Avatar n tn vertigo is common -- even amongst non-thyroid patients -- The GERD meds may interfere with absorption of thyroid meds so would recheck thyroid levels in 6-8 weeks after starting such medications. Same with estrogen -- through a different mechanism. The antivert should not interfere.
2137220 tn?1340741325 I learned I have a hyper thyroid a few years ago, and some how using birth control and having a thyroid issue I got pregnant and had my baby last July. After my hormones wore off my levels are increasing. I go see the specialist on the 27th. My question is if I start meds will it make my hair loss stop, or increase? And i was told some medications cause your eyes to bulge, is that true?
21064 tn?1309308733 I could really use your help. I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?

Even though the medication is doing what it is supposed to do as far as bring my Tsh into the " normal " range I still feel amazingly horrible. My whole body is sore and my stomach and intestines feel like they aren't working properly and now I am going to get a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.

Avatar n tn TSH, but we often see that TSH is not really indicative of thyroid status.. Do you know if you have an autoimmune thyroid disease? If so, which one? Symptoms are always most important, so if you truly have none (have you checked out the symptoms list for hypothyroidism? There are some we'd never expect), you might be okay watching, but I'd really want to see an FT3 and know whether or not you have thyroid antibodies.
Avatar f tn Furthermore, the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) maintains a list of medications that are “approved” and therefore NOT allowed to be imported without a license. You can search for T4 (levothyroxine sodium), and you will see that there are many medications listed which contain T4, but Thryroid-S and Thiroyd are not on the list. This means that imports of these tablets are not restricted by the USFDA. If they were on this list, you could not legally import them without a license.
Avatar m tn Hello friend, if your TSH levels are elevated, discuss treatment plan with your physician. Hormone medications are used to balance thyroid hormonal imbalance.
976606 tn?1263667593 It's easier to get a list of things NOT to eat. Try googling "goitrogens", which are foods that inhibit thyroid function and/or absorption of thyroid medications. Here's a couple I found: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=47 http://thyroid.about.com/cs/drugdatabase/f/goitrogen.htm Basically, you should avoid a lot of cruciferous veggies (including, but not limited to: cabbage, broccoli, turnips, radishes, cauliflower, etc), soy products, etc.
1518151 tn?1320448947 OK, hold on thyroid disease 101. Are you aware that thyroid disease fall into two main catagories ?(some people are only aware with what they have and dont know this). Hashimoto is a form of hypo where the thyroid stops producing hormones on its own from antibodies destructing it. If you are on Tapazole that is med for hyperthyroid, and this med decreases hormone production. Hyperthyroid is Graves....did they ever tell you this? to much of this med could make you hypo.
Avatar n tn I was on lithium for a while and while I can prove it I believe it was instrumental in destroying my thyroid. Please, pleas have you wife get her thyroid checked. 12 years is a long time to be on lithium. The thryoid plays a big part of our emotions.I had to go off my throid med to get ready for my first cancer treatment and you wouldnt believe the deep depression I experienced even though I take my celexa and zyprexa faithfully.
620048 tn?1358018235 I've known myself to make some mistakes and my mother caught me in one or two when I used to fill her organizers. Here's what I've found helps. I keep a word document on the computer of the meds I take, dosage and at what time(s) of day. Whenever there is a change or addition to the list it is easy to make it clearly on my paper plan. I've let my husband know where to find this list in case a doctor or caregiver needs the information someday.
Avatar m tn There is a great natural supplement for the low thyroid called "Armor" it has no side effects and is not bad for you like synthroid can be at times. Have your doctor write you a prescription for it, you will probably feel better on it. Another good thing to take for the thyroid is Iodoral Iodine, however, it is a good idea to have the doc order the Iodine Loading Test for you and then test you for iodine levels.

Avatar f tn 1. Nizoral or Dezor anti-dandruff shampoo (the last time I checked, its active ingredient is Ketaconazole) 2. Regro 5% (Minoxidil) topical solution- I have a minor bald spot which resembles the condition of male-pattern baldness. It is not severe of course, and not that obvious according to most people I know. But to prevent any exacerbation of this in the long run, I spray it on and rub it on my scalp once a day.
