Avatar f tn My family doctors sent me to have another thyroid scan on friday and she called me today and wanted me to make an appointment with my surgeon asap. I go tomorrow. My question is can they tell if the cancer is back thru the scan?
Avatar f tn I just had a Nuclear Scan on my thyroid where I took 2 pills of I-123 Iodine and my results were zero uptake on both scans. What does that mean? I know its not normal, way below in fact. I have hypothyrodism.
Avatar f tn ive managed to find somewhere to have a thyroid scan done against my doctors wishes. i have hashimotos but she said iam wasting my time as they will find nothing. last june a cousin of mine was also told the same but the scan did find two growing nodules which she has since had removed along with half her thyroid plus the isthmus.have any of you with hashimotos/under-active had the same and what were the results?
Avatar m tn Over the last 12 years she has been taking Levoxyl. Does an Uptake Scan determine whether she has Thyroid Cancer.
Avatar m tn If you mean that you were hyperthyroid after a scan, then there may be an underlying thyroid problem that resulted in over-production of thyroid hormone after an iodine load. Common culprits are Graves Disease and hot nodules.
Avatar m tn Can I ask, is your scan supposed to be "clean" without any uptake right after your first RAI? My scan had uptake in the neck only and my doctor called that normal.
Avatar f tn So he sent me for a radioactive uptake scan. The results came back saying that my thyroid is inflamed, causing the elevated levels of thyroid hormone in my blood. They said that it typically self corrects, but I need to be monitored by having my blood checked monthly to make sure levels are in the normal range. I'm honestly not buying this diagnosis, with the wait and see approach. I feel like crud and I want to be better!
454046 tn?1244565593 Not sure if RAI is done the same over the pond as it is here, but they did a body scan before my RAI that showed any and all remaining thyroid tissue. They did another about 5 days after the RAI, as well. Best of luck with it all - it's not an easy journey, I know. Keep us posted!!! Sending prayers your way!

Avatar f tn I'm having a baseline DEXA and thyroid scan this afternoon. I'm not worried, but do feel a little anxious. Looking forward to sharing results here soon. My understanding is that the results are quickly passed on to my doc so hopefully I'll get them tomorrow. Wish me luck!
2121656 tn?1395674749 Dr. Lupo, Thank you for your response and assistance. I greatly appreciate it. I am scheduled for another recheck for the TSH in May. I will also ask for a retest for the T4. However, my T3 level was never tested. When I requested, my Dr. said something to the effect that the T3 doesn't matter. I did receive a call from the Dr.
Avatar m tn I just had a thyroid scan done which showed. Small Hyperfunctioning nodule in the lateral aspect of the lower pole left lobe has enlarged since last scan 03/2010. 1139187 tn?1355706647 Hello i had a thyroid uptake scan today. I have not seen the results, but today i was told that the uptake was 1.1 and that was very low. Normal is 5 to 10. Can anyone tell me what this means exactly please?
Avatar f tn I am wondering why my doctor would still want a thyroid uptake scan even though all my blood work came back normal? In March my family doctor did a free t4 level that came back high, so he ordered an ultra sound and referred me to an endocrinologist. I had the ulta sound in March which showed a 6 mm nodule on my thyroid.
2121656 tn?1395674749 My understanding is that if my ultrasound was normal, there would be no concern of thyroid cancer and no reason for a thyroid scan. Am I correct? or am I missing something? Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Avatar f tn Initial exam showed very slight swelling of left side and additional symptoms such as night sweats, some tremors, slight weight loss, slight thinning of hair, higher elevation in both thyroid hormones, and racing heart which was suspected to be Graves Disease. We proceeded to have a thyroid scan done and results came back 100% normal (no medication was started before the scan either)? We proceeded with another blood test which came back one hormone normal - one only slightly elevated.
Avatar n tn The results from my Uptake and scan was 41.47% which is hyperthyroid, thyroid lobes enlarged with homogeneous trapping of radioiodine. Also, no photopenic area noted. What does all this mean. However, all my blood work is normal. My endo. says my thyroid is working fine but still wants to do a FNA for a left nodule that measures 1.2cm. Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn My thyroid test came back normal however the thyroid uptake scan, came back that I had Graves disease. The doctor is currently not doing anything. He believes that I do not have graves, but the scan was done three different times and each time it came back with the same thing. What do you suggust?

Avatar n tn I recently had a CT scan of the neck associated with tonsillitis. The scan noted/confirmed I had enlarged palentine tonsils and a small calcification of my left thyroid lobe. There was no mention of modules or masses. Associated issue, I was having discomfort in my right sublingual salivary gland and what I thought was intermittent pain of my lymph node under my rgiht jaw. Neither dentist or ENT found problem with salivary glands or lymph nodes. The CT scan seemed to confirm this.
Avatar n tn I was given a Thyroid scan before my treatment dose of RAI to see how much tissue was left after my thyroidectomy and to see where they wanted my treatment dose to go. This was done the day after my diagnostic dose was given and the day before my treatment dose was administered. They like to take a few pictures including the thyroid scan, WBS, etc. to get a good idea of the target of the treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi! I had a total thyroidectomy about 19 years ago due to papillary thyroid cancer. I just received a ct scan with contrast result that had this main impression " There is an 8mm hyperdense nodule in the pretreachial inlet...in the thyroid bed." What could this mean? I do have an appt. with an oncologist next week, but would really appreciate any insight you can give me. My lymph nodes are also slightly enlarged which was what prompted me to have it checked.
