Avatar f tn Has anyone had hair loss post tx, like 1 yr. later. I am having alot of hair loss in the past 3 weeks. I am also wondering if it is o.k. to take hair vitamins. Not currently on tx. I take fish oil, garlic, vit D and calcium. I think since I am not on tx. that this is O.K. Am I wrong?
Avatar f tn It started freaking me out so my hubby looked it up and said the number one cause of hair loss in women is pregnancy...
Avatar f tn (( Do you have any hormonal issues? PCOS can cause it, if you are near menopause? So, have you had your hormones checked?
Avatar n tn If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Correcting the hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss. Many women notice hair loss about 3 months after they've had a baby. This loss is also related to hormones.
Avatar n tn In November i was on anti biotics and anitflammatory for nearly 3 weeks for a sport related injury and was under alot of stress so i dont know if that had more to do with it, i have visited 2 doctors in regards to this and 1 of them said it could be androgenetic without even doin any tests or asking about family history, he told me to use anaphase shampoo and chronotism sprays which is a course of 1 month, now its been 3 weeks and i still see hair fall in the shower and hair is thin,i have cut
Avatar f tn Research has shown that a large proportion of women reporting hair loss had low ferritin levels, compared with the levels generally found in women without hair loss, and interestingly in men. The main reason for this difference is due to the loss of blood during menstruation, which is just enough to cause a gradual depletion of iron stores, particularly in women who eat little or no red meat.
192918 tn?1199451179 So this is a very silly question - but I'm having A LOT of hair loss....to the point that I'm getting some ugly bald spots (not at all pretty on women!!) When I finally get on the right meds, will my hair grow back or will I always be stuck with bald spots/thin hair?
Avatar f tn I had some hair loss two years ago in the fall. I always shed some hair in the fall, I think that is just the end of the resting phase for my hair every year. But anyway, two years ago, A LOT of it fell out. I really panicked. So I went to a dermatologist who specializes in hair and she put me on OTC Rogaine and Nizoral shampoo. Both of them are DHT blockers and have been used for years in the re-growth of hair.
Avatar f tn My real concern is beating this virus. And yes, wacky thyroids can cause more hair loss. Nygirl experienced thyroid problems and hair loss so she can tell you her experience but doesn't get on the board during the weekends. I'm thinking about a Dolly Parton wig since big hair is coming back in.
676032 tn?1315674063 The whole family was shocked at first but have since got used to it, He has hypothyroidism also.. Im wondering if any1 has advise, could it be the thyroid causing the hair loss or is it actually alopecia (I too have hypothyroidism so know its effects). When he was 8 months old he had open heart surgery for a heart murmur, He was a really sick baby up until he had the operation. So mom has kinda put it down to the stress his body went through when he was a baby.
Avatar f tn I have a question about my hair loss and my thyroid....not sure if anyone would have an idea of what went on, but I'm about to start Armour, and I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing here. \ I have had many hypo symptoms for years ....hair loss, anxiety, freezing all the time, cold hands/feet..... The most distressing symptom, by a long shot....hair loss. Three years ago, I had pneumonia.
Avatar n tn all sorts of things can cause hair loss, not just stress ( though for some of us stress really will do it ). Vitamin deficiencies, anemia, changes in hormones and thyroid issues are all common causes too. I'd google hair loss in women more before your appointment and go in armed with a list of questions!
Avatar f tn I just did my last shot (wk 48) and my hair started to come back in around wk. 40. I thought the tx had stopped working but I am still UND. It was noticeable and people did ask me how I was feeling. I had all the classic sx, weight loss, drawn face, no energy, rash, etc. But folks say I look better now. Gotta believe!

Avatar n tn But, it is not a consistent weight loss medication. However it does have other benefits for women with PCOS, including improving the likelihood of spontaneous ovulation, or making women who need clomid to help them ovulate more sensitive to clomid. Are your periods regular? What are your goals - weight loss? Pregnancy? If weight loss, a nutritionist might be helpful.
Avatar n tn s your thyroid have your hair loss evaluated by a dermatologist or hair loss expert to rule out any other causes. However, make sure your thyroid is not being under treated or change thyroid drug brands. It just might be the thyroid condition itself which just needs time to heal. Hair and nails are the last to heal and take the longest to heal than all the thyroid symptoms, so patience might be the only medicine.
Avatar n tn ve struggled to keep my thyroid working so my symptoms are all over the place lol. Most common symptom for me though is hair loss, not going bald hair loss just falling out everywhere hair loss.
