I was looking up Sinusitis and Its supposed to have nasal inflammation and I do not have that, but I cough up mucus every day always after I eat.
I was advised to gargle coconut oil like a mouth wash. its called oil pulling and helps with many things including build up of phlegm/mucus. hopefully this works. you can use vegitable oil as well but coconut is much healthier. and probobly tastes better.

For about a year now, it feels like I have phlegm/mucus stuck in my throat and can't completely clear my throat. Also when I cough, its a lil wet and there is phlegm. When I started to have the problem, I went to the doc and he said it just may be sinuses and sent me on my way... but never went away. I went to the doc while I was in Basic Training in SC... then went to GA for 4 months... back to FL for a few months (where i use to live) and now I am in NC....
I've been suffering for about a week but several months ago it was for almost an entire month Wake up inthe morning coughing up yellow / green mucus and then it goes clear but it's constant and so sticky - it won't even easily wash off the sides of the basin. Last time I used to wake up inthe middle of the night choking - really horrid problem and the lack f sleep only makes things worse.
I have been coughing and throwing up phlegm for months now. I take antibiotics and for about a week after I introduce a new antibiotic I don't cough but then slowly I begin coughing again even though I'm still taking the antibiotic. I've taken 3 kinds of antibiotics but nothing keeps the cough away for more than a week. I've beem to a Pulminlogicist, Eye, Ear and Throat doctor but no relief. I vomit for long periods and the vomiting makes me so weak I can hardly stand up.
I feel like my gag reflex has become super sensitive since all this has happened and I often gag on the mucus(sometimes to the point of throwing up) Constant cough and throat clearing. Have been told I sound like an old smoker although I am only 25 and have not smoked a cigarette in my life. I feel like this is beginning to give me great anxiety as sometimes I feel like my airway is being blocked off since there is so much **** down there.
Mucus buildup remedy - TRY IT!!! (: When you have mucus/phlegm in the throat due to post nasal drip, get some Silver Biotics (it is the only colloidal silver that really works for me) and make a nasal pray with this solution. Don't add anything, just spray your nose 3 times daily, 2 spray in each nostril. It will fix the post nasal drip and allow the mucus to get out your nose.
My surgeon insisted it was due to trama from the breathing tube and not from the surgical site. However if you are throwing up blood versus coughing it up, an ER visit or call to your doctor would be warranted.
I've been told that it was probably allergies but it's funny, I've had allergies for over 10 years and never once had this probem of producing way to much phlegm. I produce so much that I will end up throwing up to get rid of some of it at least once a week but I cough alot and feel very nausous with it. I find it really funny that whenever I'm on any anti-biotic it stops until I finish my medication and then it starts up again.
I have now started dry heaving/throwing up almost right when I wake up just with all the mucus in my system I guess. Could this really be from allergies? I went to a dr on Monday and Wednesday, both different and both say it is just allergies. The mucus is clear. I am miserable and have been trying allergy medicine but that doesn't seem to stop the morning misery. This is the first year I have ever been like this and I have lived here my whole life.
Man in been super congested for the last couple weeks but this week is the worst my voice will even go. The mucus is so nasty all yellow to a gross green and brushing my teeth involves throwing up ever morning till its all bile. I wake up at 4 am to get SO stuff ready for work and at that time my sinuses are si stuffed up It feels like I'm suffocating from all the phlegm. I just used color septic spray cause Dr advised no to sudafed.
I went dancing and by the end of the evening I was hacking up a lung! Now, I have yellow-ish, light brown (or dark beige) phlegm coming up in (what I can only describe as) clumps. The cough is so terrible, I cringe every time that I do feel the tickle in the center of my just hurts so bad. The cough is so violent that I have vomitted twice, Sun and today.

My son was in the mountains at the end of July & developed a dry cough for a week. After that it became a wet productive cough. The cough almost always continues to the point of gaggging & either coughing up mucus or throwing up. He never had any other symptoms- no fever, no aches, his lungs are clear & the mucus is clear. After 2 more weeks of this type of coughing we went to the Dr.
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
Again most doctors don't get this because they are not that great at metabolic endocrinology, most of the research is recent, and because acid reflux does irritate the throat, they do not look for a common metabolic cause, they just treat the acid reflux and get stumped when that doesn't clear up the mucus. They also know Dairy thickens mucus so they will blame dairy. Trouble shooters parroting textbooks that don't understand the root cause yet.
00 am. Last night I was throwing up and having a really hard time breathing between periods of coughing and vomiting. My airway was definetly tight, but it was more like I couldn't take a breath, like the muscles in my airway wouldn't work or forgot how or something. Weird! I don't have a whooping sound, however for the first time last night I did have a strange sound coming from the airway when I finally could take a breath.
I almost coughed up my gut. I mean to the point of throwing up! My condition got a little better, but I think only because it's starting to slowly, but super slowly, wear-off. But then again, who knows. I've been tricked before. It would seem like I'm getting better, then it starts up all over again. I also had pains, though on the left side of my diaphram. The x-ray didn't show anything. The doc says it's from the cough, that I pulled the muscles in the rib. I'm sick of this coughing.
So these past 3 days , my throat's been hurting soooo bad! It happened out of no where when I was laying down. Then my head started hurting reallyyyy bad. The next day I got up, I felt really weak, didn't want to get ready for school, but still went anyways. I felt like I had a fever , so I literally slept ALL day in school. The next day didn't go to school cause of it & my throat was worse. It hurts when I swallow. I have gotten these pains, but not as bad as this time!
The hack is all but gone, the gagging and throw up still there, so he adds a throw-up pill. The throw-up is sour, even if it's just flem.I am trying to think of everything, no changes in the home, food,Oh he keeps licking his lips, trying to get moisture!,,He's drinking like always. * tongue turned yellowish black (I assume antibiotics did that) * uvula was swollen, so it was hard to swallow * I was swallowing constantly * left nostril started dripping with bitter salty mucus * neck got swollen * throat and nose insides felt as if they were cut by knife Went to ENT again for endoscopy, he found nothing. Sinuses clear, the mucus was clear. I have gone to an infection specialist who found increased titres for HHV-6 antibodies and EBV.
I can understand why cause he always seems so healthy - unless you see him throwing up. So at the urge of my family (who'd seen him throw up) and father (cardiologist), I switched doctors. In December his height was also off the chart. The pediatrician thought the vomitting must be keeping him from absorbing adequate nutrition and was now stunting his growth. So she sent us to Pediatritic GI who took it all quite seriously and sent us for cf test (negative), upper g.i.(normal), blood work (?
However, I am still dealing with this terrible hacking up phlegm ALLLLLL DAY! It is so bad that I wake up because I'm drowning in my own mucus! When I came across this form about constant throat clearing accompanied by a terrible persistent cough, I saw the stuff about post nasal drip. I had never really noticed that I do have a constant drip. I think this is because my coughing scares me so much and the drowning in my mucus feeling that I instantly blamed it on my smoking.
I have this problem with gagging, what seems to be caused by post nasal drip. When i wake up i tend to have a dry mucus build up in the post nasal area of my throat. The thing is when i gagg, trying to free the mucus from my throat, nothing seems to loosen up, which makes me have this feeling of vomiting. These symptoms are 10 fold when i am in any social situation, or have to tend to any type of stressfull situation.
I have been coughing non stop to the point of throwing up for 3 months now. This all started after a bout with bronchitis. I am miserable and cannot work as I must spit every minute or two. I also have post nasal drip and after being diagnosed with GERD I feel like it is LPR. I have no reflux in my throat and when I lie down I actually feel better. Should I see an EMT? The doctor I am now seeing has put me on 40 mg of Protonix twice a day.
I am in my 50's, have suffered with this terrible sudden itch in throat attack--followed by terrible coughing that only stops the itch when some kind of fluid comes up from my lungs--not really phlegm, more watery--since 1992. That was when I became an active speaking minister. It feels like a flea suddenly bites one (or the other) side of my throat or maybe vocal cords or sometimes I think it feels like a big hive in my throat because it feels like a lump comes up.
I wake up no dry heaving for the 1st hour and then like a whirlwind from no where, I start hacking, yaking, throwing up phlegm etc...I have had asthma since I was born so I thought that could be a factor but the fact my asthmatic lungs have improved over time and since a lot of you have the same problem without the asthma I guess I can throw that conclusion out the window.
Does anyone else have this same problem when waking up in the morning? I have little coughing but when I do cough, I usually bring up some mucus (yellow in color). Throat clearing is throughout the day, but not constant. I have been to family physician, ENT, and been seen by several physicians at our local Med Center. They always say allergies or anxiety. However, no one has ever done a throat culture - which I find odd because if my throat is red and looks inflamed, why wouldn't they?
