Avatar n tn Yes thyroid can cause cycle irregularities. I am currently hypothyroid and am getting my menses every 18-20 days. That's how i can tell if my thyroid levels are off by the regularity of my cycle. I always go an exact 28 days when my thyroid labs are good.
Avatar f tn I am a 46 year old woman. I usually have a 5 day normal menstrual. I spotted 1 day and it went away. What can that possibly be? Pregnancy test was negative.
736040 tn?1257436457 Unfrotunatley about a month or so after my recheck I stopped having my menstrual cycle again. he did a recheck on my levels and they were great! To date i have not had a menstrual cycle for a good 3-4 months. My question is...if my thyroid levels are good, then why wouldnt my menstrual cycle be normal?
Avatar f tn Ask for FSH and LH, etc.... and be sure they tell you the best times in your cycle so you're testing on the right days (I think one of them was the third day in my period & one later on) & get that TSH tested too, as thyroid can affect emotions and menses. Severe cramps and endometriosis often go together.
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. Well, sorry for your miscarriage. Those always stick with us in terms of emotions surrounding them. What did your doctor say regarding your lack of period for 3 to 4 months? You aren't pregnant so something 'else' is causing this. I had very long cycles for a time period in my late 20's due to a slow thyroid. Actually it was every 3 to 4 months! and I had pms symptoms during that time. Quite frustrating. Could you finally be having a period?
Avatar f tn What are your actual thyroid hormone levels? It's possible that your levels aren't optimal yet, so your cycle won't have leveled out yet. It can take quite a while after we start medication for all of our body systems to get back to normal. If you post your most recent thyroid labs, we might be able to help determine whether you need a dosage adjustment or not.

Avatar n tn My wife has been experiencing irregular menstrual cycle for the last 06 months. She is 34 year old. After having checked with doctor and subsequent test, she found thyroid problem. She started taking medicines as per dr prescription for the last 5 days. She was expecting her periods on Dec 20 this time but she started light spoting from Jan 03. After 03 - 04 days she started heavy bleeding with medium size blood clots. I am worried and seek advise. Thanks & Regards.
Avatar f tn Peri-menopause can start at any age, and your symptoms sure to point to it, just because the lab work does not show it,does not mean you are not entering it. The lab work is only a picture of what is going on for that moment. Have you had the saliva test, this is very accurate and tests for all the hormones, I would certainly ask for you if you have not had one. Endometritis can also be another cause for the heavy bleeding. Having a sonogram of the ovaries, etc, can tell if you have that.
929504 tn?1332585934 I am currently reading a book on thyroid issues and it's very imformative and also states that "irregular cycles" can be caused by thyroid issues. I had a Thyroidectomy back in dec 09" and my symptoms are worsening. I have started on 25mcg synthroid and up to 75, then up to 88, then up to 100 and back down to 88...so obviously I need add'l assistence in med's.
Avatar f tn I had done ultrasound,FSH,LH,thyroid test.everything was normal. i got married 2and half years back and found my cycle has become 35 to 45 days.2 years back hyper thyroid detected.i took thyronorm 25 mg for 6 month.then my thyroid got normal.since then I check my TSH regularly.it is normal now I dont take medicine .since last 6 month i am getting my cycle longer again(60-65 days).we are planning for a baby.will there be any difficulty due to my irregularity.
87651 tn?1259602403 However - you have been doing great - so try not to blame the thyroid for your DMCS (during mentrual cycle symptoms, I made that up...). If it gets really bad and you're sure its not the way it was before, then definitely speak with your doctor, but it doesnt sound like you are there, yet.
1582332 tn?1296924865 Yes, the last few years, My doc told me its due to having Chiari and being around the 50 age range (I'm now 53 and cramps have lessened and so has pain), I still have cycle. I'm tested and my hormones read OK, no change of life yet. Everything is more sensitive, even my teeth and bite. My neck feels suffocated, headache comes and either left or right side of head and neck is intolerable. Being on an acid-free diet has helped me alot (read dropping acid).
Avatar f tn Sure, we can add a simple menses checkbox to the thyroid tracker and the weight tracker. Thanks for the suggestion and we'll let you know when it's available.

Avatar f tn Does anyone with Hashimotos feel very fatigued and almost like their thyroid is swollen and just moreso overall yucky than normal during their menstrual cycles? Does anyone think birth control interferes with this or actually makes it better than what it could be if they were not on birth control at all.
484267 tn?1239037973 I was diagnosed with post partum thyroiditis in January (in the hyper phase) and in May "normal" range, but still haven't had a menstrual cycle to speak of since having my baby in September. I am not breastfeeding so the endo said in March that I should be getting them back, but have not. I have been taking many pregnancy tests as well just to be sure, but they were all negative.
Avatar f tn No problem. :) I've had the dexamethasone suppression test when Cushing's was suspected. My results were normal and my symptoms are actually due to severe insulin resistance. WebMD - Cortisol in Urine: "High values: * One cause of Cushing's syndrome is Cushing's disease, a condition caused by a noncancerous tumor of the pituitary gland (adenoma).
Avatar n tn I am 28 years old. I have never seen a menstrual cycle. When I was 18 years old I was put on premarin. A couple of months later I saw what I thought was my period for like 3 days, after that never saw it again. I haven't benn to a doctor ever again. Am I damaged goods? What should I do?

Avatar m tn I've been on Levothyroxine for about 5 weeks now. I just had my period which went from a normal 7 days to now 12 days (spotting). I also feel very crampy. I just went to see my GP today about this and she had them draw my blood to see where my TSH is at this point. My question is can Levothyroxine affect your menstrual cycle and make it completely whacky? That's all I can think would cause this since I've never had this problem until I started on this med.
Avatar f tn ve had any trauma either physical or emotional, if you have lost or gained weight. You also can look at your hormone levels and thyroid. Those impact irregular cycles as well and a blood test at your doctor's office could determine if this is the case. Managing stress is important. Think about what your triggers are and try to reduce or better, eliminate those as well as lead a healthy lifestyle that will promote less stress. https://www.mayoclinic.
