541196 tn?1293552936 Type 2 diabetic, but controlled. High Blood Pressure, not controlled as well as it should be. I also have Hashimotos thyroid and a prolactinoma brain tumor (see what I mean that she's already overwhelmed with me?). Other symptoms I have noticed in addition to the pain and cloudy urine are fatigue, swelling/water retention in hands, feet, legs and face, and Vitamin D deficiancy... which my dr. thinks could also be from my thyroid. I see an endocrinologist as well as a primary dr.
514349 tn?1272801633 ve noticed weight loss and decreased appetite. Diabetes may make them hungrier than usual and kidney disease causes the opposite.
Avatar n tn Ok, i don't know how to start, so i'll just tell you. It is about my dad. He has many diseases, like kidney failure and hyperthyroid. I'm writing here to look for some help, therapies or natural herbs or something, anything that would help him. Hyperthyroid he got last year, and kidney failure he have now about 25 years or so. If anyone know, have ideas, i would really appreciate that.
Avatar m tn I have heard of thyroid function affecting kidney function. Do a google on thryoid function and kidney disease. Here's an article: http://www.eje-online.
Avatar f tn Uses litter box, but still urinating frequently and drinks fair amount of water. Is there a way to tell if she has kidney disease/failure and not pyelonephritis without doing an ultrasound?
4822967 tn?1367656696 I had acute kidney failure and have thyroid issues both hyper and hypo symptoms. I had severe itching and anaemia as two of my many symptoms of kidney failure. Hypothyroidism is another cause of anaemia. To add, anaemia of chronic disease is a common condition associated with a wide variety of persistent inflammatory diseases. Diabetes is the number one cause of CKD.
Avatar f tn Right now I am waiting to see a specialist on some Thyroid issues, goiter and nodules, etc... Any relation to kidney and thyroid issues?
Avatar n tn It is evident from your history that fluid accumulation is present, and this in turn can happen due to kidney failure, heart failure, protein deficiency etc. Are your symptoms of the same intensity as it were before? If the intensity has decreased then correction of cause leading to CHF is under process. An echo gives a better picture than EKG for enlargement of heart of valve abnormalities.
Avatar n tn Kidney failure/ pneumonia/ blockage of lung blood vessels (pulmonary embolism)/ pancreatitis. Test will be given in order to determine the underlying cause. Then a treatment protocol will be administered to treat the symptoms and to remove or reduce the fluid. There are a few other possibilities but the ones mentioned above are the most common. Try not to assume the worst. Doctor's have the ability and resources to do amazing things this day and time.
Avatar n tn The two things that pop into my head when an older animal starts to drink excessively and urinate in the house are kidney failure and diabetes, although there can be other reasons. A trip to the vet is definitely in order ASAP. If you catch it early, kidney failure is something that an animal can live comfortable with for quite a few years, so don't panic.
82861 tn?1333453911 If there is no infection than your dog has kidney damage or kidney failure, and you will have to treat agressively to save the kidneys by using Sub Q fluid therapy, phosphate binders if the phosphate is also elevated, kidney saving herbs such as Rehmannia 8 and more. Please write back once you have additional test results. Thanks.
Avatar m tn The doctors want to do an MRI with dye on my one and only kidney. Being CKD Stage III and my kidney functions are not the best anyway. 33 GFR and 1.6 creatinine. I don't need additional problems such as messing with my thryroid levels. Does anyone have a clue about this dye (metal dye) or having it create problems with the thryoid after having the dye?
Avatar f tn All my blood work was normal including kidney and thyroid function. My family physicain ordered an echo that showed Mild Tricuspid and Mitral regurg and Mild mitral valve thickening. Just wondering if this could be the cause of my symptoms? I do have a large family history of heart problems my mom has severe bradycardia and has a small anuerism. My dads side of the family has MVP history. My doctor has also ordered a sleep study and referred me to a cardiologst.
Avatar f tn How is it that they can take out the thyroid gland and kill the rest with RAI and then some show up later in your lungs or breasts or wherever? How do thyroid cells end up in your lungs or anywhere else in your body? Do we have lung cells in our kidneys? Heart cells in our pancreas? I don't understand how thyroid cells can be lingering in other organs. This is probably a stupid question but I really want to know!
Avatar m tn But because I know many people with thyroid issues have low iron, maybe for us it is not necessary to check all of the *other* reasons you might have low iron? (And just assume the iron issue is caused by the thyroid issue and not the other way around?) Thoughts?
Avatar m tn Hi my dog is 3 year old took her vet cos she was sick it was green so they took a blood test and it came back of the scales the vet said its says high for the urea 46.4 and crea 749 and phos says 5.
Avatar f tn I lost my dog in August of 2006 from kidney failure. She was lethargic and had no appetite, so I took her to the vet. He thought she could recover with iv fluids, etc. and so she spent 4 days at the vet clinic. She didn't like other dogs or the vet, so I still feel bad that this is where she spent the last few days of her life. In the end they couldn't do anything for her so I had her put to sleep. It was a very difficult thing. I found the following website very useful.

Avatar f tn My 6 year 10 month Russian Blue male cat was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with kidney failure. His only symptons were a bout of vomiting and lethargy. His blood work was quite elevated, BUN 83mg/dl, CREA 5.1mg/dl, PHOS 8.8mg/dl. He has been given fluids twice and we have been giving him Azodyl capsules twice a day. Also sprinkling Epikatin on his food twice a day. We have been trying to transition him to renal diet with not a lot of success.
Avatar m tn Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
