t have any signs of bruising, just some swelling.After a week, I still had pain on my palm side right under the metacarpal joint, on the outside part of my thumb. So my dr took x-rays which were negative and checked my range of motion of my thumb and said it was sprained. He told me to use a thumb spica splint for a week or two.
I used the splint for 9 days (it was a thumb/wrist splint which seemed a bit overkill for a thumb sprain).

As of May, 2009, Serrapeptase has exhibited no serious side effects in clinical trials or in public use. A few patients have reported a skin rash, mild headache, stomach discomfort and other minor aches and pains. However, the symptoms were mild in nature and disappeared after a few days.
For a few weeks I have been experiencing shooting nerve pain my left thumb. The pain/numbness occurs at the base of the thumb joint where it meets the web part of hand. Rubbing over this area, i can feel the nerve move across the joint. Pushing on the inside of thumb causes tingling/numbness but when I try to grip something I will get sharp shocking pain into thumb. I've been icing it but when I go ti stretch I feel the nerve being stretched in thumb which is painful.
The joint at the base of the thumb which allows for the swivel and pivoting motions of the thumb is referred to as the basal joint or thumb CMC (carpometacarpal) joint. Because of its design, it tends to wear out and develop arthritis early in life. Basal joint arthritis is also common in people who have osteoarthritis.
It causes pain at the base of the thumb, particularly during pinching or gripping. It also results in weakness of pinch.
Sounds like you injured your thumb joint at some earlier point, and it's become arthritic. Massage and regular flexing may provide some relief of that condition.
If the pain's bothersome, heat may help and there are over the counter anti-inflammatory salves you could try (anti-inflammatories are not good for our bodies in the long term and some people cannot tolerate them well anyway).
I can pop the third thumb joint every now and then by pulling on the thumb or squeezing the wrist and it feels wonderful to do, usually in the morning when I wake up. The pain stops. I have no weakness at all, just pain. I skateborded as a kid and had my share of falls, I'm twenty six now. I used to pop that third joint by pulling on my thumb as a kid, usually after falls. This just started up again recently. Any ideas and possible things to do like a brace?
t show anything except inflammation around the bottom joint of the thumb (I had developed pain in that joint by then). He did a steroid injection at the base of my thumb a week ago and I am seeing a little improvement. I also have a "nodule" between my thumb and index finger that he thinks may be sesamoiditis. I can't find much information on sesamoiditis in the hand. Would a cyst have shown up on an MRI without contrast? This nodule has not gotten smaller since the injection.
MY thumb hurts in the left hand and every time i touch a metal it kind of sends a shooting pain in my thumb but my thumb has to be directly touching it. My right him hurts and so does the back. My face gets real itchy during nght time. but lasts like 10-20 minutes.
My question is can antibiotic cause this muuch pain even after 6 weeks of being done with them and can they cause arthiritis?
Then that joint quit clicking but the next joint down was somewhat tender to the touch. The joint where the thumb joins to my wrist was unaffected.
I also noted this thumb was 25% larger than my left thumb (especially in the section between top and middle joints).

small bump has arrisen on the area of the wrist where the thumb and wrist attach. painful to use thumb. can move thumb with other hand no pain. skin in this area also sentitive to touch. hard to grasp anything with right hand. I wear a small brace on this hand during day hours to be able to do my job.
I have been having pain in my right thumb for the last 2 years. The only way I can describe it is a constant soreness. I have been to numerous doctors including neurologists, orthopedists and hand surgeons. Tests done include 2 nerve conductions, nerve block, mri on thumb, wrist and spinal cord, x-ray on hand and a ultrasound. None of them have been able to diagnose what the problem is. Is there anything else that could be causing this pain?
A clicking sound in a joint along with pain is a sign of arthritis. It can be rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout or a reactive arthritis to a drug or infection.
You will need an X-ray of the joint along with other tests like RA factor and test for gout. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Is there anyone that can fabricate an artificial joint for my thumb?(at the base of the thumb) I had an accident with my saw and totally destroyed the joint and was told my only option is to fuse it. I am a carpenter and need the full use of my thumb! As for now, I was told Ill only be able to bend the top joint and the bottom joint after everything has healed. I appreciate any help with this matter!!!
About a week later I experienced quite a bit of pain in my left thumb, it would bend on the half joint where the nail is and hurt like hell. I had to snap it back to place. It seemed like trigger finger, but I do not have artheritis. I could move it all around, it was not swollen or broken. My Dr. looked at it and said it will be OK just give it time because I might of damaged the ligament.
My doctor says the stabbing pain I get in the base of my thumb on the fleshy palm part is probably osteoarthritis, This came on quite suddenly several months ago - I had on occasions put my hand out to stop my elderly husband from tripping over. The joint at the base of the thumb is also quite swollen in a boney sort of way. I mainly get a short sharp stabbing pain on the fleshy part but on resting the hand it does not hurt that much. Could this be a ligament problem?
I fell and sprained my thumb. The thumb swelled up and IP joint was painful for 3 weeks, it is 6 weeks now and pain is much much better but the swelling hasn't gone down. What concerns s me most is the IP joint (on the nail side) is swollen and hard like bone! The rest of the thumb is swollen but soft.
t grasp, twist or flex my thumb or lean on my hand to get out of a chair, etc. without a lot of pain. Pressure to the area is sometimes so painful~however, goes away once hand is at rest. Last week I had an MRI done which shows subluxation of radial basal joint. I go back to the doc next Tuesday and am still attending PT sessions 2 times a week. I want to go back to work!! but it still hurts and my strength is minimal. Again, its my dominant hand.
My question is ...
I did have any symptoms instantly but since january, i have pain in the basal joint of my left thumb and slight pain in the basal joint of my right thumb. I tried searching on internet but no other STD has this symptom. The only other STD that sometimes present with this symptom is HIV.
I am freaking out.
Since last week, occasionally i get upset stomach.
I am really worried and scared to get tested. I think i have HIV. Please help.
