1812479 tn?1316868350 I find that once my thyroid levels got to where *I* need them to be (not just normal on the lab report), that my fatigue and body aches improved immensely. I also find that taking 200 mg magnesium daily helps with the body aches/pains. Have you had your vitamin B12 tested? Deficiency can cause horrible fatigue. You might also want to have vitamin D tested. If your thyroid medication is adjusted properly, there could be another reason for your symptoms.

Avatar m tn You can add a sweetener to it or just add the quinoa to salads, soups, regular rice, and yogurt, etc to have the benefit of quinoa plus it will not be bland. Quinoa is a 'grain' consisting of 8 essential amino acids (protein) which is the same as milk, plus it is gluten free (wheat -free). It is a great protein source for people who do not eat meat and it can be eaten in different methods as I stated above.
Avatar f tn I have read about hemp powder. Is there any negative things I should know about hemp?? I have thyroid issues so I stay away from soy powder. I have read it does not taste good, but I use organic brown rice powder in smoothies with plain almond milk and Ilike it- just looking for more protein. Is there any other organic protein rich powders you all have used any recommend? Thanks all.
Avatar f tn I have a yummy recipe for a quinoa enchilada bake. It has black beans, corn, cilantro, jalapeno, cheese, quinoa... Full of fiber and protein. If that is something that sounds pleasing to your taste buds I will be happy to post it. Pre-pregnancy I was a 3 BM/day because I eat a very clean diet. Some pregnancy... It reduce to 1/day if lucky. I made my quinoa... 2-4 times a day! I have also been having aversions with preparing meat so this met both of my needs.
Avatar m tn My worst trigger food has always been spaghetti, so I purchased gluten-free (brown rice/white rice/quinoa) spaghetti and ate it tonight. I have not had diarhea but I am having gas and bloating. What could be the issue? I had meat sauce. I enjoy tomatoes and had tacos with tomatoes last night (corn tortilla) with no issues. I'm just at a loss. I can also eat some hamburgers most often without issues.
1581788 tn?1340229715 You know what I love quinoa and I need to make some because I recently bought some more of it because it is a pure protein. I cook mine in vegetable stock. I love the red quinoa best. I saute onions and garlic and then I add it to the mix. I use some parmesan cheese added in there to and nutritional yeast. Now you are so making me hungry!! Today I am craving salmon patties.
1202943 tn?1347840652 Quinoa Corporation. Favorite bar is Larabar: Small Planet Foods. Oskri Fiber Bar, Cashews and Cranberries is amazing and has 12 gram of fiber. I'm pretty sure all these are GF, Soy free & Dairy free. :) I also love KIND bars!
Avatar m tn Wild rice, millet, quinoa (find useful cooking information and recipes for quinoa on care2.com under healthy living, then use key words to find the information about quinoa. Annie has some very good information about quinoa), amaranth, and teff are all options for a gluten-free diet. Have you already had the surgery? I do know of someone who is a long time survivor, and he is doing very well after many years.
Avatar m tn t think you need to avoid it entirely, but reducing portion sizes or considering brown rice (which has more fiber and might fill you up more) is a good idea! Another possibility is to consider quinoa, which has more protein and fiber, and few calories than rice.
Avatar n tn Another big food intolerance to consider is gluten intolerance. I think it is wise to test your son for Celiac. If it comes back negative, this is good news. But, a person can still be gluten intolerant without having Celiac. The treatment for it is the same either way, which is to avoid gluten and dairy, particularly cow's milk. I can't tolerate any kind of lactose, cow or goat. Your son seems to be displaying the classic symptoms of Celiac.
1464587 tn?1307491605 used on the same line, but I just use the whole quinoa. Also, quinoa has all the essential amino acids (which not all grains do), so it's good for you in that way too. There are lots of kinds of rice (which is also gluten-free) besides white and brown: I like red rice, which is tasty. Rice is a carbohydrate, but quinoa is not, so that should be okay, I'd think. Why only egg whites? Egg yolks have protein and lutein and other good things. If you want (need!
140029 tn?1393298142 Try this: Cook some brown rice, whichever kind you like. You can add flaxseed oil and a touch of sea salt and/or olive oil. Go easy on the oil, so you don't upset your stomach. You do need some healthy fat in the diet, and this is a good way to get a little bit with your first meal of the day. I use a sea salt called Real Salt. You can buy it in bulk at a health food or natural food store. Or, some places sell the same salt in various packages.
Avatar f tn Other grains to look for are quinoa (there are three colors of quinoa available), amaranth, buckwheat (not related to wheat at all) and hulled millet. Yes, millet is what birds eat, but the hulled millet found in the bulk foods department is meant for human consumption. If you can find a clean source that isn't too dusty, millet is good, too. I have found quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) to be very clean, plus it is higher in protein than the other grains. And, it's not from a grass.
Avatar n tn First, I'm not a doctor, but I don't believe fibromyalgia has a known cause or even a consensus set of symptoms -- it's a disease defined by symptoms, not a cause. But I don't believe menopause can "bring it on." That would imply it was a hormonally caused disorder, as that's the only change menopause brings on that would seem to be at issue. So I'm not sure this diagnosis is accurate or if it is the cause doesn't seem to be accurate.
514349 tn?1272801633 flax, quinoa, brown rice, chia, broccoli and daikon. Is there anything in them that should send a red flag?
8171562 tn?1408628833 Soup or chowder are always good. I do a creamy chicken and quinoa soup that is a crowd pleaser for my crew. It is simple and healthy. 1 chicken breast cut up and cooked in soup pot with a little olive oil, I like seasonings so here is my list: sea salt, pepper, granulated garlic, granulated onion, turmeric, and a little paprika.
Avatar n tn to add these sensations increase in evening and sometimes if i eat something different than my current diet which is just rice, quinoa, veggies, chick, fish. no raw food. i had some dried fruit and these prickling sensations increased big time. what's the relation. that's why i was wondering if this could be fungal candida related or something. i know sugar increases inflammation. so i'm wondering why eating can affect this.
Avatar f tn I just fired my Dr. She said : We generally just use the TSH (the brain hormone that tells the thyroid to work) to follow people's thyroid levels as it's more sensitive than the T3 or T4. If the TSH is abnormal, then the lab always does a T4. Your T3 has always been normal, so there's no need to keep repeating that. The thyroid antibody level is not helpful to follow as it's level has no bearing on how your thyroid is doing I now changed to an Internist. See him in November.
Avatar f tn t eat meat for awhile and found some really yummy options, like cheese lasagna or a bean and cheese quesadilla. Quinoa is also a really high protein grain.
Avatar f tn A partial answer, since I don't know all of what you have to avoid, would be that a diet based on the whole foods concept should help some. The whole foods concept is based on the idea of eating foods as close to how you get them from nature as possible without processing them. Going gluten free has helped several of my conditions, including pre-diabetes. I went gluten free for other health reasons and had many benefits.
Avatar n tn What about making your own shakes with fresh fruits and veggies and adding some quinoa or other natural protein source?
