Avatar f tn Thyroid,i guarantee it.When min started it felt like a chip was stuckin my throat every time i swallowed any liquids. It hurt really bad.Ive been on synthroid for 2 years and havent felt any pain since.Get your thyroid checked.
Avatar f tn Have you been able to talk to your doctor about an ultrasound yet?
Avatar f tn I explained it as the feeling when you go down a hill on a rollercoaster and it feels like your stomach comes up in your throat. He said he would say it's Reflux. I've been on major doses of Reflux meds for 17 years. I'm also on Thyroid meds because I'm premenopausal. It is getting more often and it's very annoying. Doctors look at me like I'm crazy.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed with post-partum thyroiditis 2 months ago. At the time, my levels were "hyper." I had no symptoms, and my doctor only suspected it because of my heart rate. The thyroid scan showed no uptake. I have been checked twice since then, and both times my levels have been back in the normal range, although now they seem to possibly be slipping towards "hypo," so they still will be monitoring me for months to come.
Avatar f tn I have a sensation almost like someone has a hand wrapped around my throat. Could this be a thyroid issue? Any input? Thanks!
1230197 tn?1365007794 Have you any recent thyroid blood tests done? I know in one of your other threads someone suggested that you get TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 tested. If I recall correctly, you were experiencing hyper symptoms, are you still? I think I saw where you were seeing your doctor the next day. Did you do that and did you get blood work? If you have current blood test results, please post them, with reference ranges.
Avatar f tn My test came negative. Now I have started experiencing tightness in my throat and neck. It is there everyday. I feel as if there is a lump in my throat. Can advise me what is this problem related to ? I also feel though my test came negative but, I do have some thyroid problem. I feel like wearing sweater when I visit mall even during summers, I have too much sensitivity to cold. Please advise. I will be visiting my endocrinologist after 3 weeks from now.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in Feb/08. Since starting on synthroid, I have had a feeling of a "lump" in my throat and also it sometimes gets so bad, it gives me a headache. My blood levels now show "normal' but this problem is getting worse. What could it be? Also, since starting on the synthroid, I am often getting heart fluttering. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I sometimes get this feeling of a throbbing/pounding in my throat, like my heart is in my throat, can this be a sign of a thyroid disorder? This discussion is related to thyriod.
Avatar f tn This is a thyroid disorders forum; have you had thyroid hormone tests done to determine whether or not your thyroid is functioning adequately? Have you had a thyroid ultrasound to determine whether or not your thyroid is swollen/inflamed or whether you have nodules on your thyroid? It really "is" possible for anxiety to cause that type of pain, but I'd want to make sure everything else "has" been ruled out.
Avatar f tn Well, you can rest assured that it's not "in your head"... what you're feeling in real, but it's quite likely a combination of anxiety and hypothyroidism. The antibodies, themselves, don't really cause the symptoms. I'm not sure why you should have to wait until January to get an ultrasound. You don't need an endocrinologist to order it; any doctor can do that, as long as they're willing to do so.
Avatar n tn I had half my thyroid removed in 2002 and the other half removed in 2004. Both surgeries were due to non-cancer tumor growth. They did not remove the parathyroid glands. I now am experiencing a feeling of a lump in my throat when I swallow and the front of my neck seems swollen or enlarged. It is very difficult to swallow if my head is even slightly titled up. What could be causing this?
Avatar f tn In my case, it turned out to be related to autoimmune thyroid inflammation and mildly enlarged thyroid, but it could have been something more serious. If I were you I would go get it checked out, just to make sure it's nothing serious, especially if your lump keeps changing and/or growing.
1265027 tn?1284839951 A few months ago I was having alot of stress and kept feeling like there was a lump in my throat. Felt like there was something in my throat and wouldnt leave. Also felt tight as if i was being choked. about 7 weeks ago i went to the ENT for lymph node issues. He did a rhinoscope (stuck the camera up my nose) and told me i had large tonsils and adenoids. He did an ultrasound of my throat and neck as well. He also did blood. Everything came back normal. the sensation in my throat went away.
Avatar f tn Since I was fifteen I have had this constant problem with my throat, that has just become unbareable. I have a painful grinding/clicking feeling in my throat, coughing/gagging fits so bad that I have thrown up because of how hard my throat tightens, difficulty swallowing saliva, and these horrible periods where have shortness of breath and it feels like I am suffocating, as well a general feeling that I need to clear my throat.
Avatar f tn Seeing an ENT who thinks I have acid reflux. One month ago I started this feeling in my throat as if something is stuck Can't lay down it gets worse Have no heartburn The only other symptons are my chest feels like I'm haveing a heartattack and my middle back hurts. Going for a barrium swallow this week Has anyone with thryoid have these symptons of acid reflux.
Avatar f tn This can be one of the GERD sensations and symptoms. It's not always heartburn as the esophagus is long and can send some non-descript feelings along its length when it's irritated such as pain, lump in throat, tightness, nausea, "flutter," etc. Drugs and food can affect the sphincter and allow stomach acid to backflow from the stomach to irritate the lower esophagus.
Avatar m tn For the last few weeks i have had a pain in the right side of my throat,it is a slight constant pain but worse when i swallow or shout. I have been to the doctors twice about it he says he cant see anything wrong and told me the 1st time to gargle in asprin(he thought i may have ruptured a blood vessell as i had a chest cold at the time)the second time he told me to take an antiseptic throat spray but nothing has worked and the pain is still threre and seems to be getting worse.
Avatar n tn Billy, not sure but could just be a little cyst, or it could have something to do with your thyroid. i think you need to see the doctor.
Avatar m tn In the last week I have been experiencing pain in my thyroid-it's were my neck is most concave. It feels like I have a large gumball stuck in my throat. 2 wks ago I decided to try and quit smoking so I started wearing the patch and smoking 2-4 cigarettes a day vs the 30 before. The pain doesn't go away, it hurst badly to swallow and one day within the last 5 it didn't bother me. I wake up in the middle of the night and it's all I feel.
Avatar f tn You should probably go to the doctor and have your thyroid, lymph nodes, ect in you neck checked. If one of these are inflamed or have something wrong with it you could have problems swallowing. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn For a couple weeks now I've been feeling this discomfort at the top of my throat - it feels like that feeling where you're about to crying so your throat gets all tight, but it's constant. There's not much pain to it, but it still worries me.
