroidism is a major cause of sudden spikes in weight. Your thyroid controls your metabolism and when it's not working right, your metabolism isn't working right either. I gained about 30 pounds in < 3 months when my thyroid quit working. Ask your doctor to test TSH, Free T3 and Free T4.
Avatar f tn I was operated in May for thyroid cancer..Today I have gone off all thyroid support medication and am scheduled for a full body in 15 days Sept. 15. My question is whether I can take vitamins during the period before my full body test? I am asking this because I have a stressful job and will need to be alert during this down period.
Avatar f tn So, I've been overweight my whole life and I started making changes for the last two years but I haven't totally idk given up my fat mind state. It's like because I've never been a healthy weight, I feel it's impossible for me to be that person. I get mad at myself because I know I can do it but I over think it and then start doubting myself because my real goal is so big about 80lbs. So, I haven't lost any weight because I stop myself, wow that's a real wake up call.
5628691 tn?1402506562 I mention these things, because I went from 115 pounds to 140 in less than 3 months and struggled with my weight for over a year, before finally being diagnosed with hypothyroidism and being started on replacement thyroid hormone. I was keeping my weight steady and even managing to lose a few pounds, when all of a sudden, it skyrocketed again and after struggling with it for nearly another year, I was recently diagnosed with insulin resistance.
Avatar f tn I was on half that dose and was so tired. You mentioned that your cold too. Have you had your thyroid checked? Feeling cold can be a side effect of low thyroid.
Avatar n tn I am a recovering bulimic myself (lasted on and off for about 7 years). I had quit several times only to go back to it. I kept quitting for everyone else and not myself. It wasn't until I quit because I wanted to that I finally did for good. I actually ended up with severe thyroid disease and now have heart problems because of the bulimia.
Avatar f tn Has any one had experience with adrenal support along with thyroid meds? Am I just supposed to stop the Synthroid before taking the adrenal support even though I have been on it in various doses for 3 years? HELP! Thanks for any info or advice you can give me.
Avatar f tn What I did find made a big change was when my thyroid hormone levels went back to normal. My thyroid was effected by my treatment from the very beginning of treatment. I have keep all my blood work and see that how I feel and my thyroid levels go hand in hand. So because it took 10 months for my thyroid to return to normal ...it only since last week I feel the effects of treatment are finally leaving. Hepatitis C treatment effects every part of your body.
256220 tn?1210935462 those of you know I did the 72 weeks ...I started having issues with my thyroid mid tx...and now post 7 months they now believe I have graves disease. I have been hyper for almost 1 year...tx options for this are difficult. I am having a radio I uptake scan done probably next week to confirm the dx. I had no prior thyroid issues pretx..any sound advise would be great or anyone else have the similiar thing happen? Feeling really down as of late..just want a seminormal feeling again...
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed today with a toxic nodule (producing excessive amounts of thyroid hormone) with the added bonus of additional, smaller nodules growing but for now, not producing. This toxic nodule has been with me and benign for years; it has just recently started misbehaving. My endocrinologist is saying I can use hyperthyroid meds to "wait-and-see" if they will treat the nodule as they would my thyroid.
Avatar f tn Armour thyroid and Nature Thyroid are both made from animal thyroid glands and as such some might consider them "natural". Well they are still manufactured and manipulated. But are from a natural base stock I guess. The synthetic hormones are chemically the same but are strictly man made from scratch. The magic is to find the right dose in the right combination of T4 and T3 that will get you free of symptoms. I say magic because it is not as simple as it sounds for some people.
Avatar f tn Hi - so nice to see a site with so many people helping each other, I need some of that! I'm a 49 year old stressed out single mom. A couple of months ago I noticed a lump in my neck, had a FNA and came back as benign hemorrhagic degenerative cyst. Then I noticed another lump on the lower right of my thyroid (didn't even know much about the thyroid before this)(other lump is upper left) my doc.
446896 tn?1237802742 thanks again to everyone who responded when I first posted awhile back about my blood pressure/Heart rate fears...all of your advice and support helped, and I am steadily trying to get over my BP fears. Here, however, is my latest scenario, and I'm just so distressed about it that I have to vent! A few years ago they discovered a very small solitary thyroid nodule. I went thru all the tests...even when my hubby was in Iraq, no less!...
Avatar f tn When you go to the MD, be sure to get a full panel blood test done including metabolic panel, DHEA, cortisol, Vit D and B12 along with the full panel of thyroid testing. Don't give up trying to get happy. Maybe switching meds will help. They usually Rx synthroid to most people. Make sure you get the real thing and not a generic. Generics can be inconsistent. I wish I could give more advice. Hang in there, things are bound to get better.
Avatar f tn I have read that I should give it two weeks but I am not sure I can take this. The new doc also had me start magnesium at night and adrenal support vitamins which I take in between my thyroid meds. I was so excited that I was going like so many others who got on Cytomel and life changed for the better. Any thoughts???
Avatar f tn I am attempting to add wheatgrass shots to my daily routine for general well being. I am currently dealing with some thyroid issues again, after several years of good health. (waiting for a referral to my wonderful endocrinologist who is in high demand!) I have Graves Disease, but recently gained a lot of weight after a miscarriage, despite normal diet/activity levels. (In the past I struggled to keep my weight up, not down!
446193 tn?1208833740 Each thyroid medicines have different fillers. Your body can react different each filler. Synthroid contains gluten and lactose. Levoxyl does not contain gluten of lactose. Synthroid is also known to cause mental issues, but again it could be the fillers in the meds. Find the meds and dosage you are comfortable with and stick with it. The doctors do not know what works for you until you tell them and then they will still guess at what to prescribe next.
Avatar f tn the fact is, i fear i am not going to succeed if i am alone, is there anyone who wants to keep in touch for support? that would be great to motivate each other and share tips and recipes!
Avatar f tn Have you had your thyroid levels checked and antibody test done and if so ..post them here so we can help support you. We need to know your FT3, FT4 and TSH. DONT get the normal T3 and T4 done as that is just a waste of time and a waste of money. You may thyroiditis but you need to get antibody testing for Graves Disease and hashi's. We will all support you along the way.
Avatar f tn Nodules detected by thyroid scans are classified as cold, hot, or warm. Thyroid cells absorb iodine so they can make thyroid hormone out of it. When radioactive iodine is given, a butterfly image will be obtained on x-ray film showing the outline of the thyroid. If a nodule is composed of cells that do not make thyroid hormone (don't absorb iodine), then it will appear "cold" on the x-ray film.
Avatar m tn And unless his thryoid has already been rendered useless, then over time the amount of thyroid hormone produced by his thyroid gland is or has likely reduced. Thus he needs to ensure that the medication dosage is increased to compensate for this loss of hormone. Also is taking DHEA something new? Is there or has there been a medical tested need to supplement with DHEA? Reason why I ask is that DHEA can cause aggressivness.
