Avatar m tn Due to the nagging, I have cut out almost every carbs. My weight went down to 125 pounds. My thyroid was 6.9 in last check and blood sugar 100 My creatinine was high normal.. The doctor is calling me prediabetic because people are supposed to have low sugar with hypothyroid. I don't have a family history of diabetes except for an uncle. He had a high sugar diet, and he was sedentary but was normal weight. He was about 50 when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I am a Caucasian.
Avatar f tn Were you fasting 12 hours before or not, that is the difference. A fasting blood sugar between 100 and 125 is considered the 'gray ' area of pre-diabetes. So not diabetes yet. Keep in mind this can change daily. There is a sugar load test usually performed in situations like yours.
Avatar n tn 2 doctor says that is great but have discovered I have a goiter and some symptoms of thyroid difficulties (hair thinning lethargy) and have been struggling with high blood sugar Have lost about 20 lbs my blood sugar on the whole is between 85 and 110 Now I am wondering fi my thyroid was the foundation of this problem If I can't stabiize my thyroid how will I ever stabilize the blood sugar
Avatar m tn I have to go up another notch on the medicine. What really shocked me is my blood sugar was 102, and 109. Why this is shocking is I have no family history(other than an uncle who was sedentary and had poor diet and old) I have never been overweight, have exercised all my life. I rarely eat out. I don't like candy or sugar, I don't drink pop. I don't over consume carbs. I was taking extra fish oil because my skin was itchy.
Avatar n tn Have you heard of insulin resistance? This may be partially to blame for hypoglycemia if it is "rebound", meaning her blood sugars may not sharply exceed the high levels, but if she eats a heavy meal -especially one high in simple carbohydrates- several hours later it "crashes" giving her hypoglycemia. It was explained to me that the insulin triggers becomes overreactive and dump a large amount of insulin in response to the free sugars in her system.
Avatar m tn If you have diabetes or higher than normal blood sugar levels, you should carefully check your blood sugar levels, especially during the first few months of NIASPAN and during any change in your dose. Report any changes in your blood sugar levels to your health care professional. Hypothyroid (high TSH) has a huge effect on cholesterol levels. When your TSH gets back to normal your triglicerides should improve also. You could also ask for an A1C blood test.
Avatar n tn As you know, hypoglycemia is an abnormally low level of blood sugar in your body. Blood sugar is our source of energy and by having too low of a blood sugar can certainly increase the chances of no weight loss and interfering with thyroid activity as well. My experience with thyroid medicines after changing to I don't know how many is that I didn't start to lose weight until I addressed my diabetes question.
1947337 tn?1331423890 ll be thinking of you tomorrow, and most definately mention the low blood sugar to your dr. I would suggest you keep some orange juice also in the frig, but at low 50's is very low. If your feeling funny I had to give my dad a 1/2 spoon of sugar to get it back up quick. I also have learned if you over exercise this could cause your sugar to drop. Let us know about your appt. Wish you the best.
2104507 tn?1333752737 In my relatives they got thyroid even mom few months ago she had surgery and she got removed them all and now she has hypothyroidism, I used to take blood tests many times and my thyroid was most of the times ok or in the borders.. 1 month ago I was feeling stressed out so much and i lost weight so much I was nervous because of my study a lot, suddenly I decided to take another blood test..
988694 tn?1332359479 The pancrease is responsible for processing the sugar and will have a surge of release when the sugar is high - the sugar goes to the blood stream and will process energy or a high and increase the heart rate and blood pressure. If you have unstable levels of thyroid then you have symptoms of stress on the heart naturally. So when the sugar and the unbalanced thyroid hormones meet, it can react the heart to surge too.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you are dealing with a bit. Most people feel best when their TSH is around 1 take or give a little. Don't take your thyroid pills with milk and hold off on any vitamins for and hour at least. (check out the thyroid forum) Your thyroid is probably causing a lot of the issues and yes it can get confusing on what is causing what. BP and body temp is good to keep an eye on too. Finding a good doctor is the best start.
5789562 tn?1374459029 So my latest blood work revealed that I need a dose change and that I'm insulin resistant. I am now taking 200mg of levothyroxine for hypothyroidism and 40mg of atorvastatin for cholesterol and fatty liver. I also take fish oil, multivitamin, D3, allegra, and baby aspirin. My medical provider is focusing on my thyroid before tackling everything else. I should also mention that my mother has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, dementia, diverticulitis, and myopathy.
404389 tn?1217030704 I have had hives for about 3 month. I am diabetic and my blood sugar is a little high. Could too much sugar cause hives. I even have bumps on my scalp. I had allergy test and was not highly allergic to anything but ragweed.
Avatar n tn Being a person(33 yrs, male 86kgs, 179 cms) interested in the medical field and based on the symptoms I observed, I took up TFT (Thyroid Function Test) and T3 , T4 values were normal but TSH was 8.8, I have astha/allergies in mild forms, My platelet count is 55000-75000 (being thrombocytopeanic), My Serum triglycerides are 250, VLDL 70 Fasting Blood Sugar was 230.
Avatar f tn But, I only get these symptoms occasionally after I eat. I thought It would be my blood sugar, but reading about diabetes, It just cant be right. I'm not losing weight. I have had my thyroid checked at its within normal range. I had a random blood glucose test with 3.9mmol/L Where should I start looking? My doctor had no diagnosis, other than eat more frequently. All of this makes losing weight really hard, if not impossible.
Avatar n tn Pls check out your emotional state and coffee or alcohol consumption. Also get your blood sugar, thyroid hormones and liver function tests evaluated. If diagnosed as intention tremors then pls consult a physician.Although they are difficult to treat, but if the condition affecting the cerebellum can be corrected, the tremor may resolve. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn s best to stay away from sugar, sodas, high sugar fruits, products made with refined flour, etc, as they are simple carbs, which enter your blood stream very quickly and tend to make your blood sugar spike in a very short time, then the bottom drops out again, so you have another attack. It ends up being a vicious cycle. Stick with low glycemic foods, that will allow your blood sugar levels to remain stable.
Avatar f tn How do you do with sleep? What happens when you need to get fasting blood work done?
Avatar n tn If I reduce weight by 10 lbs and start excercising will blood sugar levels come down lower. I ate something high is sugar two hrs ago: corn, peas, and meat.
Avatar n tn I have a problem at times with low blood sugar (weak, shaky, nauseated, etc) and I also had symptoms of some high blood sugar. I have been thinking I might have a problem with insulin resistance because of weight that I haven't been able to get rid of. I bought a glucometer and I was right - my blood sugar levels have been bouncing all over the scales with no real rhym or reason. I was sent for a glucose tolerance test last week and now awaiting results.
Avatar n tn You need to get examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension (fall in blood pressure, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD or gastric reflux, and internal ear infections. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar n tn Is it possible that you're hypoglycemic? It you're trembling all the time and eating something helps at times, this could be part of the problem. I would also recommend eating small, frequent meals that are low in carbs (esp. sugar) and high in protein. I also have a sugar intolerance and I have to cut out all refined sugars and carbs and I'm eating a lot more protein and veggies.
