Avatar f tn I personally am not a fan of the TSH only approach - that is a pituitary test. So they need to run thyroid tests to test the thyroid. So I hope that you also get thyroid testing. I would change docs if you are not happy - or go to a different specialty like GP or rheumy for other sets of tests as your symptoms are not specific and they need to look for other things.
Avatar n tn t Have a endocrinologist in your state, go to the other doctor and ask him/her to reapeat the analises (free T3, free T4 and TSH), ask for the TPO antibodies and anti-Tg antibodies (the other antibodies against the major protein of your thyroid) and ask for a ecography of your thyroid). Without these exams endocrinologist wount do anything. Then go to the doctor (endocrinologist) anyplace else with the analises and eco (then you need just one trip), but your to young, and check the nodule.
Avatar m tn You need to get some simple blood tests done. Those would be for thyroid function, TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, along with antibody tests, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab). The TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 will determine if you have hypothyroidism; the antibody tests will determine if you have an autoimmune thyroid condition, in which the body sees the thyroid as foreign and produces antibodies to destroy it. I do see by your profile that you are in UK.
Avatar n tn My Synthroid has been lowered from 150 to 130. I've been tired on and off lately, but I don't know if it is from the lower dose or not. It's not constant, but I just want to make sure what the symptoms would be if the dose was too low.
Avatar f tn Then last couple of months some symptoms returned, short of breath, tiredness, anxiety and last test TSH 3.9 but my doctor said not to increase my medication. then started getting this sudden fatigue, the problem I have is that whenever they increase my meds I seem to get intense anxiety and have to lower them again. Just wondered if these sudden fatigue was a symptom as it's a new one to me.
319399 tn?1254531681 These are things that I have found very helpful. It could also indicate a thyroid issue. It can make you fatigued and sleepy during the day and bad sleep at night. Just ask your doctor to test your levels, it wouldn't hurt.
Avatar n tn Hey guys, Thanks for responding. I'm not on any medication,i'm not overweight and my sugar, iron, thyroid etc were all checked and are all normal so this is why I don't understand why i'd be so exhausted! :( I take multivitamins too but they don't seem to help.
Avatar n tn I am also tired a lot. My thyroid and ovaries are normal, certain hormones are a little bit high, but the doctor says their abnormalities are too minor to matter. I don't know what else it could be. I'm only 18.
Avatar m tn What are the ranges on your T3 and T4? Also, do they say FREE T3 and FREE T4 or FT3 and FT4? If not, they are total T3 and total T4. Ranges vary lab to lab, so you have to post them with your results. Aso, what's the range on your TPOab? For most people, constipation is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Have you been tested for celiac disease?
Avatar f tn My thyroid I have had checked more times than I can count and they find nothing wrong. I have also had all hormonal testing done as the were sure I had polycysticovarian syndrome but that was rules out with an internal ultrasound about 3 years or so ago. My ultrasound is on June 4th and shall let you know how that goes.

I checked my blood pressure during one of these episodes and it was 129/75 so it's not that.. I"m on 100mcg of synthroid for the past 4 or 5 weeks "i was bumped up from 88mcg" my last labs were 4 or 5 weeks ago "when i was bumped up to 100mcg" was diagnosed hashi's 3 years ago.. Avatar n tn Feeling cold, slow pulse, low body temperature, dry skin, constipation, hair loss and thinning , depression and mood swings, tiredness, brain fog, frequent infections, and the list goes on. The thyroid controls the metabolism, and all systems can be sluggish due to thyroid insufficiency. Hope this helps, but you could soon check with a full thyroid blood panel, being FT3, FT4, TSH.
Avatar f tn Please post your thyroid labs with reference ranges. Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. FT4 often has to be midrange and FT3 upper half to third of range before symptoms go away. Just being "in range" isn't sufficient. You are symptomatic, so you are hypo. It sounds like you should be on meds. There's not a lot you can do but take meds. It doesn't necessarily have to be for life. Should your thyroid recover, you can stop taking them.
Avatar m tn To test thyroid function, you need to have Free T4, Free T3, which are actual thyroid hormones and the pituitary hormone called TSH, which stimulates the thyroid to produce thyroid hormones. Many doctors will try to test only TSH and think that's good enough - it's not, because it doesn't give the full picture. To test for they autoimmune condition, Hashimoto's, you need antibody tests, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb).
1176841 tn?1330832460 t find a cause so they tested my thyroid. My TSH was only 0.02 and the T4 Free was 1.7. What does this mean? I also have Hashimotos. Any help will be appreciated. I am female, 56yrs old TC147, HDL 69, LDL 70, Trigs 77. Weight 150 at 5'6". Not expecting all parts removed.
Avatar n tn First of all if you are still thirsty, loosing weight and having ketones, you are not in control. Ketones happen when your blood sugar is too high and your body is breaking down fat to get you energy, therefore you are loosing weight. These are all signs that you are NOT in control. and heading for ketonacidocisis. (Ketonacidosis can lead to serious problems such as coma is the levels are too high for too long.
Avatar f tn As I said earlier, any disorder of your gastrointestinal tract, associated with vomiting will lead to weight loss. If your blood sugar and thyroid levels are ok then you need to seriously consider this option. Talk to your doctor about this. Do let me know if there is any thing else you want to know and please keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have now had a course of 12 treatments of radiotherapy whioch was awful and I await to see if this has helped reduce the swelling behind my eyes. I still await squint surger to align my eyes up again and then eyelid surgery. My thyroid levels are not bad at the moment but the Graves Disease just makes me feel ill with all its various symptoms. I ma partially blind at the moment with the Hishimotos Graves Eye Disease.
Avatar m tn It could also be severe acidity or GERD. You need to undergo a few tests like blood tests for hemoglobin, thyroid and sugar and others like echo or CT scan as advised by your doctor. Please consult your doctor regarding this and do not ignore your symptoms. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage without examining you. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn ve been for tests after tests after being told my thyroid levels are normal (TSH and FT4 only). A recent FT3 test shows everything is normal, but perhaps lower half of normal quadrant. Additionally, I was on 175 mcg, lost three stone went down to 150mcg, put on that three stone, and I don't need more thyroxine because my levels are still normal. Two times I've managed to sleep properly was when I took an overdose of thyroxine, a massive dose, and pseudoephedrine.
616452 tn?1253877644 05 he reduced my thyroxine with 100umg less a week, for a period of 2 weeks, In that 2 week period I started feeling difficulty in swallowing, extreme tiredness, difficulty turning my head to the left side, Was send for thyroid ultrasound and a semi - solid cyst 2.5 x 1.8 x 2.2 was found on the left thyroid lobe. Also both thyroid lobes consistent with Hashimoto's. TSH at that time was 30 - currently on 100umg of thyroxine a day.

I also feel weak before my period and weak after it is finished. Please help me.

5359984 tn?1366865783 You should get a blood test for vitamin B12, as well as iron panel to see if you have an anemia, and some simple thyroid tests, which are Free T3, Free T4 and TSH to check for underactive thyroid.
Avatar f tn Hello~I would ask your doctor about fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, both can cause the brain fog. Fibro is diagnosed by pressing different "trigger points" I think chronic fatigue is diagnosed via blood work.
Avatar m tn Yes, those are symptoms of being hypo. You should post this and all the other info on the thyroid forum. There's not as many thyroid experts here as over there.
