Avatar f tn t even walk two steps or move my arms without heating up and sweating!! And then after sweating I would go extremely cold. Anyone here have Hypothyroid and OCD? Does it go away after treating the thyroid? Are these different disorders even related to eachother? Thanks.
943760 tn?1318604430 So, I can sympathize with you. Are you taking any thyroid meds? Talk to your doctor about having a thyroid panel done and adressing those issues first. I truly believe that once your thyroid has been resolved that some of the anxiety will be relieved. At least thats what I'm trying to believe. I'm right there with you and will be happy to communicate if it helps. Hang in there.
Avatar m tn I totally agree with JGF25 and her advice.HIV and OCD can go hand in hand and make life very difficult, learn the modes of transmission and then walk away,to much reading about HIV on the internet can make your OCD worse and it won't help the situation.Modes of transmission, window periods and how long the virus survives outside it's living host is all you need to know. All the best.
Avatar f tn t find a doctor who will take me seriously and treat me properly. I have a new primary/internist and he thinks I am bipolar and OCD and he put me on a low dosage of Zoloft and sending me to a therapist for treatment. No one I know thinks I am bipolar. Is the thyroid condition causing all these mental problems for me or no?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in May, although I suspect I've had it for a long time as I have put on a great deal of weight, although I exercise almost daily, and my then-doctor didn't take my weight gain seriously. My thyroid levels are still pretty off and I also have psych problems.......I have had an eating disorder in the past and could not cope with the weight gain, so I was taking too much of my thyroid medication in hopes of lowering the number on the scale.
Avatar f tn 20 mg prozac is a low dosage and generally not in the therapuetic range for OCD treatment. Generally dosages are 20 to 40 mg for depression, and 60 to 80 mg (and occasionally higher) for OCD. I personally took 80 mg prozac for 16 years. And I agree with JGF25. Long term effects? I wouldn't BE HERE long term if I hadn't taken meds. I also have low thyroid. Years ago, my dr. said to just view my SSRI as I do my thyroid supplement, something my body needs.
Avatar m tn am taking lexapro, lamotrigine, lithium carbonate for depression, ocd and mod swings. also take others for thyroid, blood pressure, acidity, etc. have been taking depression/ocd medicines for over 15 yers now, but they have been changed. wotk and sometimes exemplified for alertness and capacity for hard work. lately find that i cannot sleep well max.
Avatar m tn Yes, I have hypothyroidism, and I have had no prior OCD tendancies. I will stay the course with Zoloft and thyroid replacement therapy and hope for slow improvement. Thanks!
Avatar n tn 140% baseline) The endo has concluded that the insomnia is not related to thyroid, and referred us back to our PCP and his Psychiatrist (whom he was seeing for social anxiety). However, he continues to battle some pretty big symptoms.
Avatar m tn Hey everyone, I hope you're doing well. I have a question about clomipramine, and I'm eager to hear your insights. I've been taking clomipramine for 20 years to manage OCD and anxiety. But I started to worry about the adverse effects of long-term use of this medication. Looking forward to connecting with you all!
Avatar m tn OCD and Bipolarity are two separate things. But as far as I know from a book issued by the health ministry in Canada that OCD, panick disorder and ADHD are gateways to BP. This is why the symptoms of BP can be hidden for a long time and misdiagnosed as OCD and the like.
680767 tn?1254830575 I underwent the radioactive iodine process in at the end of March (this year) and lost my thyroid completely by the beginning of May. I am struggling mentally and feel like I am losing it. I am SO anxious about everything, even the exciting things in life make me anxious and I can't enjoy them. I feel depression with OCD creeping in and I feel like all of this has changed my brain chemistry. Is this something that you think will go away?
5681148 tn?1372266454 Say I'm walking down the street to school or something. If I hear a car coming behind me, I walk slightly faster and try to get past a tree or a crack in the paving or anything that marks a point in the road. I try to do this before the car passes me. This somehow reassures me that the day is going to be good. It's kind of like gambling in a weird way..
Avatar m tn Hi , one of my bro had OCD and got treatment also around 10Years back .Sometimes OCD thought errupt when he is alone or gets feared the thought suddenly errupt and loop and stops after sometime. Avatar f tn I’m terrified to ask him because it’s my dear friends boyfriend and I don’t want to open up a can of worms for something that maybe didn’t happen. Is this OCD? I’m terrified this isn’t OCD and I’ve done this horrible thing. It would destroy a friendship I truly cherish and be the nail in the coffin for my own relationship with my boyfriend.
Avatar f tn I feel like something crawling under my skin. No itching, no burning, no scabies and no bugs. I've had complete blood work done and no thyroid problem, no diabetes, and definitely no std. My skin is not dry at all, as a matter of fact i get compliment on how soft my skin is. Ive been using cocoa butter since i was very young. I have not changed anynithing from what i been using all along. I'm in great health I eat chicken, fish and turkey. I drink water and apple juice with no sugar.
704262 tn?1247674638 Upon much reflexions, I came to identify my OCD as psychosis and not OCD, i.e. i use to do wrong things (not washing hands regularly like OCD do or open then close the door or afraid from touching things) but mainly it was racing thoughts which my old pdoc took it for OCD and now i know it's symptoms of BP. So perhaps your husband is never OCD rather BP only with much racing thoughts. In the book it also says (wikipedia too) that for BP to be discovered by pdocs often takes a decade.
Avatar f tn Okay this might be kinda long. Sorry but I am looking for answers. 10 yrs ago I gave birth to my youngest. It was found right after his birth that I had hypothyroid and needed synthroid. I also took Zoloft. Okay as time went on I took a combo of anti-depressants and continued with the thyroid meds. I also was dx'd with GAD (Anxiety disorder) ADHD and OCD which I do feel is correct.
1445110 tn?1388209711 I ended up in the ER last night with right side pain. I had my gallbladder out in may. The dr. said my liver enzymes were elevated but didnt seem worried about it. Anyway the reason i am asking although it sounds like a gastro question is that ive been looking around and it says that hypothyroidism can cause that to happen. I was just wondering if anyone else on here has had that happen to them. Of course i have severe anxiety anyway and ocd so now this is worrying me to death. ...
Avatar f tn I just recently went to a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with OCD and panic disorder and put me on Paxil. As a routine, they always check TSH for new patients. I haven't went back to the doctor yet but I got my test results. TSH 6.85 and cholesterol 204. They did not check my T3/T4. I have been very tired lately and I am wondering if maybe my anxiety and high cholesterol is connected to my thyroid? Should I be concerned about this and should I mention it to my doctor?
6207205 tn?1389773318 I had OCD badly when I had vitamin B12 malabsorption and also to some degree with my thyroid imbalances. All due to low serotonin levels. Increase serotonin and say goodbye to your OCD and any of the other symptoms you might be suffering with. I had plenty from that list below! Excerpt from Nutritional Healing...
