679810 tn?1226460382 It is probably not a good indicator of thyroid anatomy. You will most likely need a parathyroidectomy and at that time the surgeon can visually evaluate that side of the thyroid gland. Could simply be a insignificant anatomical change. If it is a disease process, follow up TSH and other thyroid tests will monitor well and the visual evaluation at the time of surgery will also tell you a great deal.
Avatar m tn The scan showed that my thyroid was a large, asymetric thyroid, predominantly involving the left lobe with a low density lesion at the inferior pole of the left lobe of the thyroid. It is a lower density lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm containing a punctate calcification at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. Is this cancer or a goiter. Should I see a surgeon first or an endocrinologist?
Avatar f tn I am 9 weeks today and I had my first vaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks to confirm. I have thyroid problems and seeing the dr for that on the third, but my prenatal visit is for the 21st.b they also mentioned because of my weight I have top be careful for gestational diabetes..does that make any difference in ultrasound?
Avatar f tn So had my anatomy scan today abd baby head was down and wasnt able to find the gender anyone else went through this?
Avatar f tn I also have pain/spasms in the thyroid area. I have been to an ENT twice and yes my throat is irritated but no signs of cancer. The last thing I want to do is have surgery. ENT thought I might have reflux up in the throat area but my PCP says she does not think so. All my thyroid blood work is normal. She put me on 30 mcg of Armour last week to see if we can calm down this area.
Avatar m tn My doctor put me on alprozolam for my panic disorder because I have been suffering from brain fog. He believes that my brain fog is the cause of the aneixty. I told him to do a thyroid check to rule out the thyriod, the blood tests came back normal. So basically my thyroid is not the cause for my brain fog. I need help I really dont know what else could cause this I wake up every morning feeling the same way i did yesterday.
Avatar f tn For example, Thyroid cancer in the lung is still called Thyroid cancer. Breast cancer in a kidney is still called Breast Cancer, but usually people are told it's Lung cancer or Kidney Failure or what ever. Gets too confusing and makes the doctor look like they have no idea of what bit of anatomy they are diagnosing! The human body is very complex and it is not easy to understand all it does. I hope that helps you feel better knowing!

Avatar f tn Have not heard anything on this. Have you read anything on this? If so would you please post some links here so i can read about it? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Back in August 2009 i had the same problem, went to my GP who basically said not much could be done, however, i was due to have a routine thyroid check ( i have an underactive thyroid) and the test showed that my TSH has risen quite considerably. My medication was increased and the snoring stopped within 2 weeks.....until now!
158939 tn?1274915197 Anyone from a soap opera. I HATE those shows and the people who play the doctors are just the WORST actors known to man. I'm sure for a thyroid issue they'd use that little hammer looking thing and tap on your knee, or look in your ears or something equally sTuPiD.... I have to say though, that hands down, it'd be House. Although it'd be intriguing to see someone like that work (and I do LOVE the show...
299260 tn?1304216105 t have any experience with that yet. I just came back from dr. yesterday for my 20-week anatomy scan. They also check my cervix and mine is closed and looked good. But found out that I have thyroid disease and have to take meds. Try to relax and will be praying for you and your babies.
Avatar n tn My sister have adenocarcinoma papiliferum, it was knew through Patology Anatomy report after she got thyroid biopsy on 19 January (as Colloid Struma with Adenomatous in front) and at 4 February 2008 at Sardjito hospital in Yogyakarta (as Adenocarcinoma Papiliferum). Then she was operated (perhaps the doctor removed a part of thyroid lobus) at 11 February 2008 by surgeon at Yogyakarta. The surgeon plan to remove again in one and half moon after the first operation.
Avatar f tn hyper thyroid. I had an ultrsound which showed nodules -- low thyroid. Still I was kept on 65 mcg dosage... I then travelled to another country and wasn't feeling good. I went for a lab test and the results came back low thyroid which led the doctor to give me a higher dosage of 77mcg. I took this for a while yet still felt symtoms of low thyroid... three months later my lab test on 77mcg showed I was within normal range, although it l was at the lower end of normal.
400667 tn?1203744543 I have been doing allot of reading up on the thyroid. My daughters Dr wants to remove her whole thyroid. When she saw this surgeon he was saying that its very necessary to make sure that she gets plenty of calcium following surgery because its common that once the thyroid is removed that your body does not produce enough calcium. This is where the cofusion comes in, I read about the Parathyroid Gland last night. The following is what I read.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had their anatomy scan yet? I'm 17 weeks now. I went in for a gender scan at 16 weeks and everything looked good. But after googling and seeing a bunch of horrible posts I'm panicking about the anatomy scan and still have 4 weeks left till I get it. I'm getting it done at 21 weeks. I pushed it a week and a half later because my boyfriend wanted to be here. I'm just worried that something will be horribly wrong.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had their 20 week anatomy scan yet? How did it go? I'm 17 weeks now. I just had a gender scan at 16 weeks and everything looked great. Now after googling and reading a bunch of posts I find myself in a complete panic that something will go horribly wrong at the anatomy scan. I'm getting mine done at 21 weeks. A week and a half later than I was suppose to because my boyfriend wanted to be here for it.
Avatar f tn I have the midway anatomy ultrasound tomorrow where they check that everything is okay in there and growing normally and tell you the gender. I was wondering what I should expect and how long the appointment is?
Avatar f tn I posted this question before but no one answered. How did you anatomy scan go? Wefe you nervous for it? I already found out at 16 weeks that I'm having a boy. My friends were all excited for their scan because they hadn't found out the sex yet. But I already know the sex so I just find myself nervous about the scan. Anyone else feel this way? And how did yours turn out?
Avatar f tn So tomorrow I'm getting my anatomy scan ultrasound and the dr. Told me to drink 8 glass of water and not to pee until the ultrasound was done does anyone knows why?
