Avatar m tn I went and looked back at some older photos and I always had full eyebrows, I have been thyroid meds for years, but stopped taking them when I went hyper. now I am still off but always at around a 5-6.5 TSH, I have hashimotos also.
Avatar m tn A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypo patient clinically by testing and adjusting Free T3 and Free T4, as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important, not just test results. Rather than clinical treatment, most doctors and Endos alike seem to have the "Immmaculate TSH Belief" or use "Reference Range Endocrinology", either of which frequently leaves a thyroid patient hypo.
Avatar f tn t know what causes my hair issues but I am on thyroid meds and I simply assume it has something to do with thyroid levels. It's not bad enough for me to talk to a doc about.
634733 tn?1316625992 I was told it come with age... mine and my twin have both thinning eyebrows, we had thick eye brows when we were younger, say 10 years ago...now in our 50s...we use a pencil...never had to before?? I wonder if it's autoimmune...she has RA?
Avatar f tn The pressure urticaria and vitiligo is what made me think thyroid. I had the rheumatoid factor and that was negative. That's when we discovered the low positive ANA. Thanks so much!! O and my mom has rheumatoid, fibro, lichen planus, and ulcerative colitis What type of test would you run for the symptoms I mentioned?
Avatar m tn My 11 year old daughter recently started puberty. Thre weeks ago (in the course of a week), she lost all of her eyelashes. And over the last couple weeks, she's been losing her eyelashes. She does not have any patchy losses of hair on her scalp or elsewhere on her body. A number of hairs over her forehead have recently shown some breakage. Whereas her hair is generally very long and straight, these hairs have broken off at about 2-3 inches in length and generally stick up.
Avatar n tn Oh make that thyroid hcv or hepc and thyroid, etc.
Avatar m tn Also i am of indian decent, and I have had all blood work done for protien stds and thyroid. Everythign was perfect.
Avatar m tn Have your doctor check your thyroid. Someone just mentioned it to my mom. She has half eyebrows and just had them tatooed. A friend saw on Dr. Oz something about a connection between hypothyroid and half eyebrows. It's worth checking it out.
Avatar m tn My brows have never been perfectly full and thick, but they were for sure a lot thicker before this started to happen. The doctors took thyroid and vitamin bloodtests on me, and the thyroid test came out normal but it turns out I lack Vitamin D. Could this be the reason why I'm loosing eyebrow hairs? I'm also on accutane medication for my acne, but my problem started a couple months before I started accutane so I don't think it's what's causing my eyebrow hair loss.

1640745 tn?1300658496 Hi there, I am a 28 years old female with no major health problems I am aware of. For two months now I've been experiencing severe hair loss ( half of the hair mass on the head is gone). I also noticed that I lose an unprecedented amount of eyelashes and eyebrows. It's been going on for few months, and I've never had it before. I practically gave up using mascara or eyebrow pencil because when I apply it I get at least 3-5 strands out.
Avatar f tn My thyroid is really giving me trouble. I noticed in the last two years my eyebrows have thined :( Is this because my thryroid is bouncing from hypo to hyer. I was on 200mg of synroid (sp). Now I am at 175mg to lower the hyperthyroid, TSH level was .011. Granted I have lost 20lbs, but I want my eyebrows back. My hair has also stopped growing :( Still thick but now little growth. What to do???
1470343 tn?1316638624 Hey! I was quite hypo for a while after surgery and RAI before the levels picked up a bit. I'm still hypo, but not as bad...and I've noticed, my eyebrows did thin and my hair got super dry and gross looking...but since the thyroid meds have made the levels rise a bit the eyebrows have regrew like they used to be (I have noticed I'm waxing/plucking them more recently) and my hair has got some better. Still a little dry but it's getting there!
Avatar m tn It is a chronic but relatively easy to treat skin condition that supposedly results from too much oil on the skin and commonly affects the scalp and eyebrows, but can also affect the face and chest. I have no idea if this is it, but I have been experiencing a little hair loss on the scalp, but once treated, the hair will grow back. See your doctor though; I am just providing a possible cause of your daughter's eyebrow hair loss.
676032 tn?1315674063 I was just thinking if it was the thyroid causing it that it could be helped with and increase or something in meds. Depending on his levels.
Avatar n tn Your thyroid can be bad and the tsh fluctuate so it's missed on the bloodwork...mine did that..I am lucky they finally tested when it was up.
Avatar n tn My eyebrows and lashes fell out. I also am a fitness trainer and saw wieight gain no matter how much I worked out. My doctor told me my test was just slightly below average. I insisted on the med levothyroxine.and am now slim, trim and active with eyebrows and lashes. We have to be our own advocates, Also hormones may be atttributing. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I was uncertain if I should keep requesting thyroid increases but I did and I am so glad, I am taking 3 grains naturethroid and my FT4 is usually just above the range but I feel...normal. I thought it might be too much but it isn't, I am very grateful for the advice here. My hair loss didn't stop and my scalp was starting to show, it was depressing.
Avatar m tn With the joint pain, and the anxiety and depression.....I would also get your Anti-TPO and thyroid anti bodies checked.....could be Hashimoto's which is a whole different set of symptoms and needs to be managed more aggresively than plain hypothyroidism. Hip pain can be a sign of autoimmune inflammation. Make sue to ask for these in addition.
Avatar n tn It sounds Hypo , But It could be doing this thing called waxing and waning... meaning sometimes it is normal and sometimes it is out of whack. Since Thyroid is an auto immune it can very , esp when your body is under stres or if you are fighting any other sickness/illness. It also could be Hashimotos.... Antibodies could be present on a tuesday..and attack you thyroid then on the next tuesday there be no sign of them..then 3 weeks later they appear....What is you Dr saying?
Avatar m tn I asked both of my eye doctors about a potential correlation between my eyelid swelling/pressure issues and the underactive thyroid and both seem to indicate there is no link and the only eye pressure issue would result from hyperthyroidism, not hypothyroidism. Is this an accurate assessment from my eye doctors or is it worthwhile to seek an additional opinion? Thank you for your time, this website has proven to be very helpful!
Avatar f tn Hi tmorr, did you have your testosterone levels checked, testosterone primarily controls the hair growth on the legs/underarms, etc. The eyebrows and moustache thyroid hormones. When things were bad for me nothing would grow, used to be a hairy monkey, :) so I knew something wasn't right, but didn't know what was the problem. Since doing the thyroid meds, the eyebrows and moustache (I would have never believed I would miss that) have not returned to growing as of yet....
Avatar f tn I've lost some of my hair, half of my eyebrows, and most of my ability to concentrate. My skin is dry, my butt is big, and my face is a puffy mess. My cholesterol is through the roof (298) and my blood pressure (90/60) is in the basement! I'm cold, I'm cranky, I'm tired. I figured my labs would come back WAY out of range, but no! TSH: 5.03 T4, FREE: .9 (.8-1.
