7139665 tn?1388442630 I am a 26 y/o f and I have been very sick for some time and wonder if it is thyroid related: * In December 2009, I went to bed with a mild knee pain, and woke up bedridden with excruciating pain in both knees. My knees weren't weak, they were just hurting a lot. Months and years following December 2009, doctors did a series of tests, but all of them came back inconclusive, though I am still unable to walk despite some improvements.
Avatar n tn I was shocked when I went in for a routine physical and discovered that I was hyperthyroid. I had lost some weight, yes, but was trying. The big difference was that I began eating Activa yogurt wtih bifides regularis bacteria. I loved it and could tell it speeded up my metabolism as I was not constipated. I started losing weight and was thrilled. Now the blood tests say I have "hyperthyroidism." I'm just wondering if there is a connection and I have a weird side effect.

194838 tn?1303428544 had been collaborating with other doctors, like Linus Pauling on the yeast syndrome and illness it can cause. I went to Dr. Crook, he did skin tests, and put me on a yeast free/suar fee diet, with rx for nystatin ( yeast fungus killer) powder. I lost 20 lbs, but I had no backpain, stomach burning that I also had, or migraine headaches. He published several books, one The Yeast Connection about patients. This is on alternative treatment that did work for me.

Sure think they do, but am so frightened of coming off amitrip as bladder so awful. Any help be grateful.
Avatar f tn ve been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
148532 tn?1216640562 When you go back and look at the people who developed thyroid disease, they all had anti thyroid antibodies BEFORE treatment! What this means is that if fibromyalgia is an immune mediated disease, then interferon can make it happen sooner than it would have anyway. One tough disease, followed by another is difficult to comprehend. Good luck!
Avatar f tn There is no definate connection to hypo and mono - but I think getting that virus can and will effect certain things. I wouldn''t rule thyroid problems out either.
Avatar m tn Has anyone looked into diet and goiters? I looked up goitergenic (sp?) foods and there was a list including peanuts, soya products, cruciferous vegetables, millet, stawberries, peaches. Oddly enough I was having large, large amts. of peanuts (my mom was buying them as a snack from the healthfood store), drink a lot of soya milk and have been eating millet bread! I also tend to indulge in the cruciferous vegetables more than others.

171867 tn?1271044148 After two years of suffering I finally get low dose of thyroid meds to suppress nodules in remaining lobe. Drs. are adament that there is no connection between the heart problem and the thyroid issues. Funny, NEVER had any health issue before thyroid surgery.... Anyone else??? Would love to hear from others just to confirm " I am NOT crazy".
Avatar f tn It's probably a case of both the GI issues and the thyroid issues exacerbating the PVCs and tachycardia. It's always nice when a couple of them get together and gang up on you! I've heard that an esophageal spasm feels very much like a heart attack. It's so hard to sort out exactly where everything is coming from.
907968 tn?1292622204 I don't think it does because i have thyroid and i eat and live a highly healthy lifestyle but my chloestrol is 6.4 which is very high. I feel and have researched that cholestrol is part of having thyroid, but the choletrol can be controlled.

648192 tn?1236223373 She has all these symptoms, plus depression and anxiety. Her doc said they used thyroid drugs in bipolar patients prior to the release of many current drugs used for mental illness. Are we ignoring simple solutions for making people feel good by advocating it is all "in her head"? Could some of her crying spells, lack of motivation, weight gain, lack of self confidence, fatigue and keeping her house at 75 degrees a symptom of hypothyroid?
Avatar f tn Graves Disease is most often associated with hyperthyroidism and causes the thyroid produces too much hormones. This is often treated with anti-thyroid medication, or the thyroid may have to removed or destroyed with radioactive iodine. Please post whatever thyroid blood test results you have, in order to allow members to better assess your situation. Be sure to include the reference ranges, since these vary lab to lab and must come from your own report.
Avatar m tn The main ones we recommend having tested when one is hypo are vitamin D, ferritin and Vitamin B-12. Vitamin D and iron are necessary for the metabolism of thyroid hormones and vitamin B-12 deficiency comes with its own set of problems shares some symptoms with hypo, such as fatigue and brain fog. Have you ever been been tested for Hashimoto's? If not, you should be.
Avatar n tn You should talk to your doctor and get yourself investigated for blood sugar levels, a complete hemogram and also get your thyroid function and lipid profile checked in view of the weight gain you mention. Have you noticed any other symptoms? Are you taking any antibiotics or any steroid medication - oral or inhaled etc? Let us know how you are doing and keep us posted about your reports. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Would make sure you are not on too much thyroid medication -- excessive thyroid hormone (from the thyroid itself or from medications) can cause heart palpitations and possibly atrial fibrillation which increases the risk of stroke. You need to look at your TSH level to make sure it is in the normal range. A cardiology evaluation may also be appropriate to make sure there is not a problem with the heart as it may have nothing to do with your history of thyroid disease.
Avatar f tn People who have one type of autoimmune condition are much more likely to develop another. Both thyroid and diabetes have autoimmune connection so they are often seen together. Also as we get older we are more prone to diabetes, and if we are heavier we may also be more prone (I don't know if that applies to you). However, proper medication and thyroid levels are critical to optimising your management of diabetes.
Avatar f tn Since giving up gluten, I do not have antibody attacks and I have cut my dependency on thyroid hormones and I feel GREAT! Yes, my thyroid is working again. Even if you tested negative for Celiac, and BTW, it's no coincidence that many Celiacs also have thyroid disease, you can still have a leaky gut and gluten intolerance. Many people with Hashi also can have issues with dairy, corn, soy, refined sugar and casein...
Avatar f tn If so, was it the only thyroid related test that was done? What about Free T4 and Free T3? Those are the actual thyroid hormones. If you had those tested what were the results and their reference ranges? Hypothyroidism can affect the heart if it's not treated properly. Have you had any heart-related tests done? If so, what tests and what were the results?
Avatar n tn m under the impression that yeast infections are, not to be too gross, moister and stickier than what you are describing. That's what led me to think it might be eczema - I have had that on my elbows, and I had the same type of patching and scaliness that you describe. There are other possibilities, the good news is they're pretty much all minor health issues from what I've read.
