Avatar f tn The age you are and being in a menpausal state - I think the best situation would be for you to go in and get a thyroid blood test with your family doctor. This would be a start. The something comes up abnormal, your doctor should be able to guide you in the next steps to follow.
Avatar n tn It can even be the thyroid med or dose - it changes body metabolisim and composition and sweat aroma. I have read before where peoples cats even freaked out. After they took thyroid med, their cat noticed the difference in smell I suppose. I know dessicated thyroid meds makes sweat smell different than synthetic med.
Avatar n tn About a month ago, I started feeling an internal tremor, which moves through my entire body. It started as a feeling of tremors in my left arm, which spread to both arms and my back and legs in only a couple days. It's like a quick pulsing that I can feel in my hands, legs, neck, and chest. It is not visible - but my family doctor was able to feel the tremor when she squeezed my hands.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D has always been low, not real low but on the low side so I supplement. B-12, sends me into high anxiety so I don't even get close to that as far as supplementing. The cortisol I took was saliva but that was so many years ago. It was a 24 hour test. I will ask the Dr. about the ferritin. I've always been VERY sensitive to medications. I can't tolerate any type of oral antibiotics. I'm throwing up within a day or 2.
307500 tn?1302116146 But all of the endocrinologists I have seen have always tested for other endocrine disorders when the do annual blood tests because so many type 1 folks do have thyroid problems. Adrenal problems are rarer, but also more common among type 1 patients than among other patients from what I have read. The same autoimmune disorder that causes our bodies to over-react when stimulated by viruses to kill off the pancreas can cause attacks on other endocrine glands.
Avatar m tn Vitamin D levels should also be tested, along with a general physical. Dr. may also do some general screening including CBC, liver and kidney function, lipid profile, etc.
Avatar m tn The gland removes iodine from the blood and incorporates it into thyroid hormone that regulates essential body functions such as growth and cellular metabolism. How would one go about getting Free T3, Free T4 and reverse T3 to get an accurate picture of the "actual" thyroid function? Most doctors would order the conventional blood test for thyroid function and in the UK if the doctor didn't feel a blood test was warranted to check the thyroid function it would not be done.
390388 tn?1279636213 Hi. I'm not sure if this is thyroid related or not. These pains are driving me nuts though. Yesterday I ran the sweeper threw the downstairs and not only got fatigued but was in a lot of pain. Today my shoulder hurts very bad and my hand is just about completely numb. My throat feels thick sort of and swollen. Not real sore just hot like I have heart burn with no heart burn. My life feels like it's been turned upside down.
Avatar f tn t come back, very interesting has to do with the nerves, makes since lack of thyroid hormone does so much to our body, and the hormones do so much for our body. Its amazing how many people are suffering due to lack of knowledge of the thyroid. Sorry to hear you still have them, thanks for the info.
1398693 tn?1343684738 As stated in a post above, body temperature varies from person to person, so no, thyroid medication won't always change body temp if yours is naturally lower. Mine is usually pretty low, also; only rising when I'm very ill, then not very high.
Avatar m tn my baby was detected hypothyroid with TSH 6 when he was 4months, doc prescribed 25mcg/day. Is this the right dose? just want to reconfirm. We have not done the ultrasound, if thyroid gland is totally absent can baby survive on mothers milk till 3 months. what is the total thyroxine requirement of a 4 month old infant.
Avatar f tn Hi! If you have thyroid issues, then your thyroid is not under control.Get a latest evaluation done. Since you have temperature fluctuations the other things to be ruled out are adrenal gland problems, anemia, diabetes, hypoglycemia, liver diseases, low Vit B12, and vasovagal attacks. Please consult a doctor to get this evaluated. Hope this helps. Take care!
1411765 tn?1281652371 There is a substantial number of adults who are misdiagnosed Type 2 who are in fact Type 1 or LADA which is a slow onset type 1. Some of the indications that this might be the case would be a person who was put on oral meds and they did nothing or they worked for awhile (months to a couple years) then stopped working, necessitating insulin use.
1163798 tn?1328131101 Aside from the weight issue, too much thyroid hormone can cause very rapid heart rate, raise your body temperature, cause fatigue, as well as other symptoms. The tests you need to ask for are Free T4, Free T3, TSH, TPOab, TGab and TSI. A blood sugar test would measure the level of sugar in your blood -- a glucose tolerance test would be good........also a test called A1c, which measures what your blood sugar has ranged over a period of 2-3 months.
Avatar f tn Hi there - have you noticed any swelling in your thyroid area and have you ever had your thyroid checked as this amongst other possibilites may have something to do with your body temperature. - I'm not a doctor or specialist just a sufferer trying to get to the bottom of my symptoms. Hope it helps - let me know if you have any test results back - good luck and take care.
Avatar m tn Just check your body temperature as thyroid hormone controls metabolism. Check your body temperature before you get out of bed (basal body temperature). "Another telltale sign of hypothyroidism is a low basal body temperature (BBT), less than 97.6 degrees F averaged over a minimum of 3 days." = this is from Dr Mercola's article: Symptoms Indicating Sluggish Thyroid Gland. 97.6 F is 36.4 C. I found this online about folate (also called folic acid or vitamin B9)...
Avatar f tn I have been having severe shaking inside my entire body. I really feel this when I am trying to sleep at night. I also see bright flashes when my eyes are closed. This is making crazy! What could possibly be causing this?
Avatar n tn Does Type I diabetes always present with a rapid onset in a child or are there cases where the patient has a history of symptoms that could indicate developing problems? My daughter had always been in the 95 percentile for growth and two years ago had slipped to the 75th. Her hair recently started falling out and I took her to her MD and she is now in the 50th percentile.
Avatar n tn You are way under the amount you should be eating. Have you ever done a body type test? Every body is a certain metabolism controlled by a certain gland. If you can go the library and find the Metabolic Typing studies, do the tests. It could tell you what you are not eating that you should be or what you should be. I am a thyroid type and I need my protein. There was a book out years ago called Dr. Abravanel's body type diet and it gave diets for every body shape.
891800 tn?1241426992 Have you had any tests to see whether or not you have peripheral vascular disease or P.V.D.? My grandmother had this. It can be hereditary and show up as early as teenage years. I don't know that she had trouble as a younger person, but as she got older, it would hurt her feet, etc. to take a walk. Do you have cholesterol issues? I don't say this is what you have, just might be something you want rule out.
