703031 tn?1398963307 I've been diagnosed with thyroid (both Hashimoto's and Graves disease) and PCOS. Basically, I was diagnosed with PCOS first and my most my symptoms (including the weight gain) were said to be "due to the PCOS". My parents had been asking about my thyroid since before the PCOS diagnosis, but, of course, me only being 16 at the time, the doctors kept saying "it's the PCOS, she's too young for something wrong with her thyroid!!
1418727 tn?1282487078 Hey ladies, thanks for your response. I am on Synthroid 75mcg, I do not have PCOS, nor endomatriosis or enything, I do have another vaginal US on monday so we'll see but the US showed nothing before, and I don't have any PCOS sympthoms either. Just my AB for my thyroid are really high, that is the only thing that is wrong.
603412 tn?1220315536 You should have an AMH blood test, prenatal panel, thyroid check, and ultrasound to confirm PCOS. The thyroid, E2, progesterone, LH, and prenatal to make sure its not something else going on. The ultrasound and AMH to confirm PCOS. 25% of all pregnancies miscarry, so the fact that you had one is not a sure indicator that you have PCOS. I had 4 six week gestation or under pregnancies before being diagnosed with PCOS. I was found to be insulin resistant and was prescribed metformin.

Avatar f tn Hair loss and growth in other areas is a common symptom of that as well. I have both thyroid problems and PCOS and also suffer from the hair issues.
Avatar n tn Could you please tell me if all patients with pcos and hypothyroidism become overweight? I have had pcos for about 4 years and I have just recently been diagnosed with having a mild case of hypothyroidism. I eat very healthy, exercise, and my weight has never been an issue. I was just alittle confused because most of the other woman I met who have pcos are over weight and some are having problems conceiving. I am a mother of 4.
Avatar f tn The Pediatric Endocrinologist fought me on the issue of Hypothyroidism, but did agree to give my daughter Metformin for PCOS. Her argument (regarding thyroid) was that the TSH number wasn't off by that much, and she went on and on about nutrition. I did explain that I had seen a nutritionist, and that following the "healthy eating" plan never resulted in weight loss. I also explained many other symptoms, such as dry, itchy scalp and exhaustion in the mornings.
Avatar n tn hey i have PCOS too and i am on metformin also..dont get discoraged at first you tend to gain weight i did i gained like 20 lbs..it was horrible..but now im 31 lbs with diet and working out 3-4 times a week..it can happen!!! GOOD LUCK!!
Avatar f tn Thyroid hormones and estrogen go hand-in-hand for many of us. I was just the opposite - had an ovary removed for PCOS in '96, thyroid cancer in '03, other ovary removed for PCOS (huge, hemorrhagic cysts) in '06 and ongoing fibrocystic breast disease. All are fed by hormones (either thyroid hormones or estrogen) and many, many of us on the forum have these problems.
Avatar f tn i am 26 yrs married for 4 yrs. I have thyroid and pcos problem.I tested TSH (6.10) and i m trying to get pregent from last 1 yr but i m not able to concieve.
Avatar f tn So we discussed my hormone levels with my doctor today. She said in office that because of my enzyme activity being completely off the charts and elevated cortisol metabolites, I might have PCOS or a tendency for it. However, she later called and said that she's over 90% sure that I do have PCOS. Even though my testosterone is normal. So basically, they want to just treat that and forget about my thyroid. Meanwhile, I'm going completely insane.
Avatar n tn hi i am 22 and was diagnosed with hashimoto (underactive thyroid) when i was 12 years old, i started at 50mg and now take 200mg of thyroxine a day.
363243 tn?1331033850 ve had them for 18 years now. Does anyone know if there is a link between PCOS and clinical depression? Also, is there anyone else out there with Hashimoto's thyroiditis along with PCOS. I'm going crazy with depression, hirsuitism, pelvic pain, panic attacks, excess weight, slight acne, oily skin, fatigue, etc. If anyone has these symptoms please tell me what treatment you've sought and what has helped you if anything. Thanks and good luck.
Avatar f tn Oddly enough, over the next year or so my PCOS symptoms (which were depression, mood swings, fatigue, but pretty much nothing else relating to PCOS) became more about a low thyroid. I am now PCOS free and being treated with Armour for my thyroid condition. Has your doc run any tests looking at blood sugar levels/insulin? I never had this done, just blood showing high testosterone and multiple cysts on ultrasound.
Avatar m tn Is it possible they test for STDs and not just PCOS, Diabetes, and thyroid?
Avatar m tn 8 T3 total 153) My symptoms include hair loss, major fatigue, chest pains, short of breat, hives. However I am unable to lose weight (I am also diagnosed with PCOS). I have an appt. with and endo in July but I was wondering, with my symptoms, what are my chances of getting more energy and having my metabolism go up? Is this something that medication can do, or is that just a common symptom of hyerthyroidism? I'm 22 and all this presented after I gave birth (at 19).
Avatar f tn m not sure how PCOS actually relates to your son being born without a thyroid; and yes, PCOS is an endocrine condition. So is your thyroid part of the endocrine system. Do you have thyroid issues yourself? PCOS and hypothyroidism often go hand in hand.
3158366 tn?1343598616 I take 400mcg of levothyroxine for my thyroid. I am on my fourth child and took thyroid medication throughout all of them if your thyroid is not under control your baby could have birth defects my doctor said.
Avatar f tn I have been considering getting referred to an endocrinologist before starting treatment for PCOS, and also getting the extra thyroid tests done that I mentioned in my last post. I figure they may have a different take on things from my regular GP, and may therefore be more accurate in their diagnosis. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I am looking at starting a family in the next few months but due to my weight and thyroid as well as the possible PCOS i am worried. Can someone advice as to whether I have PCOS and what are the medications for the same. Will I be able to get pregnant?
Avatar f tn Alternatively the skin issues could be separate from the thyroid. Please read up on PCOS and see if it fits. Ask your doctor about it. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is more commonly seen in people with thyroid issues.
Avatar f tn I'm in the exact same boat as you! I've had pcos testing which was neg. and thyroid testing which came back normal to! My cycles range from 30 to sometimes even 50 days and I have no idea why. I too am on 24 dpo and still no period. Ugh. Did yours ever come?
