Avatar f tn I just had a Nuclear Scan on my thyroid where I took 2 pills of I-123 Iodine and my results were zero uptake on both scans. What does that mean? I know its not normal, way below in fact. I have hypothyrodism.
Avatar f tn ...16 x 11 mm solid nodule in the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. ...There is minimally decreased activity in the lower pole left thyroid lobe, this does not represent a hyperfunctioning hot nodule. Impression: 1. Isointense if not slightly hypointense lower pole left thyroid lobe This does not represent a hyperfunctioning hot nodule.
Avatar n tn I was given a Thyroid scan before my treatment dose of RAI to see how much tissue was left after my thyroidectomy and to see where they wanted my treatment dose to go. This was done the day after my diagnostic dose was given and the day before my treatment dose was administered. They like to take a few pictures including the thyroid scan, WBS, etc. to get a good idea of the target of the treatment.
550622 tn?1247656720 1 color scan of the thyroid is obtained giving the size in square centimeters and the weight in grams. The precise size and activity of nodules in relation to the rest of the gland is also measured. CTS of the normal thyroid gland In addition to making thyroid diagnosis more accurate, the CRT scanner improves the results of thyroid biopsy. The accurate sizing of the thyroid gland aids in the follow-up of nodules to see if they are growing or getting smaller in size.
Avatar n tn Should Repliva 21/7 be stopped prior to a nuclear thyroid scan & uptake? Should jewelry (earrings) be removed prior? Would the scan/uptake be affected if they weren't removed?
Avatar m tn She doe not need a nuclear scan. A scan is not indicated in the evaluation of a nodule in a patient on levoxyl for hypothyroidism. She needs FNA biopsy of the nodule seen on ultrasound -- 90-95% of these are benign.
Avatar f tn My Primary care physician sent me for an ultrasound of my thyroid. After receiving the report, she ordered a nuclear scan. When I asked her should I be worried, she responded with "No, I will tell you if you when and if you should worry." Are these tests routine?
Avatar m tn hypoectic stucture less that 1cm found, i had a nuclear scan it said no cold lesions sugestion of a pyramidal lobe that is of increased uptake, my tsh was 4.18 . i have recently seen a endocrinologist he said it was to small to biopsy and to come back in 4 weeks for another ultrasound he did draw more labs a t3 t4 and antibioties i have not got the results back i am worried should i be ?
Avatar f tn the thyroid lobes appear nodular throughout w/o evidence of discrete thyroid nodules......i just went for a nuclear thyroid uptake scan......my question will i possibly have to have a biopsy.....
Avatar f tn Hi, what are the reference ranges for your lab results?
1174772 tn?1263605525 With the low TSH (mild hyperthyroidism) you seem to be describing, would do I-123 nuclear thyroid scan first. IF the nodules are not clearly hot (I do mean clearly!) then FNA biopsy is necessary to prove they are not cancer. Some nodules over-produce thyroid hormone and are "hot" on nuclear scan -- these are rarely cancer.
Avatar n tn 1 cm hypoechoic rounded mid right thyroid nodule with increased peripheral vascularity. Nuclear medicine scan may provide helpful additional evaluation if clinically indicated. Consider biopsy.
215021 tn?1224882457 Hi there, don't know I'm afraid what the 'contrast for thyroid' means. The letter says NM (means nuclear medicine) THYROID SCAN - PERTECHNETATE. And that they will inject radioactive tracer then wait 15 mins and then the scan will take approx 20 mins. Also says the dosage is about the same as a routine x ray. Not to have prolonged contact with pregnant women for 24 hours after or small children. To drink lots of fluids as this will help flush it out of system.
Avatar f tn Had repeat scan this week and results are very heterogeneous parenchyma of the thyroid notes with increased vasularity being suggestive of thyroiditis or autoimmune disease. 2 Suspicious lesions adjacent to the lower poles of both thyroid lobes are seen raising the possibility of parathyroid nodules. Further workup by parathyroid nuclear scan should be considered.
Avatar f tn A CT scan is not a good test for thyroid. Good tests for thyroid start with an ultrasound of thyroid and neck, others are specific uptake scans for the thyroid. Glad you are going to a ped endo. What did her labs come back as?
Avatar n tn This is the thyroid forum and I don't see anything related to thyroid issues in your post. I'm not sure our members will be real familiar with knee replacements or fractured sternum. You could try asking your question on one of the other forums. Maybe someone on here will be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck...
Avatar f tn The thyroid scan is used to determine the size, shape and position of the thyroid gland. The thyroid uptake is performed to evaluate the function of the gland. A whole-body thyroid scan is typically performed on people who have had thyroid cancer.
Avatar f tn FionaFiat... Radioactive iodine in sufficient amounts, basically, "kills" the thyroid, so it no longer produces hormones. I've had the thyroid uptake scan and it's nothing to worry about. It's a much smaller amount of radioactive iodine and doesn't damage the thyroid (so they say)...

Avatar f tn Hi. I'm 38 years old female and they recently found a 3 mm hypodense cold nodule on the right lobe of my thyroid gland. The discovery was i had lower neck pain and my doctor sent me for a nuclear scan. Iodine didn't absorb the nodule. So i had a ultra sound and it showed i mild enlargement of the right lobe of the thyroid gland with a 3 mm hypodense nodule. I'm going July 23rd. for aspiration to byopsy. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Please Help!
