Avatar f tn Then that joint quit clicking but the next joint down was somewhat tender to the touch. The joint where the thumb joins to my wrist was unaffected. I also noted this thumb was 25% larger than my left thumb (especially in the section between top and middle joints). I take no medicines. Only recent occurrences: 1. root canal end of Sept after cracking a tooth, followed by a temporary crown being put on the day the click began. 2.
Avatar m tn My right hand middle finger joint (the one between the first and second phalanges seens to dislocate or move out of place when I press it with my thumb. It seens to pop although I can´t hear any sound, unless I´m holding it very close to my ears. It occurs when I press the left side of the joint ( the one closest to my index finger) using my thumb. I don´t know if it is the bone or some kind of ligament or tendon that is actually moving, but I can fell something moves out of place.
Avatar n tn t have any signs of bruising, just some swelling. After a week, I still had pain on my palm side right under the metacarpal joint, on the outside part of my thumb. So my dr took x-rays which were negative and checked my range of motion of my thumb and said it was sprained. He told me to use a thumb spica splint for a week or two. I used the splint for 9 days (it was a thumb/wrist splint which seemed a bit overkill for a thumb sprain).
534810 tn?1213327718 I, too, have joint pain and swelling in hands (and sometimes feet) w/femara. I have developed a trigger finger and dequervains tendonitis in bilateral wrist w/thumb pain. Had to go off med for a month and also have sites injected w/cortisone. Never had any of this before. Oncologist said she had seen trigger finger before no dequervains tendonitis? Wondering if anyone out there has had any of these side effects? And what do you think of this? I am miserable w/all this discomfort.
Avatar f tn Hi Sassy, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum. It must be distractingly painful to have the symptoms you describe in your upper extremities. As of May, 2009, Serrapeptase has exhibited no serious side effects in clinical trials or in public use. A few patients have reported a skin rash, mild headache, stomach discomfort and other minor aches and pains. However, the symptoms were mild in nature and disappeared after a few days.
Avatar f tn A week after the fall I noticed that my left thumb would bend in the middle and I experienced very bad pain. It would get stuck in that position bent. I had to manually put it back. Since I was able to move it all around, I knew it was not broken. I started taking tylenol and massaged it with aspercream. Then I would bandage it with elastic bandage for a few hours a day to relieve the pain which is very bothersome. Now my thumb does not bend I keep massaging it but I cant bend it.
478554 tn?1208034407 The movement problem is only trying to bend finger (now left middle and thumb) inwards. I can feel the joint rotation not smooth, and snap. I have shown my problem to my Kaiser doctor, blood test, X ray. So far, nothing. In my next visit, I will ask him about this trigger finger. Yes, I google and found many reference to trigger finger. Other than pain relief, is there any actual medication can improve this problem? Thank you very much.
Avatar f tn For a few weeks I have been experiencing shooting nerve pain my left thumb. The pain/numbness occurs at the base of the thumb joint where it meets the web part of hand. Rubbing over this area, i can feel the nerve move across the joint. Pushing on the inside of thumb causes tingling/numbness but when I try to grip something I will get sharp shocking pain into thumb. I've been icing it but when I go ti stretch I feel the nerve being stretched in thumb which is painful.
960548 tn?1251288388 The median nerve passes through the carpal tunnel to receive sensations from the thumb, index, and middle fingers of the hand. Any condition that causes swelling or a change in position of the tissue within the carpal tunnel can squeeze and irritate the median nerve. Irritation of the median nerve in this manner causes tingling and numbness of the thumb, index, and the middle fingers, a condition known as "carpal tunnel syndrome.

709686 tn?1277432159 How about joint and muscle pain after eating anything containg sugar? Here is the strange part...last week I actually ate 3 pieces of pizza and felt great the next day. This morning I ate a handful of "Cracklin Oat Bran" and I feel like I'm a 80 year old man. Can someone chime in and let me know what is going on?
Avatar n tn Recently the base of my thumb started hurting in the joint accompanied with some index and middle finger tremor/twitching. Finally it became annoying enough I went to my orthopedic surgeon. The thumb base was very sore. He said I had arthritis in the joint but wasn't sure what was causing the tremor. I have to preface this; a few months prior to this I would wake up and that hand would be completely numb. However, it is not doing this currently.
Avatar f tn The joint at the base of the thumb which allows for the swivel and pivoting motions of the thumb is referred to as the basal joint or thumb CMC (carpometacarpal) joint. Because of its design, it tends to wear out and develop arthritis early in life. Basal joint arthritis is also common in people who have osteoarthritis. It causes pain at the base of the thumb, particularly during pinching or gripping. It also results in weakness of pinch.
Avatar n tn I have been having pain in my right thumb for the last 2 years. The only way I can describe it is a constant soreness. I have been to numerous doctors including neurologists, orthopedists and hand surgeons. Tests done include 2 nerve conductions, nerve block, mri on thumb, wrist and spinal cord, x-ray on hand and a ultrasound. None of them have been able to diagnose what the problem is. Is there anything else that could be causing this pain?
Avatar f tn t work so well for the bone on bone pain in the thumb joint and works so well for the same bone on bone pain in the knee!!! Hope i hear from someone/anyone who's gotten relief in this area.
Avatar n tn I have some pain in my right wrist where my wrist and thumb connect. When I pick up heavy things it hurts, not unbearable but not pleasant. I can pop the third thumb joint every now and then by pulling on the thumb or squeezing the wrist and it feels wonderful to do, usually in the morning when I wake up. The pain stops. I have no weakness at all, just pain. I skateborded as a kid and had my share of falls, I'm twenty six now.
1207048 tn?1282174304 I remembered that incident because this morning I woke up with my thumb joint having some pain, kind of deep inside. I have not done anything to it to cause it to be sore. About an hour ago I noticed that there is a smallish area in the webbing of my thumb and 1st finger that is starting to bruise. Also from the thumb joint almost to my wrist on the palm of my hand is starting to bruise and seems a bit swollen. Have you guys ever had something like this happen?
299912 tn?1341623100 Maybe only about a 2 or 3 on the pain scale for me. It feels more like a soft tissue pain. I noticed that if I press on the joint at the distal part of the metacarpal and the trapezium, I feel the tenderness essentially right in the middle of the "meat" part of my thiumb, close to the metacarpal bone. The prevelance of the pain comes and goes, and generally comes more often when I have done work that uses my hand a lot more.
Avatar m tn Nearly 12 weeks post trigger thumb/carpal tunnel surgery on primary hand, the thumb joint is enlarged and hand still feels tight. Pain in the region of the surgery and thumb when hand is utilized in a normal/usual pattern. Palm has some discoloration and remains tender. What would you recommend? Would an orthopedic physician be of any assistance? Thank you.
Avatar n tn small bump has arrisen on the area of the wrist where the thumb and wrist attach. painful to use thumb. can move thumb with other hand no pain. skin in this area also sentitive to touch. hard to grasp anything with right hand. I wear a small brace on this hand during day hours to be able to do my job.
Avatar f tn A clicking sound in a joint along with pain is a sign of arthritis. It can be rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout or a reactive arthritis to a drug or infection. You will need an X-ray of the joint along with other tests like RA factor and test for gout. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
620877 tn?1282764097 It started in the thumb joints and is now in the first 2 joints of my thumb, index and middle fingers. When I saw my Neuro for my annual exam a couple of weeks ago, she referred me to a Rheumatologist. I am seeing him next Tuesday. In the meantime, my Naturopath has me trying a gluten-free diet to see if might help with MS symptoms and the joint pain (which she thinks might be Rheumatoid Arthritis)....
Avatar n tn t show anything except inflammation around the bottom joint of the thumb (I had developed pain in that joint by then). He did a steroid injection at the base of my thumb a week ago and I am seeing a little improvement. I also have a "nodule" between my thumb and index finger that he thinks may be sesamoiditis. I can't find much information on sesamoiditis in the hand. Would a cyst have shown up on an MRI without contrast? This nodule has not gotten smaller since the injection.
Avatar m tn The doctor said that when I move it, I might feel slightly pain, but when I try to press something with my thumb I feel very sharp pain. I am getting depressed, because I am not pretty sure what I am supposed to do. I will be very pleased if you could tell me!
Avatar f tn For the past 4 weeks, I have a real bad thumb pain, swollen, stiff, can't bend and the knuckle of my thumb and it makes noise when I try to bend it, and it is very painful. I can't use my left thumb anymore. I had a carpal tunnel release surgery 7 years ago on both hands, but my job requires me to do a lot of gardening work, and most of the time I don't wear hand braces/stabilizer. Does my thumb pain come from arthritis? my carpal tunnel syndrome comes back?
