Avatar m tn I had a goiter on my thyroid gland and the endocrinologist removed 99% of my thyroid. I have been on synthroid and levothyroxine since then. I have discontinued the use of the meds for about a month or 2. I am concerned about weight loss /weight gain and other health issues. I have been told that you cannot live without a thyroid or the replacement meds. Was wondering if anyone had luck with the natural herbs.
Avatar m tn Have you had a diagnosis of what might be wrong first? If, for example, your excess heat is caused by Thyroid problems, then only treating the Thyroid will really work. If it's caused by Menopause, then a different herbal combination might be needed. You might have low-grade fever, caused by any number of things, or an infection somewhere.... I would definitely recommend going to a conventional doctor for a full diagnosis first.

Avatar m tn Thank you very much for the information you sent regarding my wife's problems with heat intolerance, rapid heart rate, arrhythmias, and weight loss. To answer your questions about anxiety and herbs, neither seem to be a problem. She doesn't take herbs and is a calm person. Her rapid heart rate started in the mid 70s, and her heat intolerance started slowly a couple of years ago, but ,as mentioned, is growing increasingly worse.

So if you feel like you have high adrenal surges at times, I wonder if you should just try to lower it or stabilize it? Not much written about this. 5HTP It has been mentiond for use by thyroid sufferrers with questionable addrenals, I wonder what it is they thought this did for them.

I don't exactly remember why, but it had something to do with the adrenals affecting the thyroid, not the other way around.
