Avatar n tn Thyroid nodules are often benign, but sometimes can be cancerous, so it might be a good idea to get a thyroid ultrasound. I was told by my ENT that 30% of women in their thirties have nodules, 40% of women in their 40s, 50% of women in their 50s, etc. have nodules, and the vast majority of those are not thyroid cancer, so even if they find nodules on your ultrasound, it does not mean thyroid cancer. So...
Avatar m tn Anything is possible, but I think it would be accompanied by these symptoms # Hoarseness or difficulty swallowing -Hoarseness - Trouble breathing - Swollen lymph nodes, especially in your neck - Pain in your throat or neck, sometimes spreading up to your ears The fever, night sweats and lump could also be a sign of something not so serious like an infection or something more serious like cancer I would think that your symptoms could point toward lymphoma or thyroid cancer.
Avatar f tn Is the thyroid working properly did they do blood work to check for hypo or hyperthyroidism etc. Thyroid cancer is more common in women than men since he does have a previous history of cancer I would advise rethinking about having the thryoid removed.Sometimes depending they can remove just one side of the thyroid sparing the other would just depend on the results of the pathology if only one side removed.
Avatar f tn My question is it normal to get a nodule in thyroid after being on Synthroid for 8 years, and is cancer more likely in singular nodules then of multi nodules? I thought Synthroid was part of the treatment of nodules. Why would one even grow in my thyroid while I was on Synthroid? Needless to say I am unhappy with his plan of action, so I am seeing another endo for second opinion. I have also been experiencing symptoms that are being ignored.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new on here. I have posted on the thyroid disorders forums about my 3 small thyroid nodules that were found by accident in late 2006 when I was 41 and a half on an ultrasound I asked my doctor for because my metabolism got very slow and I had to go on a diet for the first time in my life and my thyroid blood tests have always been normal.
Avatar m tn The interesting thing is the symptoms of Low T in women virtually match identically the low thyroid symptom list. So the difficulty is to convince the Dr. that her lasting symptoms may be low T and not Hypo thyroid is a touch argument to make. And there is no gurantee that it is not BOTH. All I know is that the tests show she is BELOW range. As you can see above they won't even list the amount. It simply says less than 0.20 which is the botom of the range.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new her and since there isn't a specific forum for uterine cancer I hope you don't mind I'm posting this here.
Avatar n tn You may need iodine. A 24-hour urine loading test is the best way to determine iodine levels. Here is some info on iodine... Excerpt from Dr Mercola's article: How Iodine Deficiency May Affect Your Child's Brain Function and IQ.... Avatar f tn My new doctor discovered a lump in my thyroid in December of 07. After doing a biopsy in January and she couldn't determine if the lump was good or bad, and a thyroid scan, she decided it was best to remove the whole right thyroid. That was last week, April 21. I saw her yesterday, and was told the mass was larger than she thought and the glad was the size of her fist. The mass was a tumor and calcified, and had three separate cancers.
Avatar n tn According to ovarian cancer statistics, this fourth-leading cause of cancer-related death in women will affect approximately 1 out of every 69 women born today. Other statistics show that the average age at diagnosis is 63 and the average age at death is 71. Ovarian cancer statistics gathered by the American Cancer Society indicate that in 2006, 20,180 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and 15,310 women will die as a result. Thats enough for me..............they can take mine out.
Avatar m tn Rafsan, your mother does need to get medical attention as soon as possible. As women, we know the severity of Breast Cancer. There are different types, some can spread rapidly without one even knowing. My mother's doctor just recently found a lump and turns out it is cancerous. I am not trying to scare you, but you do need to be aware of the high risk that women have of getting Breast Cancer. I would seek immediate medical attention..
Avatar n tn Welcome to the group, but I'm sorry for the reason you are here. I'm assuming you aren't currently taking any Synthroid since you will be having RAI pretty soon which would certainly explain your fatigue. Many people here are hypothyroid either because of having their thyroid removed or for other reasons and can surely sympathize with all the symptoms that go along with it. A great resource for the newly diagnosed thyroid cancer patient is www.thyca.org.
Avatar m tn HT is seven times more likely to occur in women than in men. Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), the most prevalent form of cancer in the thyroid, is 2.5 times more likely to develop in women than men. Given the relatively high prevalence of these diseases and the increased occurrence in women, we analyzed data from our institution to determine if there is a correlation between Hashimoto's thyroiditis and PTC in women.
976897 tn?1379167602 Most women believe that cancer (breast in particular) is the number one killer of women, and they are dead wrong! I am standing with you on this, dear friend.
Avatar n tn I am a 34 yr old healthy male and need a Fine Needle Biopsy. There is no thyroid cancer in my family and no history of childhood radiation treatment or xrays, but my aunt had half of hers removed due to big nodules. Are all punctate calcifications cancerous? What percentage of them are cancerous? My last TSH reading was 1.71.
Avatar f tn however, in the event that it is cancer, ThyroidHunter is correct - thyroid cancer is one of the most curable cancers there is.
Avatar n tn I was originally referred to him from a surgeon because my ultra sound revealed a 2-cm solid, cold nodule attached to the back of my thyroid and they thought it might be pressing on my vocal cord as my voice goes in and out and raspy at times. The thyroid tests are normal. I have been patiently waiting 6 weeks now for an FNA. They did say there is a good chance that I have one of the 1st two thyroid cancers. I don't have any pain in my neck.
