Avatar f tn So my doctor told me I have thyroid cancer? They say its the best cancer to have. Which I don't understand how any cancer is good cancer... but anyways my question is how bad would it affect my baby???
656157 tn?1224637803 Still a 5% change this could be cancer and that biopsy was incorrect, in that case they take the entire thyroid. However, I am not so open to taking RAI given all the thyroid and breast cancer inmy family and now I hear they are linked. Is the other half removed soley for cancer tracking purposes or do they believe that cancer can also grow on the other side as well. Still somewhat confused? going in December... love to hear different insight.
Avatar f tn People with Hashimotos are more suseptible to get thyroid cancer. Need to get a biopsy for sure. I was diagnosed in Oct. of 2010 with papillary/follicular thyroid cancer and the best advice I can give is to remove entire thyroid. Because my endocrinologist told me to only have a partial I ended up hav Ing to have 2 surgeries. Not fun.. I had your same symptoms. Good luck.mhope it's nothing but only the biopsy will tell for sure.
Avatar f tn m very sorry to hear that you have a cancer of any type at your age; however, thyroid cancer is one of the most curable cancers there is. Your thyroid will be removed and maybe you'll have to some RAI to make sure there's no living thyroid tissue. Thyroid cancer rarely spreads to other parts of the body, unless it's left untreated for a long time.
Avatar f tn m really sorry that you also have thyroid cancer, there is so many people men and women who do and it has increased! I'm really worried that my 3 small thyroid nodules found by accident in October 2006 are cancers! Do you know there is an Erxpert forum on here and a very good Dr.Dr.Mark Lupo answers people's questions? You should defintely post your questions to him as well. Calificiation is a feature that is commonly but sometimes not, found as a ultrasound feature and sign of cancer.
266631 tn?1228785989 I am scheduled for surgery on a few days to remove my thyroid because of thyroid cancer. I've know for 2 months. I'm still a wreck. And worried they will tell me its spread. Is anyone awake?
414800 tn?1205428010 Is the only way to rule out thyroid cancer through a scan? My bloodwork was as follows: thyroid peroxidase ab >1000 thyroglobulin ab >77.3 TSH 8.7 T3 1.2 T4 0.1 also WBC was 12.5 My Dr. diagnosed me with Hashimoto's thyroiditis causing hypothyroidism with multinodule goiter.
Avatar m tn All my thyroid levels were normal and I have thyroid cancer. Usually the only symptom of thyroid cancer is a painless lump in your thyroid (nodule)...if your levels are abnormal, that usually indicates another type of thyroid disorder. While only approximately 5 percent of nodules are malignant, all nodules you can feel should be checked out via ultrasound (painless, quick, cheap) and followed up with an FNA biopsy if suspicious.
Avatar f tn I just had my thyroid and lymph nodes taken out on Monday because I had thyroid cancer. I had a cystic mass on the right side of my neck. Ever since ive had this surgery, the docs say my calcium levels are low. I was released from the hospital 2 days after the surgery, but I just got admitted again because I got really sick. I got really numb and tingly all over my body. The docors are saying its because of low calcium. They give me calcium through an iv and tums.
Avatar m tn carbimazole (similar to the methimazole we use in the US) is for hyperthyroidism not for cancer. However, patients with thyroid cancer can also have hyperthyroidism (not due to the cancer) and need to be treated with such medications to make the thyroid function normal in preparation for surgery (after which the anti-thyroid medication is stopped and levothyrxoine started).
Avatar f tn I have always lost weight very easily and have had the syptoms of hyper thyroid problems, now i am having poblems that are do to hypo thyroid problems. I have had two ultrasounds in the past three yrs and have never had nodules in the left thyroid several in the right thyroid. since my last ultrasound my right ndules are hypoechoicand are solid and have grown but not significantly i have four of them 7mm,5mm, 2mm, 4mm on the right side and they are round.
Avatar f tn I posted back in the summer about my son having thyroid cancer and a TT, now it seem that it is my turn. I have been taking synthroid for 20-30 yrs now because of a cold nodular. Now as a result of FNA I have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I have only had the initial phone conversation with endo and will get back to her tomorrow. At this point I am wondering if there is any sense in getting a second opinion. Another doctor would have the same tests to go by as the original doctor.
Avatar n tn During a total thyroidectomy if thyroid tissue found in surrounding lymph nodes does that mean it's cancer? Also if a person has thyroid cancer, hurthle cell, what is considered late stages?
Avatar f tn My sister had two goiters and although she kept checking them frequently, lateley she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She was operated and had her thyroid removed and after 6 months she took the iodine radioactive pill. Now she is on thyroxin and her doctor told her that right now its important to keep her thyroid fast. My problem is that yesterday my sister had a panic attack . She felt like she was going to throw up and her heart beat was very fast.
1483143 tn?1292385583 As I also stated, my dad had thyroid trouble, I have thyroid cancer, my sister also has thyroid cancer, I have two brothers (so far) that have no thyroid function, and another sister with nodules that are being watched. The long and short answer is just what they have told you, they suspect cancer, but cannot tell for sure until they get it out, freeze a sample, send it to the lab and get it looked at by a pathologist. Get the lobectomy and you will have an answer for sure.
Avatar f tn I had a thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer on May 21st and waiting for RAI. I would like to know if others still had the fullness in neck and ear even after thyroidectomy. What does this mean? I hope they didn't miss something?
Avatar f tn So if one is worried about a thyroid nodule/cancer, ultrasound performed by a thyroid specialist is the best way to determine if FNA is needed.
Avatar m tn Relax PLeASe??? I know what you are going thru - it IS scary. ( I once had melanoma way back in 1988. I had a three year old to care for!! ) But now it's time to research as much as you can. Please, please PLEASE google ladybugsandbees. One woman's journey thru thyroid cancer. It is her blog and tells every step of the way what she experienced when finding out in 1999/2000. Her doctor found her nodule right after her check up after having a baby!!
487621 tn?1322609697 How do they test for thyroid cancer? What are the signs/symptoms? With my hypothyroid, and being on the levothyroxine for 8 weeks, I'm getting nervous because the signs/symptoms of hypoT are so prevalent! I thought after being on the med, the thyroid would shrink and the symptoms would go away. I know it's a life long disease and be on medication for my lifetime...
