Avatar f tn However, in the past week and a bit the ulcers have been reappearing, and the glands in my neck are swollen and painful. With a flashlight I am able to see that I have 5 ulcers on my cheeks and gums and multiple ones on the back of my very red throat. So I guess my question is: Is it possible that the test the doctor did could be a false negative? I have never had a cold sore ever, and I am not getting them now either, just the ulcers.

Avatar f tn 5mg of Synthroid daily, is it safe for me to take the supplements and reduce the Synthroid as l am trying to find away of reducing the effects of taking these drugs, not only can l not lose weight l also keep getting really painful mouth and tongue ulcers which research has suggested can be a side effect of thyroid problems.
Avatar m tn I am done with 21 injections but the side effects such as acute mouth ulcers and tongue blisters just dont seem to fade! Its pretty severe at times. Is this is a common side effect? If so, what can be the cause? I have tried a more than million gels, but nothing seems to cure other than the one that makes my mouth numb for an hour or so. Secondly, fatigue which is observed suddenly, is actually bad and makes me lie on bed the whole day!

Avatar f tn However, the duration of outbreaks, the number of ulcers, and the level of pain were reduced significantly at five and six months of treatment with vitamin B12, regardless of initial vitamin B12 levels in the blood. During the last month of treatment a significant number of participants in the intervention group reached 'no aphthous ulcers status' (74.1% vs 32.0%; P < .01).

Avatar n tn I have hypothyroidism and have had three episodes where my tongue swells, gets scalloped, turns red/blue, and has bumps like ulcers on the bottom side It is painful. I have brought it up to my endo and he says he's never heard of this with hypo and that's not the problem. I'm lost as this is my 7th endo because I have NEVER once tested normal no matter what meds they put me on with over 20 years of treatment.
Avatar f tn he did a full blood workup, including a thyroid test and an abdominal ultrasound and everything came back normal. He prescribed phenegran to take at night for nausea and it helps but I still have the "hunger and nausea" episodes during the day. I take pepto which helps too but I feel like these are all temporary solutions. I'm supposed to see him again in a couple of days. What do I do?
Avatar m tn Hello, This could be from angina, gall bladder disease, esophageal strictures, esophagus spasms, ulcers/ h. pylori infection, even reflux. It can also be from some sort of external pressure on your esophagus (like a mass from your thyroid, an esophageal "pocket", or an aortic vessel aneurysm). Since it is usually triggered after eating, and you have had a recent endoscopy (did it look at your bile duct?
Avatar n tn 2 years ago a whole new set of symptoms emerged, in my mouth with burning, swelling of tongue and tissues of my cheeks/lips and sores on roof of mouth and under my tongue. Included in the symptoms is sore throat and dry mouth. Last year my lip was biopsied for autoimmune (mother died of sarcoidosis...other autoimmune disorders run in family). The results showed "suggestive of sjogren's" but I've seen 3 rheumatologists and there is doubt in that diagnosis.
Avatar n tn my symptoms are extreme fatigue, no energy, insomnia, body aches, low mood, sore neck and throat area, frequent urination and strong odour of urine, mouth ulcers, grinding teeth, headaches, flaky scalp, intolerance to heat, night sweating especially on head and neck, muscle twitches at night mainly in feet and legs, dry eyes, heavy eyes and more recently talking in my sleep..
Avatar f tn He began to state he thought most of the symptoms could be attributed to my Thyroid issue. I was recently diagnosed with a thyroid nodule and while there, the Endo stated with the new TSH values, my TSH of 3.5 was considered hypothyroid so she started me on Synthroid. My sister has Hashimotos - but she said my thyoid look smooth other than the nodule, so she did not think Hashi's even with the positive ANA. I advised the above to the Rheumy who then proceeded with the exam.
687079 tn?1230948612 It was explained to me that their job assignment is center on the thyroid and only the thyroid that when the thyroid is removed, all though the antibodies may remain... they just hang out jobless. Thanks again...
Avatar m tn But because I know many people with thyroid issues have low iron, maybe for us it is not necessary to check all of the *other* reasons you might have low iron? (And just assume the iron issue is caused by the thyroid issue and not the other way around?) Thoughts?

Avatar f tn To avoid misdiagnosis, thyroid tests should include - TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), Free T3, Free T4, and thyroid antibodies - Thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) and Thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb). Doctors usually only test TSH and sometimes Total T4. This is why millions are misdiagnosed as both these tests can be normal with hypothyroidism.

Avatar f tn I agree with AnnieBrooke - you need to be seen by a different doctor! And preferably an ear, nose and throat doc! When you have a throat so sore that you can barely swallow, can't eat at all and have ulcers on your tonsils, SOMETHING definitely needs to be done! Did your doc even bother to do a strep test or anything? Strep throat can also cause ulcers in the throat and mouth and strep is definitely something that neeeds to be treated with antibiotics.
