Avatar f tn Hence you will need to get heart function assessed by ECHO and EKG, get kidney and liver function tests done and get a complete blood picture for anemia. Low sodium in blood, hypothyroidism and malabsorption syndromes causing low protein in blood have to be looked into. Some of it has been investigated. Liver and kidney function needs to be assessed through blood tests. It can even be infection of the lymphatics. Please discuss with your husband’s treating doctor. Hope he gets well soon!

U/S shows no tissue in thyroid bed. Doc did not do Thyrogen nor thyroxine withdrawal when checking thyroglobulin, which resulted in undetectable Tg. I am aware TgAB's interfere with that test.
Avatar n tn What does your doctor say about lowering your meds? Has he suggested you might need a decrease? Both your labs and your symptoms suggest that you are overmedicated. Does he test FT3 as well? I've never heard of urinary retention as a symptom of thyroid dysfunction. However, that doesn't mean it isn't, just that it's not common. Avatar n tn You can progress very rapidly to NO kidney function and be on dialysis and having to wait for a kidney transplant. Avatar n tn Recent head injury, hyperthyroidism, renal artery stenosis (by dopplar studies or MRI), abnormal kidney function (by kidney function tests), hyper function of adrenals, Cushing’s syndrome, abnormal liver function etc need to be ruled out. You should consult a cardiologist for high BP. To diagnose the cause tests like kidney function, liver function, lipid profile, thyroid, adrenal gland function, EKG, ECHO, tread mill etc are done.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor, but the test you're referring to is probably eGFR. This measures kidney function. TSH measures thyroid function. I wouldn't give you any medical advice other than to be persistent in questioning your doctor; after all, you are in charge of your health care.
Avatar f tn When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him. Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Avatar f tn My 16 year daughter has been suffering from kidney stones for the last 3 years. I was just talking to a friend who mentioned to me that she knew someone who had suffered for many years w/ kidney stones and they determined that his thyroid wasn't functioning properly and they removed it; he hasn't had any problems since. My daughter's thyroid function is also be watched by our family doctor, but totally unrelated to the kidney stones.
Avatar n tn Do consult your doctor. Simple blood tests would need to be done for both. Also get your kidney function assessed. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
