1327431 tn?1327072104 There is no normal range with thyroid, every person has an optimal range where the have no symptoms, the problem today with thyroid is that many mds still use an old reference range for TSH as an example, some go by .05 to 5.5, some 0.4 to 4.5 and the better one use .03 to 3.
1026267 tn?1257591273 So that means you are taking replacement thyroid hormone. The range you listed is the old range. Over 8 years ago the AACE recommended it should be revised to .3 - 3.0. Beyond that, TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables it is not very useful as a diagnostic. At best it should be considered as an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also, levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if my T4's are 99 and range is (0.82-1.77 ) whats a good range ? where should i be ?
Avatar f tn A tsh of 11 is too high, it's like a horse being whipped to make it run.... but after a while the horse will be exhausted and no matter how hard you whip it it can't run any more. The thyroid hormones being in range just mean that your thyroid is still coping, but only just. With a TSH of 11 you need to be started on thyroid meds already. Yes, TSH is an indicator hormone, but it tends to be a very good indication of hypothyroid when it is high.
Avatar f tn Hi I have many if not all symptoms of hypothyroidism, I have been tested a couple times and am told I am in range, in 2019 my TSH test was 1.49mIU range 0.340-5.600 / T4 free 1.04 ng/dL range .078-2.19ng/dL. Fast foreword to 2/22 TSH 0.72mcIU/mL. Range 0.37-4.68 mclU/mL. T4free 1.24 ng/dL. Range 0.87-2.19 ng/dL I have in the last 4 months lost 1/2 the hair I did have and still losing it by the handfuls, my fatigue is getting worse.
Avatar f tn FT3 and FT4 are the actual thyroid hormones, while TSH is a pituitary hormone and not indicative of actual thyroid hormone levels. Adequate thyroid hormones are essential to the growth and development of a baby; if your current doctor won't test the FT3 and FT4, you should find a different doctor. What thyroid disorder had you been diagnosed with? Do you know if you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?
Avatar m tn 1 i guess and the doc order both t3 and t4 test which came back normal not sure thw range but will get it next appointment so they rule out thyroid but the confusing thing is my. Cardio said it could be a thyroid problem but the endo was so confident it was not.i also did a Research where 6.
Avatar f tn t feel bad - I had symptoms for years and had, at least, 3 doctors that pegged me as hypochondriac, including the one who, ultimately, diagnosed me, after I begged for thyroid tests and my TSH came back at 55, with below range FT4... no doubt then. What about the other doctor? You said one says you have Hashimoto's... is s/he willing to do further testing? If not, you can order them online, yourself. It's not covered by insurance, but it's not that expensive, either.
Avatar f tn Why do some clinics still use the old standard TSH test range of .5-5.5 and why have they not changed. My TSH is at 3.4 and my Free T4 was at 1.2, antibodies were negative (.03 I think) and they did not do a Free T3. When I asked about a conversion problem she said that would have been detected as a child. What does that mean? She told me everything is normal. I am waiting for the written report which should come next week. I was told Mayo Clinic only recognizes the .5-5.5 range.
Avatar n tn yes, but it says the range is 1.53-3.85.
Avatar n tn value 2.08 nIU/ ml - Ref Range - 0.30 - 5.5 The report commented - Suggesting thyronormalcy. Pls guide how do I take it. Seek your advice. There's no family history of thyroid in my family.
9850462 tn?1406251527 3 mg/dl H range, 8.7-10.2. Today when I went, he said that my thyroid was 1% over the normal range. In 2 months I go back and he's ordered these tests: CBC w/ Diff w/Pit, TSH, Vitamin D, PTH. Help me understand what all this is Please. These are the blood work-up on the last time I had it done and the results. Hope you can see what's going on. Thank You, Barb.
15848200 tn?1456634289 Your FT4 is on the low side. It's 30% of range, and the target for FT4 is around 50%. Your FT3 wasn't tested, so we don't know what that's doing. FT3 is the test that correlates best with symptoms. AACE recommended many years ago that TSH range be changed to 0.3-3.0. As you can see, most labs and doctors have been very slow to adopt that "new", more reasonable range. According to the AACE range, your TSH would be above range, indicating hypo. Also, 3.
Avatar m tn A good thyroid doctor knows that just being in the bottom of the range isn't sufficient. However, there are a lot of bad thyroid doctors out there. Some only look at TSH, even if they order FT3 and FT4. Others think that all of us ought to be asymptomatic as long as we're in range...anywhere in range. And that's just not true. I may feel fine with your current labs, but you may have to be further up in the ranges to feel good.
Avatar f tn Also you should also post what the result was but also the reference range that is associated with the test as not all labs use the same reference range. The reference range is usually shown in parentheses to the right of the test result. If you do not have the lab test results please ask for it from your Dr. In the USA it is law that they have to provide you with the written tests results if you as them for it.
Avatar f tn i took a thyroid test in april which was 6 in range but my doc said no need to have medicine . and also my periods was regular . but now i m not having my periods from last 2 months . my gyni doc said wait for one more week . can it be increase in throid range . kindly help .
Avatar n tn A significantly over the top of range FT3 level of the biologically active Thyroid hormone like you have would normally result in a TSH that is very low and indicative of Hyper. Your TSH indicates if anything under-active and Hypo. Something is up and you need to determine what it is. If you are having Hyper symptoms then increasing Thyroid T4 and continuation of your Cytomel is COMPLETELY the wrong if not dangerous. So I assume you must still be Hypo symptomatic.
487889 tn?1232887189 Hey. I just got my TSH levels back after being on 50mcg lexoythyroin (synthroid) for 6 wks. When I started it my TSH was 3.76. It's now 0.85. I'm wondering if that's great, or a little on the low end now? Or should I just not worry about TSH levels and just got by how I'm feeling. So far, I don't feel any better. But, I don't think my problems have been thyroid related. Maybe a little. ANyway, any ideas?
