Avatar m tn ve since been kept on the pill even though results are normal. Can my thyroid have been damaged for life? How is that fact diagnosed if tests have been normal for four years.?
15915009 tn?1488868338 m hoping to get off of them soon, but is it possible to have a relapse later in life after I have not been taken them, if Graves Disease will be with me for the rest of my life and if I need to get my blood checked every so often?
1013194 tn?1296459481 Any treatment that removes or destroys much of the thyroid ( such as surgery or radioactive iodine) does require treatment for life with T4 hormone. However in certain situations, Hypothyroidism is temporary, you may need thyroxine for a time, but can later stop taking it. Sometimes, the fact that you no longer need the medication is obvious. but other times you and your doctor may decide to attempt a trial period off thyroid hormones for four to six weeks to see if you still need it.
Avatar n tn I am about to go through thyroid surgery, like yours in two weeks. I have not heard of what you are going through, so sorry I can not help . But there is something I would like to know and that is if you have been on any antidepressants lately as I have and I have found that symptoms to withdrawls to those are very much the same as thyroid problems. I do hope you get to feeling better. I know the tough time you have been through and the desire to get better,so this seems so unfair for you..
929504 tn?1332585934 I just had my TT friday, I am feeling ~much~ better, though it could be the pain meds, lol. I have had more urination lately and had to have a cather after surgery b/c I couldn't "go" and released 660 cc...alot for a previously diagnosed IC patient. Wouldn't it be wonderful if my thyroid was the reason for my constant swelling?.?. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar n tn My question is what is the quality of life like after thyroid removal? How long does it take to regulate the hormones? I have minimal symptoms and still want to be my active self. I teach, coach, hike, exercise, etc. I am contemplating surgery and really being pushed by the medical professionals handling my case due to the size of the nodules. I am really concerned that there could be cancer but I am fearful of losing the ability to do what I enjoy doing.
413467 tn?1203028931 Hello! I'm new to this forum & happy to have found you all. Let me say how very sorry I am for your sadness & how totally I can relate. I wish I could say something noble like, 'Meditation saved my life', or 'Lavender candles & relaxation tapes make me feel better!' Trust me, I've done all that too. I've tried everything from Noni Juice to bio-feedback. I do still see my chiro once a month. But the best thing I do for my fibro is taking pain meds.

I pray u get answers soon.
Avatar m tn only 25mg levothyroxine. I have been to the hospital clinic they are doing more blood tests for my thyroid levels etc. I am waiting for the results which will be in one week from today. Avatar m tn If the ranges were based on healthy adults with no known thyroid pathology, the ranges would be more like the upper half of current. For that reason many members say that symptom relief required FT3 in the upper part of its range and FT4 around the middle of its range at minimum. Scientific studies have shown that Free T3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while Free T4 and TSH did not correlate at all.
Avatar f tn Anxiety is a normal reaction to a surgery, such as thyroidectomy. Prior to having your thyroid out, had you had hypothyroidism or anything? Had you been on any thyroid replacement medication? It's quite rare for a doctor to agree to remove a thyroid simply because of a goiter and no other issues. Were you tested for/diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?

Avatar n tn pregnancy, thyroid hormone abnormality, perimenopausal anovulation, endometrial polyp, endometrial hyperplasia (overgrown endometrial tissue) with or without atypia or endometrial cancer. A proper work up will include checking a thyroid hormone level (TSH), undergoing an endometrial biopsy and now that you have had a pelvic ultrasound, a study to look inside the uterus for polyps (e.g., hysteroscopy, sonohysterogram).
