Common Questions and Answers about Throwing up mucus cough

throwing-up

I cough and throw up mucous probably 10 times a day. I receive 3 allegry shots a week and am allergic to about 100 things, mold and dust being foremost. I have advanced filter on my natural gas hot air furnance, as well as a ultra violet attachment. In addition I use separate air filtering machines....ionic breeze, allen, etc. I am treated separately by ENT specialists and have had every medicine known to man or woman. Right now I have added claritin to zyrec.
Well, that was three months ago and thank goodness for that $55 inhaler, bc I swear sometimes I feel like I'm about to die just going up the stairs or in the middle of the night after a cough attack. I've also been losing quite a lot of weight, bc I'm afraid to eat anything (the coughing and throwing up that ensues after I'm done eating is very weakening.
I feel like my gag reflex has become super sensitive since all this has happened and I often gag on the mucus(sometimes to the point of throwing up) Constant cough and throat clearing. Have been told I sound like an old smoker although I am only 25 and have not smoked a cigarette in my life. I feel like this is beginning to give me great anxiety as sometimes I feel like my airway is being blocked off since there is so much **** down there.
I've had it my whole pregnancy. If I cough to hard it nearly gags me into throwing up. Horrible horrible horrible!
Its like Its stuck in my throat and I try to cough it out but I end up throwing everything up including my food. Very Not pleasant. But it wasn't as bad as it is now. Now Its happening twice every other week, to every week. The last time I was on medication for Sinusitis that my doctor gave me, and I threw up more mucus then food. I was looking up Sinusitis and Its supposed to have nasal inflammation and I do not have that, but I cough up mucus every day always after I eat.
Either way, I've been feeling better for the last 2 weeks but my cough still persists. At first it was a terrible wet cough that sounded awful. I would cough up a lot of phlem. I was fine with that, I simply assumed it was good for me. But for the last 3 weeks I've been throwing up constantly. The cough is getting better. I just have severe coughing fits where I feel like I cannot breathe and my body just shakes and tenses up uncontrollably. Then I throw up large amounts of food.
I have trouble with violently throwing up and I cough during it. Last night I woke up choking as usual for me and started throwing up then I could not stop and saw bloody mucus. Then today I did the same thing. I feel raw inside and it burns in my chest as I inhaled something from choking I think. Has anyone had reflux and spasms this bad during pregnancy? I have been doing better with nausea lately. Is this bad?
just a little bit of a dry cough. And whenever something did come up, the mucus was clear so I wasn't concerned. I just figured the remaining gunk was clearing itselft out of my system. Eventually it stopped......that is until last Sat (4days later) when I began to cough again. I went dancing and by the end of the evening I was hacking up a lung! Now, I have yellow-ish, light brown (or dark beige) phlegm coming up in (what I can only describe as) clumps.
00 am. Last night I was throwing up and having a really hard time breathing between periods of coughing and vomiting. My airway was definetly tight, but it was more like I couldn't take a breath, like the muscles in my airway wouldn't work or forgot how or something. Weird! I don't have a whooping sound, however for the first time last night I did have a strange sound coming from the airway when I finally could take a breath.
He gives her an antibiotic shot (I don't know the name), because she has severe diarrhea and is throwing up. He also tells me to resume giving her the Augmentin when she is better. Once that round of antibiotic was done, I though things were great, her runny nose and cough were gone! Over a week goes by and she goes in for a follow up appointment. Her doctor looks and says they her ears are very bad and she needs tubes.

I feel like I get so much mucus in me at times that I gag on it and sometimes end up throwing up to get my throat cleared out. I also have a cough and constant throat clearing and very dried out sinuses. I agree with "allergy" to start searching for the cause. SOMETHING is causing it. And you can't always count on your doctor to figure it out. I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what it could be. I don't know if it is something I am eating or breathing in.
My surgeon insisted it was due to trama from the breathing tube and not from the surgical site. However if you are throwing up blood versus coughing it up, an ER visit or call to your doctor would be warranted.
no change in behavior (happy, active, etc.) and no change in attitude. She has, however, started throwing up mucus. It has happened about the last 3 days once or twice in a day. There seems to be nothing other than a piece of grass or tiny speck of food in the mucus. Can you tell me what may be causing this, if it is only temporary, and what I may be able to do to help or stop it??
Then ask for Spiriva to see if this helps the cough and mucus production. All is not lost, give up now and you will see an improvment, it may take two years! Eros.
I had that barking cough too. I finally worked up enough courage to go to the doctor. I found out that all of my excess mucus was about disease of the airways. I was given MEDROL 4 Mg. Dosepak and told that THIS Is the ONLY, ONLY, ONLY, thing that can cure it. Prior to going to the doctor, I tried to diagnose MYSELF. I used various antibiotics to try and cure this ailment but NOTHING was successful. Nevertheless, I'd taken MEDROL before YEARS AGO and it worked WELL.
I went to the doctor and found out I had strep throat, both of my ears were full of fluid and had infection, my lungs sounded clear but my broncial tubes must be in bad shape because I cough and cough and cough and all this nasty mucus comes up. Dr. perscribed amoxicillon twice a day for 7 days and a steroid once a day for 7 days. He wrote me a prescription for cough syrup. Each day my throat got a little better but my cough and mucus has gotten worse.
I have had excessive mucus in the back of my throat for a while now and it is really getting annoying. It's not in my lungs or in my chest, it is just in my throat. I have to cough it up (more like a hocking sound) all the time and it is disgusting and ANNOYING. I have never had allergies in my life and never any big disease problems at all. This thing is just annoying and I am wondering what in the world could be causing it. The mucus is clear with no blood or anything--just clear.

It is also possible that this mucus is making him sick to his stomach. He may be throwing up this mucus and swallowing it. As long as he is not on a fluid restriction he should be drinking 6 to 8 8-ounce glasses of non-caffeine non-alcoholic fluid daily. This will thin the mucus so that it moves more easily. A nasal wash helps remove mucus from the nose and sinuses. This can temporarily reduce the postnasal drip and lessen the coughing.
It comes in the same spot in my throat every time and I have it day and night. I cough up loads of thick clear mucus and it seems to be sitting at the back of my throat. I use dozens of tissues and sometimes feel like I am choking. Help! Has anybody got a cure??
But I still have this stupid cough. I also spit up gunk in the morning and my ears hurt. My husband has been spitting up brown sometimes in the morning, it's pretty gross.. He refuses to go to the dr. now because they don't help. Anyone have any advice or answers. We are even thinking about moving out of the country to have access to better healthcare. IDK anymore.
Often when this happens it feels like I have to clear my throat and it is very difficult to get it clear, and occasionally when I cleared it is a lump of mucus. Sometimes I got a bit worried because the mucus was grayish, but I looked it up online and found out that this is fairly common with smoking. I never smoked ciggarettes, but I have been an on and off pot smoker over the years. I read that this is normal and shows that your lungs are actually working so it is not a bad thing.
I had the same thing. I got it after an influenze bout a few years ago. After doctor's pills, allergy pills and several different types of inhalers that did nothing to improve the situation I was about ready to give up and in a despairing revalation realized I would have to live with this for the rest of my life. I did one last search on the internet and came across a posting that has starting to help me. My mucus is becoming "runnier" each day and my sinuses are clearing up.
Then I started coughing which would last more or less then 10 mins up to the point where I would actually feel like throwing up and my ribs would hurt. I went back to the doctor and told him all this and he told me that there isn't anything to do because I have him stumped. He doesn't know why I'm coughing so much and why none of these medications are helping it. I was testing to see if it was my asthma, but taking my inhaler does't help it.
I have recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and I too have a reoccuring tickle in my throat that leads to unbelievable coughing that in most times leads to an amazing amount of spit and white mucus that I'm throwing up....while at work it's the worst, especially since I'm several yards from the restroom. When I feel the tickle, I run because I know what's about to go down. I would suggest seeing an Endocrinologist.
