Avatar n tn I have multiple nodules, biopsy came back benign ,but surgeon wants to do a partial removal of the thyroid. I was reading about laser removal of the nodules, but Spokane wa doesn't have any. Does Wa. state have any ent doctors that use laser to remove nodules. I have never had general surgery, it scares me. I was told there is no rush to have the surgery.
Avatar m tn I read through some of the thyroid removal link you posted and it seems to me the worst thing about thyroid removal is if your thyroid was working before removal. Going through the hypo state and getting meds right...I have already went through this and I guess to a certain point still am. Based on your replies and goolarra I am going to find someone for a second oppinion and see what comes of it.
Avatar m tn I spoke to my doctor who tells me I am a normal weight, and he does not consider that this was not my weight prior to thyroid removal. Now, I work out 6 days a week for 3 hours each day. I only eat 1000 calories a day, and I also take a fat burner. Still, I continue to gain weight or loose nothing. It is obvioulsy my thyroid as I have always been the skinniest person. I am so sick of this. What can be done to get me back to my normal size.

Avatar m tn I had the same concerns as you...especially the "post surg Complications". I had a TT on 12-17-09 and it took me two years to finally decide to do it. The important phase for me also was to find a surgeon which whom I was comfortable with, and it took three for me to make a decision. My scar is barely visible and it fits in the crease of my neck. The surgery went very well and it was about 3 hrs. My surgery was at 12pm and I went home th following morning.
Avatar n tn It was aspirated and found to not be cancerous. The right Thyroid measures 6.4x4.1x3.6cm. The right Thyroid lobe is enlarged. It contains an echogenic nodule with internal cyst measuring up to 5 cm. The left Thyroid lobe measures 4.7x1.3x1.2. It contains a 6 mm hypoechote nodule with internal echotexture. The isthmus measures 3mm. To avoid complications I would like to keep the left Thyroid intact. Any possibilities of this?
Avatar f tn I have also had my thyroid removed and you must go on replacement medicine. Your thyroid regulates everything in your body and when mine is off, I suffer from itchy skin, foggy memory/dementia, intolerance to cold/heat, irritability, etc. There are a wide variety of symptoms that she may experience. Her doctor should put her on a replacement immediately.

Avatar n tn There is also the question of the Recurrent Laryngeal Nerves running directly through the thyroid lobes, they have to be very careful...it is a delicate surgery. Some people with half a thyroid don't have to be medicated, about 40%, I think I read. I have no thyroid due to cancer, I am fine on medication. I had a lobectomy, and I felt great afterwards, but they did find cancer, so I am thyroid free.
