Avatar n tn I know this since I have been doing alot of reading in the medical literature lately based on health problems in my family. I believe in going after the source and correcting the actual problem rather than allowing diseases to develop and be managed. As a research scientist, I am also data driven. As I mentioned,I have been doing alot of reading in the medical literature.
Avatar f tn t always accurate because the cancer can be in the thyroid tissue not the nodule. In my friends case they removed the thyroid first and checked it after, but we didn't want to have the surgery unless is was absolutely necessary.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have hypothyroidism and I'm pregnant with my 2nd. If they think your levels are off its an easy fix with medication. One pill a day. Untreated it can sometimes cause developmental delays in children. It's not uncommon for women to get it in pregnancy and for those with it it's likely to get worse.
597354 tn?1227197932 He has been diagnosed already with ADHD and is on meds for it (i hate that). My question is - do children have thyroid problems that young or is it usually later in life? It may sound like a stupid question to some people but I really don't know and I haven't had time to research it. I didn't really even consider that he could have a problem at such a young age. If this is possible, I want him tested immediately.
Avatar f tn d only test children if there were reasons (ie very strong family history) to do so or if they suspect thyroid problems (weight, energy issues, developmental issues)....
Avatar n tn We have a 13 yr. old neighbor girl who comes to visit when our granddaughters are here. I couldn't help but notice that her neck was puffy. In between where the lines are in her neck, it is puffy. Does she have cancer or something or a thyroid problem?
Avatar n tn s not, you just have to be 100% certain, because the standard serum tests only indicate circulating levels in the serum, not thyroid function in the cells!!!. (thyroid type 2) Just in diabetes 2, the pancreas produces insulin, yet there's insulin resistance. Does the doctor say that the patient is not diabetic, because of the circulating insulin levels are fine??? You can also do Dr.
454366 tn?1211245301 Monitoring the dosage is critical to proper lithium treatment. I have been on 300mg in the a.m., and 600mg in the p.m. and my liver and thyroid are both fine. I also take (in treatment of bipolar mania) 60mg Geodon 2x's daily, 1mg Ativan 3X a day, and .25mg Xanax 3X daily (as needed). Since I increased my Geodon to twice daily, I feel like a new person. The lithium is the most benign of my drugs. It's the Geodon I hate.
Avatar f tn We also have found out that 3 women in our church and that live in our area also have thyroid nodules (they are all under 40). None of these people had thyroid problems before and we all moved to this area 5 years ago. Do I need to worry that there is something in our environment that is causing these nodules. Two out of the five so far are cancerous.
Avatar f tn When her meds are not high enough and her thyroid hormones are unbalanced (high t4 with low t3) I have seen the air hunger in her (especially when trying to exercise. The excessive yawning is also a way for the body to get air and is seen sometimes. Are the girls having any other symptoms? (constipation, moodiness, weight gain, excessivly hungry, forgetfulness, cries without knowing why, heart palpatations, issues w/body temp., issues with sleep, muscle or joint pain etc...
Avatar f tn You have to admit that it is a little wierd that all 3 children have thyroid problems at such an early age! Please share any advice you can give me.
Avatar m tn All I can tell you is, I was born w/out a thyroid gland (the only one in all of my family trees) to have this problem. My children were born healthy and all their organs in place, including working thyroids. I don't think hypo or hyper thyroid is inherited. If a child is born with or in early stages of infancy begin to show symptoms of thyroid issues (Downe's syndrome/Mongoloid..
Avatar f tn hi iam a mother of 5 months baby girl.i has taken my baby for thyroid test and the result as follows,t3-124,t4-7.40,tsh-1.86.
Avatar f tn //thyroid.about.com/b/2006/01/16/symptoms-of-thyroid-problems-in-children.htm I do not think I have breached Medhelp policy because the site is not selling anything. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I've been diagnosed with sub clinical hypothyroidism and was then sent to get a thyroid ultrasound. The ultrasound showed a diffusely mildly inhomogeneous thyroid gland with the right lobe larger than the left and a small colloid nodule in the right lobe. the nodule measures about 0.5x0.2 cm. My TSH levels were around 7.34 in my blood test last month and after taking vitamin b12, D and iron has been reduced to a normal level of 4.79.
805647 tn?1238079141 As many on here, I am searching for answers that probably only time will tell. I have had no thyroid problems and my blood levels are fine. I am very concerned with all of the blogs I have read about losing control of myself post surgery. I have 2 young children and don't want to fall in to a deep depression. The Doc says no but these blogs say otherwise, any uplifting advise you can give, will be wonderful!
Avatar n tn Actually most Thyroid Diseases have the emotional side to them. That's why we all feel so isolated. It's like the whole world can control their body's and we can't. I'm not an expert on Graves, but I've been around people with it and severe cases none-the-less. Sounds a lot like Graves, but does she have any family, like a husband who could take her to the doctor?
Avatar n tn I have the same problem, but I've had it all my life (long before thyroid problems), and I'm not convinced it's a thyroid issue. I describe mine as a feeling of "claustrophobia", rather than pain, when something touches my neck. I've learned to buy button shirts or V-necks because even a crew neck (like a T-shirt) bugs me. "I have to cover my thyroid to alleviate this horrible feeling." I don't understand what you mean by "cover".
Avatar n tn The incidence of retinal problems is higher in high myopes than simple myopia or normal eye. However the most likely statistic wise is no problems.
