Avatar f tn i have an 8 year old chihuahua (rosa). I also have 3 other dogs, which are NOT overweight by the way. Two other chihuahuas and a mexican hairless. She's not overeating but is still over weight. I had her on weight loss medication and she lost a few pounds but i just didnt feel right keeping her on it because its not good for their systems. Does anyone have any ideas about how i can have her loose weight but not the other three.
Avatar f tn tests are TSH, Free T3 and Free T4; however, you should also get tested for thyroid antibodies to confirm/rule out Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Do see the specialist as soon as possible, since the longer you wait, the worse things will get. Hypothyroidism is not something to be let go. Getting your thyroid issue under control is most important and can only be done with thyroid replacement medication.
7216845 tn?1389269243 I'm almost 24 and very overweight (5 feet 5 inches and 260 pounds). I have high blood pressure also and a few breathing problems (nothing too serious). I have tried everything, to shed the weight, but nothing works! Is there any way I can look into a medical insurance to lose weight?
Avatar m tn m with Misfits4me in thinking it might be helpful to have a little more specific data -- like what were you feeding when she got overweight and how much, and what does she weigh now. I would add to that, what is the goal weight for her, just so we know how much she needs to lose? I can tell you that, with one of my dogs that tends to overeat and be overweight, I have not found the weight control-type of dog foods to be helpful. Those have a lot of bulk added, to reduce caloric density.
Avatar f tn The guidelines on the food bags are really just that - basic guidelines. They are very generalized based on how much a dog should need each day to maintain its body in good weight. What they don't (or can't really) take into consideration is how each dog is different. Some are easy keepers, needing very little food to maintain their body weight, while others might need almost twice the recommended daily ration to stay in good weight.
Avatar n tn The reason I ask is that thyroid disorders by themselves--both hyper-and hypofunctioning of the thyroid--often cause heart arrhythmias, and until the thyroid problem is diagnosed and correctly treated, it can be quite dangerous to add herbal or any other medications to the prescriptions your husband has been given.
Avatar m tn I recently got lab work and my cholesterol levels are ideal (LDL, VLDL), triglycerides are actually quite low. How does it make sense that i am overweight and yet my lab results point to the fact that i consume low levels of fat? I also find it extremely difficult to lose weight, could there be something else that is wrong with me?
Avatar f tn I have a 6 year old daughter that had reflux surgery 2 years ago and is still wetting on herself. She is a very active child and is still very overweight. She is about 4ft 9in tall and weighs 128lbs. I am 5ft 8in and weigh 155lbs. I am wondering if her reflux and thyroid are connected? Please help us. Thank you!!
Avatar f tn Or, it could be that your body is reacting to something in the Synthroid and causing side effects, in which case you can look into trying a different kind of thyroid med like Tirosint, which is a gelcap and free from many of the fillers that people react to in pills like lactose, dyes, etc. In either case, please post your test results with ranges so we can get a better idea of what's going on.
Avatar f tn Okay so first let me say that i have a thyroid issue. I'm on synthroid 75mcg daily. I have under active thyroid. Well at wic today they weighed me, and I've lost about 20 pounds already. When I first got pregnant I was about 275, now I'm at 253. My doctor doesn't seem worried but I am. Idk. And also, how much of my weight is baby and water now? Like because obviously some is bab y.
Avatar n tn I agree with the need to make sure you get plenty of vitamin B-12, which comes only from animal products. Also make sure to eat nutrient dense foods, not just anything because it's not from an animal. In addition to everything else that's been mentioned, you should be sure to have your thyroid function tested to make sure there's enough thyroid hormones for, both, you and your fetus.
Avatar f tn I took a fasting Glucose test that came up at 100 so now they say I might be pre-diabetic. But one poster here mentioned something about Thyroid and to tell your doctor if you have a thyroid condition. Well last year I was diagnosed with Hypo-thyrodism which means my thyroid doesn't produce enough of the Thyroid hormone. And I also know that when I had the Glucose test my thyroid levels may have been off because my doctor just adjusted my medication.
Avatar n tn I have been overweight all my life. But, at Thanksgiving this year, my brother calculated my BMR for me and I began losing four to five pounds a month. In February, my doctor prescribed two new meds: Alesse to control my irregular menstrual cycle and iron for anemia. Since March, my weight loss has stalled, even though I am still counting calories and burning five hundred calories five days a week at the gym. Could the cause of the stall be either of the new meds?
Avatar n tn she has gained a lot of weight due to thyroid and is now 3 months pregnant. the doctor has asked her to lose weight,so can anyone suggest some tips please.and will there be any complications because of her weight and thyroid?
Avatar f tn He was a smoker, drinker, high fat diet and overweight. My grandmother (his mother) was just overweight. My brother and sister both have high cholesterol like me. I was on INH isoniazid for 6 months years ago for tuberculosis (I didn't convert), which changed my metabolism. I gained 50 lbs. from taking the medicine. I always wondered if it damaged my kidneys or liver.
Avatar n tn and my TSH 3rd generation w/reflex to FT4 shows 8.23 and I was started on 25mcg Thyroid. Since I am now overweight and just coming out of lung cancer, it would seem since I am now in a program to lose weight and exercise, that I should not be on medicine until tested again? My husband has been on medication for a while ...on 50 mcg and his test shows TSH 3rd generation w/reflex to FT4 at 3.75 which is in range...however, neither of us had any symptoms or problems until tested.
Avatar m tn Most of here are thyroid patients. Many of us are overweight, including myself and I'm also hypothyroid. I'm sorry, we don't offer a full diet chart. We advocate eating a healthy diet, consisting of fruits, veggies, lean meats, unrefined grains, low/no fat dairy and of course watch the portion sizes. Some advocate eliminating grains and/or dairy, but I feel that if you don't have an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to them, they are an important part of a balanced diet.
Avatar m tn We were told my grandson who just turned three this month is having thyroid issues and was put on pedisure. They said it could clear up in a months time. My grandson doesn't live with his mother and the paternal grandparents have played head games with her many times over so am needing some insight on this to make sure that this isn't possibly another one. They were not told to go see an endocrinologist. They were just told to put him on pediasure and it could clear up in a month.
1563692 tn?1300336433 Hi there, Iam 27 years old, I have a 4 month old baby and i found a lump in my thyroid about 4 weeks ago. Avatar n tn My husband is a very big 66 year old man, but very overweight, and NOTHING he does makes him loose weight. He is diabetic as well. He consumes less food than I do a day, and I am not overweight. I believe this could be metabolism somehow, but, doctors have checked thyroid. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. No one can seem to be able to help him.
Avatar f tn Just had my blood sugar tested today and it was 110, and I read that is a little over normal. I am also about 40lbs overweight and have more fruit juices, sweets and food than I should. Could the 110 or any of it be thyroid related? Is 110 cause for concern? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I'm at my wits end on what to do for my 9 year old daughter. Approx. 2+ years ago she started putting on weight and became EXTREMELY moody!!! She's had a thyroid test (which showed negative), she was tested for ODD and she was borderline, and she has seen a psychiatrist which doesn't seem to do much for her. I posted this question before and someone suggested "early puberty". I think it's more.
9924471 tn?1419954420 I was 5'5 at 205 !! And then soon enuff the nasuea kickied in and vomiting and lost 30 PDS! Now I only have gained 8,pounds throughout and I'm at 31 weeks. At 186 or so I think....
Avatar f tn I am slighly overweight and yea my docter is treating my hyperthyroid disorder
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with Graves. My doctor strongly suggests RAI. I am very concerned about the potential weight gain afterwards since I am currently overweight. I haven't dropped any weight since experiencing symptoms (starting about 5 years ago) and from everything I've read that normally happens. How much weight is usually gained after going hypothyroid? How easy is it to get off and maintain?
Avatar m tn t answer a lot of your questions, being female and all, but I can tell you that my brother has alot of the same issues. He is overweight and smokes, but he also had his hormones tested and his testosterone levels were off-the-chart LOW. This has led to even more weight-gain for him and very low libido. He was told there was nothing they could do about his low testosterone, but I have heard that they can give you testosterone injections.
Avatar f tn Hair loss and growth in other areas is a common symptom of that as well. I have both thyroid problems and PCOS and also suffer from the hair issues.
Avatar n tn These proteins have Tyrosine an amino acid which aids in the production of the adrenal, thyroid, and pituitary glands. Vitamin B6, folic acid, and copper are necessary for conversion of tyrosine into neurotransmitters. But watch the cholesterol! Weight is a big issue thyroid or not - 66 % of the world's population is overweight. Happy Dieting! GL - Graves' Patient.
