Avatar n tn My son (3.5) was tested for thyroid disorder and had a TSH score of 12 with T4 score in the normal range. At the time, the only symptom of any thyroid issues was that he was falling off of the growth chart his doctor has. My son is asian and adopted, so it is difficult for me to know if this was a real problem or not.
306245 tn?1244384967 i was wondering he gets tired of going short distances,he can not keep up with kids his own age (it is hard to tell in school since there are only 2 other kids in his class ) but I have seen younger kids go more then he does, my question is if they were to put in a pacemaker and set it so his heart can't go above or below a number say 60-120 and keep his heart in a regular beating pattern can this give him more energy?
Avatar f tn Request a thyroid ultrasound. That will tell whether or not there is a nodule on your thyroid that may be compressing your esophagus.
Avatar f tn When your doctor says he'll "burn" your thyroid, what he means is that he'd recommend RAI (radioactive iodine). You are given a dose of radioactive iodine, and over the course of several months, your thyroid gland is destroyed by the radiation. Once it is destroyed, you will be hypOthyroid and will have to be on replacement hormones for the rest of your life. RAI is seldom, if ever, done on pregnant women.
649848 tn?1534633700 Good morning. How's it going this morning? The sun is bright and it looks like it's going to be another hot day in the south. My week was pretty quiet... Florida is still having thousands of new COVID-19 cases/deaths every day (my county is in the hundreds of new cases/day), so we're still only going out for groceries and/or medical care, etc. The big issue here is options for school starting. It looks like this is something parents all over the country have to decide on.
1748636 tn?1312396409 I have no energy, and I drag through the day in such a fog. I know I am overweight (obese) and I struggle keeping up with the kids. I do not work, so eating 5-6 times a day should not be a problem, but I never can seem to do it. I have gone through almost every diet there is. I may loose some but then I gain it right back. I am so utterly frustrated and I do not know where to even begin. I am unable to see my doctor right now, so I am on my own. Does anyone have any ideas where to start?
539750 tn?1226521677 I could not get neone to check what could have been causing the issues....12 yrs later I find it was my thyroid......no more kids at 50! But I was 36 when it started for me....not sure, but I was told my thyroid condition was chiari related...so I am thinking so was the menopause.
465737 tn?1315754922 Once diagnosed find a good Endocrinologist/obgyn that has experience in thyroid related problems and will listen and take this condition seriously. I found out the hard way that not every Endocrinologist/Obgyn has the experience or knowledge about thyroid disease and pregnancy - it might not be there area of speciality.
Avatar f tn We also have found out that 3 women in our church and that live in our area also have thyroid nodules (they are all under 40). None of these people had thyroid problems before and we all moved to this area 5 years ago. Do I need to worry that there is something in our environment that is causing these nodules. Two out of the five so far are cancerous.

1129232 tn?1360800358 My aunt 3 kids, my counsin -3 kids, my other cousin -2 kids....they did not even treat the thyroid. They have big thyroid gland...goiter. It neve stopped them. I am planning on having a baby myself. I am 36! If i have an issue, it is because of my age and has nothing to do with this thyroid. So, don't worry too much....try to see if you have other issues...Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have had Hashimoto's thyroid for 8 years now and have had 2 kids in the past 5 years. It is possible!! I was also told that if your thryoid is not treated correctly when you are pregnant you can have a "slow" child.... I had no problems though and my kids are great and smart!
Avatar m tn The surgery takes a little time, there is anesthesia, a minimal scar if you are in expert hands and healing, but it is permanent and does not need repeated, there can be vocal cord injury or nerve or bleeding problems, whereas the radioablation can cause sore throat or some kids may have gastrointestinal problems briefly. So talk with your ped endo and weigh and compare, even consider meeting with the surgeon and be sure they do alot of these, then you will be well informed.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies..do any of you have thyroid disease and take medicine while pregnant? I didnt have any thyroid problems until my last pregnancy which i miscarried.. i have to take my medicine though and im worried that my baby is going to have hyperthyroid disease from my medicine. Im already high risk. I was deaf until age 4 , same age i started having seizures up until i was 13. (I was also told i wouldnt have kids/ride a bike/drive ect but ive done it all :) !!
Avatar n tn She was born without a thyroid. Now they want to test her for growth hormone deficiency because she is growing very slow and tested low on an igf1 test. She is on track in every other way but is just very small and hadnt grown at all between her 9 and 12 month check up.
Avatar f tn t plan for it if you have no regular pattern. So, keep that in mind. I had hypothyroidism which is a slow thyroid and had periods every 3 to 4 months and then also had a natural production of too much estrogen. This threw my hormonal balance off. My system regulated, two kids later . . . What you will want/need to do is have lab work done to check thyroid and hormone levels and your doctor should be able to guide from there.
Avatar f tn I am only 23, i attend school and almost done with my undergrade major. In 2010, i was diagnosed with severe endometriosis, beside that i have thyroid problem, asthma, and heart condition. I just had a pacemaker implanted on january 27, 2012. Today, my dr told that treatment for my endometriosis is not working and that i will lucky if i get pregnant now. She said i should now to conceive by having the sperm implanted.
Avatar f tn (dope) I have ask my kids for many years to please just do a little research on thyroid cancer and the way I act, and maybe they would understand me a little better so I could be part of their lives again, but they want, they say nothing is wrong with me and that I just want everyone to feel sorry for me and to just get off the pitty pot, I am not sure about anything anymore except for how bad I miss my kids and grand kids, and that I love them so much!!!
Avatar f tn I would love to have kids and probably soon but im not quit sure I can. Because I have NEVER had a period in my life. Although i have been to several good specialist i have still have no luck in finding out what may be wrong with me. Can anyone give me some advice or help?
Avatar n tn s will do Total T3, however, this is outdated and bound with protein in the blood. You want to see the amount of the thyroid hormone that is FREE(availabe in the blood for uptake into the cells.) It's the t3 that the body must have to function properly. It is important to know that Synthroid is a t4 only synthetic medication that must convert in the body to T3 and the T3 is then uptaken into the cells. Most people convert t4 efficiently into the t3, however, some ( like my daughter ) do not.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a daughter who is not quite 3 years old. I have a son with Type 1 diabetes and celiac, and another son with celiac. I have seronegative celiac, sacroileitis, and positive thyroid antibodies. I don't have a clue half the time what is wrong with me as my TSH, T3 and T4 seem fine. My main concern is my daughter right now. She is in the process of being screened for celiac, and they postponed it due to her TSH which was nearly 11 (range .5-5).
Avatar f tn Our 9 year old had strep throat twice in Jan/Feb. of this year. Our pediatrician had her bloodwork drawn on Jan. 14 as our daughter also had some unexplained lightheadedness and the Dr. wanted to check CBC, CMP and thyroid. Upon receiving the bloodwork back, all looked normal except for her TSH which was 6.60 (FT4 was 0.73). We did not go back to do the more indepth test until Feb. 24 and the results were: TPAb - negative, TP AB In - 76.0, Thyroglobulin Antibody - 205 (high), TSH - 5.
