thumb pain laptop

Hello, about 40 minutes ago I was unplugging my laptop and my thumb brushed against the metal springs on the plug as i was pulling it out and i felt a shock go up my hand. I heard the sound and I couldnt move for a good 5 seconds. My hand felt tingly and painful after and I just tried to laugh it off but now I have pain all the way into my shoulder socket and im having difficulties lifting that arm and picking things up.

Hi! I'm not a doctor, but I came across your post & wanted to throw my 2-cents in b/c I have had this same problem with my own smartphone. Do you text a lot (I know I phone has an onscreen keyboard like my droid), but even browsing the internet, if you're using your thumbs or holding your phone a certain way...could cause what they call "gamers thumb". It's more recently been called "texters thumb" since you can get it from that too.

I plkay the piano, and type constantly on my laptop, and I use the thumb for these things. But I guess there is something more specific I could do to try and bring the thumb back to normal. Incidentally it is only the side and tip of the thumb I cannot feel. The other side is ok. Thanks in anticipation of your help.

I am on my work computer and can scroll down on the pc but cn not on my dell laptop at home.The "thumb" reaches the bottom but the page is not fully loaded.I can not get to the bottom of the page.Tried both firefox and IE.I also cant get all the posts here as well.Maybe its someone telling me that I am spendin too much time here.HAHA.

Very helpful thank you, I did go see a doctor and shes 99% sure it's tendonitis and this is just the first time it has ever become inflamed. She has has sent me for X-rays I will be getting tomorrow and she wants me to see a physiotherapist. She wont tell me 100% till she runs more tests but between the ice and heat sand of course the Tylenol the pain is gone but now I'm feeling pain in my left thumb.

I have done the carpel tunnel wrist test positions that my general prac taught me when I was having neuropathy and urgent care tried to say it wa carpel tunnel. Anyways long story short, no pain when I do this position. Only pain when pressure is applied. I did nothing to injury it and I'm right handed so I'm unsure what to think of it. The only thing that is different is that i have been sick with a flu bug that turned into a cold. I don't have a fever anymore just congestion.

My thumb is not bruised or swollen but I have shooting pain when I bend it. I can bend it all the way but it shoots pain and it hurts in between the two joints. I have tried icing and wrapping it but nothing has helped and it has been nine days. My hand is also very cold but like I said before it is not bruised or swollen.

for about a month now my rights thumb has been very cold all the time it never warms up,, on a part of my thumb where they hand meets it is very painful??? please tell me whats wrong??

small bump has arrisen on the area of the wrist where the thumb and wrist attach. painful to use thumb. can move thumb with other hand no pain. skin in this area also sentitive to touch. hard to grasp anything with right hand. I wear a small brace on this hand during day hours to be able to do my job.

I can't hep but comment on this, because I'm so computer illterate. My DH has a thumb drive and he was holding it one day and I asked him what it was. He said. "Thumb drive". I asked. " What do you want to drive that into your thumb"? LOL.....I was just kidding with him, but he thought I was serious. They are really nice and handy to use. At least for him..

I hope it's just tired like me, but it appears my laptop died. I was coming on here to read posts and the screen just went blank. I tried to restart it but it's like it's totally dead. I'll be so bummed out if it's dead. It's my lifeline!!!! I have another desktop (that I'm on now) but the kids use it all the time, and I like having the laptop so I can sit on my bed and watch TV and have a cigarette and be comfortable.

I either hold my arm out straight or hold my arm straight up in the air in order to elevate the pain. Sometimes this works, others times I just lay there until the pain subsides. I sleep on my left side. Now, not only am I getting pain in the left arm, I am now starting to get a tingling sensation in my left arm down to my fingertips, which happens mostly during the day. There are some changes, I have been excercising and walking within the last month.

i have constant pain in my both hands and its started 3yr ago with a small pain rush in my thumb then the skin the thumb start peeling off and for now pain is going on with small rushes in hand pliz help what disease is this?

It's been about 10wks, had therapy and there has been no improvement at all in my thumb, still can not get it to bend on it's own. Orthopedic wants to give it 3 more wks and is considering sugery. EMG showed median nerve damage and anterior nerve damage as well. What are your thoughts on having surgery. It's become quite a problem for me to grab large things or grasp a ball too without having that thumb to bend.

I have been having pain in my right thumb for the last 2 years. The only way I can describe it is a constant soreness. I have been to numerous doctors including neurologists, orthopedists and hand surgeons. Tests done include 2 nerve conductions, nerve block, mri on thumb, wrist and spinal cord, x-ray on hand and a ultrasound. None of them have been able to diagnose what the problem is. Is there anything else that could be causing this pain?

My doctor says the stabbing pain I get in the base of my thumb on the fleshy palm part is probably osteoarthritis, This came on quite suddenly several months ago - I had on occasions put my hand out to stop my elderly husband from tripping over. The joint at the base of the thumb is also quite swollen in a boney sort of way. I mainly get a short sharp stabbing pain on the fleshy part but on resting the hand it does not hurt that much. Could this be a ligament problem?

All of a sudden the piece of skin in between my thumb and finger has become stiff. I don't think it would be trigger finger but i might be wrong. It won't go either. What can I do? It's hard to stretch my thumb away from the hand and spread my fingers without it hurting.

My hand was stuck in my coat pocket and when I fell I landed on it, palm side up. I now have pain on the palm side of my hand near my thumb. I can move my thumb using my other hand, but I can't stretch it out all the way from the rest of my fingers on its own. I don't have alot of swelling or discoloration. I does hurt more when its not elevated, and my hand feels a bit weak. Do I need xrays, or should I just ice it and wait a few days since there is no swelling?

I have some pain in my right wrist where my wrist and thumb connect. When I pick up heavy things it hurts, not unbearable but not pleasant. I can pop the third thumb joint every now and then by pulling on the thumb or squeezing the wrist and it feels wonderful to do, usually in the morning when I wake up. The pain stops. I have no weakness at all, just pain. I skateborded as a kid and had my share of falls, I'm twenty six now.
