Avatar f tn I have done the carpel tunnel wrist test positions that my general prac taught me when I was having neuropathy and urgent care tried to say it wa carpel tunnel. Anyways long story short, no pain when I do this position. Only pain when pressure is applied. I did nothing to injury it and I'm right handed so I'm unsure what to think of it. The only thing that is different is that i have been sick with a flu bug that turned into a cold. I don't have a fever anymore just congestion.

Avatar f tn The pain radiates into my elbow area and even seems to be triggered by certain positions. This morning I awoke with pain and clicking in my right thumb. Additionally, there is swelling in the thumb and a soreness into the heel of my hand (where thumb connects to hand). I am taking meds for migraine/stroke (Plavix, verapamil, lasix, lisinopril, along with thyroid replacement therapy and some allergy prescriptions.

My fingers feel like they are being crushed and can get tingly and feel spongy little, ring, middle but can also feel index and thumb. Avatar m tn Hi, What other symptoms are present? Arthritis may present with symptoms such as joint pain, swelling, inflammation, and stiffness. To confirm this diagnosis, imaging studies such as x-ray or blood tests may need to be done. Aside from arthritis, musculoskeletal issues may also need to be ruled out. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn It's been about 10wks, had therapy and there has been no improvement at all in my thumb, still can not get it to bend on it's own. Orthopedic wants to give it 3 more wks and is considering sugery. EMG showed median nerve damage and anterior nerve damage as well. What are your thoughts on having surgery. It's become quite a problem for me to grab large things or grasp a ball too without having that thumb to bend.
Avatar m tn My thumb is not bruised or swollen but I have shooting pain when I bend it. I can bend it all the way but it shoots pain and it hurts in between the two joints. I have tried icing and wrapping it but nothing has helped and it has been nine days. My hand is also very cold but like I said before it is not bruised or swollen.
Avatar n tn Typing injury, or Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI) refers to a wide range of problems, of which Carpal Tunnel is the most well known. Symptoms involve pain in the hands and arms when typing and using the mouse, and generally end up making many daily activities painful or impossible. Burning, numbness, or tingling in your palm, wrist, thumb, or fingers also are the common symptoms encountered by most patients.
Avatar m tn I have recently been dianosed with stage 3 renal failure and am now looking at every ache and pain I have and wondering is this due to CKD? Avatar n tn It has been about 2 weeks now since my wrist started hurting. The pain is on the thumb side of the wrist. It don't think it is a fracture because there is no swelling or discoloration. But it sure hurts a lot. When I wake up it hurts a lot - even for the slightest moment and then the range of motion improves as the day progresses. I am not sure if it is a a ligament tear.
Avatar f tn for about a month now my rights thumb has been very cold all the time it never warms up,, on a part of my thumb where they hand meets it is very painful??? please tell me whats wrong??
Avatar m tn The following comes and goes not more than a few seconds muscle spasms in my feet, calves tingle all the way up to my knee, twitching over my entire body when at rest including eye twitching, real ache in both arms(this has improved since being on Lyrica), both hands tingle and numb some, thumb hurts sometimes when using it and NOT at all other times and the other thumb is beginning to hurt (the thumb issue really is worrying me), slight numbness in my cheek, ear and part of my head will tingle,
Avatar m tn A few weeks later, I noticed I could feel a nerve fairly easy between my thumb and index finger. Here recently I've had a lot of headaches, muscle twitching and aching pain in my left arm/hand. I've noticed that my pinky finger can move but seems to move like I was double jointed or something. I seem to have a stiff neck every now and then but I feel like I've always had that. When I hold a cup or a glass of something in my left hand I shake really bad.

Avatar n tn small bump has arrisen on the area of the wrist where the thumb and wrist attach. painful to use thumb. can move thumb with other hand no pain. skin in this area also sentitive to touch. hard to grasp anything with right hand. Avatar n tn s disease is a painful inflammation of a tendon attached to your thumb. You can have pain when you are moving your thumb away from your hand and you can have difficulty with activities requiring a firm grip and twisting of your hand. This pain typically occurs at the base of your thumb and the radial side (same side as the thumb) of your forearm. If you do not have these symptoms then follow up with an orthopedician for a second opinion and for a proper diagnosis. Take care!
Avatar n tn If so, you may have some carpal tunnel symptoms going on, that typically presents with the thumb, index and middle finger symptoms. At any rate, it would probably be a great idea to go to your primary care physician and get evaluated for this problem. He/she will be able to some DTR's on that extremity to check for nerve related issues. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn I've had both thumb weakness that comes and goes for a few years. It really got bad after pouring a bottle of wine, where my thumb went weak, numb and tingled and i almost dropped the bottle. i've never had pain per se, it's just uncomfortable, just like when your arm goes asleep. i saw an ortho doc who got an emg which showed bilateral carpal tunnel. he even got a cervical spine MRI b/c it seemed to occur in both hands at the same time.
534810 tn?1213327718 I have developed a trigger finger and dequervains tendonitis in bilateral wrist w/thumb pain. Had to go off med for a month and also have sites injected w/cortisone. 1091980 tn?1295541431 Over a year ago I felt a sharp pulling pain in the fleshy part of my thumb The pain and aching in my wrist pasted after a day or so. Many months later I felt this pain again. It usually passed quickly. Seven months later I noticed that I could not support things like a coffee cup and went to the dr. X ray result indicated normal, no obvious arthritis. I began to experience a rapid increase in loss of strength, grip and dexterity.
Avatar f tn All those thing can cause some or all of your symptoms. Your thumb (as you have learned) may be experiencing referred pain - meaning coming from another portion of that extremity. But again you know your body best. We could do all kinds of guessing but only your PCP will have the right answers. Rest the entire area - if ice helps apply it several times a day - heat will only increase the inflammation in the nerves or joint. Please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Hi, bottom part of thumb, cannot bend, no pain, or swelling , I can move the whole thumb, but not the bottom part.. Any idea ??
