Avatar f tn Examination and ultrasound of the thyroid would exclude another cause. Another origin of the bruit would be a stenosis of the subclavian artery. It won’t do any harm to tell your doctor about this possibility. Finally, if you don’t complain from anything, you can just consider it as a normal variation and forget about it.
806602 tn?1304700492 You should see your doctor and have physical exam (especially with arm asymmetry) and thyroid levels. True thyroid bruit is seen in Graves' disease. Don't treat/examine/evaluate yourself at this point.
Avatar m tn There is something called a thyroid bruit which is a vascular murmur heard over a hyperactive thyroid gland due to increased blood flow to the glands. whether you can feel a bruit,I don't know, but it could be causing it. Its usually found in graves patients.
Avatar f tn for 2 ultrasound test , one for a lump under his jaw/chin area and the other for an ultrasound for abdominal bruit, site Aorta. The dr. said he heard something in his stomach. What is a bruit and how does it affect one's health and personalty?
Avatar m tn m currently a 20yr old medical student, somehow I incidentally discovered a right carotid bruit, its easy to auscult (diastolic), you can actually feel the thrill... I'm currently asymptomatic, yet I'm worried... I've been researching about it... I used to be fat but I'm way too young for early atheroesclerosis disease, there's no history of stroke or miocardial infarction in my family or any lipid disorders...
Avatar f tn Hi, if there was abdominal bruit it would have been pursued, as this can be life threatening. Consumption of ibuprofen causes peptic ulcer disease or gastritis. This can cause pain abdomen. As you are prone for this your doctor has refused to give prednisolone as this can further aggravate the gastric symptoms. Any doubts, clarify with your doctor, thats the best way. Doppler ultrasonography can detect vascular abnormalities. Regards.
Avatar f tn My son is 16, he has been being tested for an aneurysm/bruit. His abdominal area has a strong pulsation which seems to go along with his heartbeat and cause him to feel light headed. He had a ultrasound and catscat but nothing was found. He continues to have this, we are both very concerned. Is there any other tests i should request or should they be looking for something else that may cause this?
Avatar m tn HI there, I am a 28 yr old male and I have a heart murmur (systolic) diagnosed during a medical(when I was 22), which required an echocardiogram that came back normal, suggesting my murmur was innocent. I have a few concerns however. My pulse pressure is always high, typical readings would be 130/60. I suffer from white coat hypertension so in the doctors office, its normally 146/62ish... Why is my pulse pressure so high?
Avatar n tn I just recently went through the same thing because my doctor heard a bruit in my right carotid artery. The ultra sound was normal and a Computed Tomography Angiogram was also normal. My ultrasound said kind of the same thing as your and my doctor assured me I was no where near imminent problems. I'm nervous though because there is still a bruit. Did your doctor hear one on you while listening to your carotid arteris with a stethescope.
Avatar m tn I have this sound someonee said could possibly be a bruit. It is a low pulsating noise, makes my ears vibration. Feel pulsating in the bottom of my feet. I see a family doctor Thursday. I'm just wondering if a bruit can be low frequency sounding like bass speakers. It gets worse when I lay down.

Avatar f tn I recently learned that I have what is called TIA on the left side and a Bruit on both Carotids' when I went in to the Emergency Room I was told about the Carotid Bruit and before they did the Surgery to remove all of my Thyroid ( due to Thyroid Storm ) I was told of the TIA.
Avatar f tn Upon my last visit to a consultant neuorologist from Kings College Hospital in London, I was given a medical report stating the finding of a mild, right carotid bruit from the medical examination of my condition. I have had two botox injections in the posterior tongue muscle with no effect on my speech. My question is would the neourologist finding of a mild, right carotid bruit ibe relevant to my speech problem? If not, what does it indicate?
Avatar f tn The other day I was using my stethoscope to listen and I heard a bruit, turbulent blood flow throughout the aorta. I'm wondering if this could be benign, I'm very thin, and I don't have high cholesterol so if it's not an aneurysm, and it's not from high blood pressure or high cholesterol, what else could cause a bruit in the abdominal aorta? I also have palpitations that I will be wearing a heart monitor for in about a week to diagnose.
Avatar m tn A benign thyroid tumor that secretes thyroid hormones. If the doctor orders a A radioactive iodine uptake (RAIU) test, that's what he's looking for. Thyroiditis: Thyroid inflammation, similar to graves but resolves over a few months. A study I read seems to show that antibody tests more reliable for graves than hashimoto's. But neither is the end all be all. Also any test that shows an abnormal result should be redone, just in case.
Avatar f tn i am 45 years old and fir the last six weeks have a throbbing sensation on my right side of my neck. I get headaches, dizzy, chest pain and feel week.
Avatar f tn I HAD MY THYROID REMOVED 9 DAYS AGO DUE TO A GREAT DEAL OF PROBLEMS ONE BEING THYROID STORM...ANYWAYS I HAD LOST 20 POUNDS WHEN I WENT TO THE HOSPITAL 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THE DIAGNOSIS OF HYPERTHYROIDISM. MY QUESTION IS THIS WILL I START TO GAIN WEIGHT ? I'VE BEEN FAIRLY SMALL ALL MY LIFE EVEN AFTER THE BIRTH OF MY FOUR KIDS. Avatar n tn I am feeling the exact same buzzing sensation in my left groin area (57/M) and I feared it was possibly a femoral bruit. I'm a paramedic and have heard and felt it in patients' carotids and in dialysis patients' grafts and I thought I was feeling a similar sensation in my left femoral area. What can it be? HELP!!
Avatar m tn lid lag, bruit, tremor, and abnormal knee reflexes? (She should rule out subacute thyroiditis because I did not complain about pain in the neck area). Also, if GP suspects thyroid disorder, referral to the appropriate specialist is usually the next step.
Avatar f tn I also had a CTA of the Aortic Arch and Head back in 2009 when my doctor was worried about a carotid bruit that he kept hearing in my right neck. That test proved ok and it was determined that the bruit was coming from my mitral valve regurgitation that was radiating sound up to the carotids. Now that my surgeon wants to do the CT Angiogram of my hearet before my surgery, I am so freightened about the radiation exposure that the test from 2009 combined with this one will do to my body.
Avatar m tn Ringing in ears could develop from another set of causes such as ear wax, infections, vascular bruit, excessive or loud noise, meniere’s disease, acoustic neuroma, ototoxic medications etc. Breathing restriction could result from causes related to the respiratory tract or neuro-muscular issues. Memory loss could result from a few neurological conditions. Cold intolerance could occur secondary to hormonal/ endocrine imbalance, medication side effect, autonomic disturbances etc.
Avatar f tn Blurred vision, unable to focus, mild headaches, light flashes, lightening type visions adn most recently over the weekend it appeared as if the floor and walls were moving. lasted only 30 minutes or so. Several weeks ago DR also heard carotid bruit. Eye DR. indicated eye migraines. Could it be sometime else going on? Carotid Ultrasound scheduled in next week.
Avatar f tn I also then went to dr for 3 dizzy spells and basically said it was vertigo but heard a carotid bruit and sent me for ultrasound which in turn was normal. Now the last 3 mornings I have woke up and within few minutes I feel really nauseous and have vomited and also break into cold sweat. Are all these symptoms really normal or should I request to go for further testing? .
212161 tn?1599427282 d first look at the kidney - looking at renal stenosis (a blockage in a kidney artery) which results in too much renin and aldosterone hormone. An MD would listen there for a bruit. If not that, then maybe a kidney infection, which can be tested in the urine The other hormone as a culprit would be adrenalines, as in a pheochromocytoma or super stress.
