Throwing up after puppy vaccinations

Common Questions and Answers about Throwing up after puppy vaccinations

throwing-up

Avatar n tn Is she ok now? Or still sick? A pup who throws up more than once or twice needs to go to the vet because there is the danger of dehydration. Puppies are more susceptible. I would be inclined to take her to the vet anyway, because throwing up bile is not a sign that the puppy is hungry, it's a sign that something is amiss. It could be anything. An upset stomach, an infection, a foreign body...etc Did you, or the people you got your puppy from make sure she had her vaccinations?
Avatar m tn My dog is 12 yrs old Australian Shellie cocker spaniel mix she is throwing up a lot of green bile and her back legs are not as strong she can't walk up the stairs without help she is not eating but will drink
Avatar f tn re a regular customer or have been there before veterinarians are usually pretty good with that. If he is throwing up it is not advisable for him to be eating while he is still throwing up if it is continued however or prolonged the best food would be boiled chicken. You should definately be keeping his fluids up, but I would seriously consider ringing around Veterinary clinics and checking if any have a payment system where you can pay it off near You.
Avatar m tn You should not take a puppy out for at least 2 weeks after the last set of vaccinations have been given. The vet should have given you a card detailing the vaccinations administered and when they were given. If you haven't got this, ask for one, as it is an important record (particularly if you later want to place your dog in boarding kennels, as they should ask you to prove your dog has received all its vacciantions).
Avatar m tn I have had several dogs over the years and have always given them their appropriate puppy vaccines. I am now at a new vet due to a move and a new puppy and they are saying that the puppy shots are now a series of 4 shots instead of the regular 3 that I remember. When I have questioned the staff (vet tech not the vet) I don't get a straight answer about 4 shots instead of 3. I was also told not to have the puppy around other dogs until he has had all 4 shots which will put him at 18 weeks.
Avatar n tn The day before yesterday my puppy (Bandi) was throwing up and had diarrhea (as my grandma told me, we live at her house). I was at school and my mother was working, and I got home first since my uncle picked us up.
Avatar m tn I understand that in many parts of the world dog owners can buy vaccinations online and have them shipped with needles and syringes ... which frankly, I find slightly alarming. Not knowing which vaccinations have been given and which have been missed, is just one of my many concerns of DIY veterinary procedures.

Avatar f tn I just adopted a young bloodhound puppy last Tuesday, the woman had told me she was born December 25, 2011 (Christmas) now keep in mind we also adopted another female that was born December 19, 2011 and they are no where near the same size, the older one(Birdy)is pushing 35+lbs, has all her vaccinations current, the younger female (Ginger) is barely 11lbs...
Avatar n tn Has your puppy had its vaccinations? Have you taken your puppy out for a walk (without it having its vaccinations) or brought it into contact with other dogs? The latter is very dangerous until the vaccination period is complete, as they can contract parvovirus, which is often fatal. Your puppy must be checked by a vet.
3186206 tn?1344746964 Hello....Karla is right, if the puppy is throwing up a lot it can cause dehydration and you don't want to mess around with that. You definitely want to see a vet as soon as you can, it can be something minor like a change in diet/food or something serious. Keep the puppy hydrated and watch what he eats, personally i'd start him on a bland diet as a precaution....good luck!!!
82861 tn?1333453911 For the second time in as many weeks, yesterday brought us a very sick raccoon. We live in far west suburban Houston, but right on the edge of a large reservoir. Wild critters of all kinds are commonly seen here, but most are nocturnal. My husband was forced to shoot the first one after the dogs announced it's presence late on a Sunday afternoon. We spoke to a wildlife rehabber who said distemper is running rampant throughout the coon population in East and Southeast Texas this Spring.
1934797 tn?1323615028 Finally, once your puppy has had its vaccinations and (hopefully) is checked by the vet to be in good health, sign-up for a local puppy training class. This will help you train your new puppy properly and help to socialise your puppy with other dogs, both of which are essential at an early age.
Avatar n tn i don't have the money right now and my puppy is 2 weeks over due for his first shots. whats the longest i can wait?
Avatar n tn The vet can examine the pup and give appropriate vaccinations. You can also bring up his behavior. If this is healthy, it is probably just being an active puppy. It could have fleas, and that you make a puppy upset, but this could be addresssed with the vet. Also, read about the dogs breed, you can learn about specific behaviors and traits that you might not have been aware of.
1096512 tn?1384889778 Usually the parvo vaccination is given in a combo-type vaccine with distemper, adenovirus (canine hepatitis), and parainfluenza. Sometimes other vaccines are included in the combo. So, your puppy may have been given other vaccinations already, in addition to parvo. You need to find out. When you were at the vet's office, you should have been given a vaccination schedule for your puppy, with instructions on when to come back. I would find it very curious if you were not given that.
Avatar m tn Has your puppy had his/her vaccinations? If not, have you taken him/her outside where he/she has come into contact with other dogs and/or their faeces?
Avatar f tn A 13 week old puppy who is vomiting and off his feed needs to be seen by his vet ASAP. Is he up to date on his vaccinations? Vomiting and going off their feed is one of the first symptoms of distemper or parvo. What was the puppy seen by the vet for on January 2? I'm guessing you meant that it was January 2, 2012 and not 2011 since he's only 13 weeks old? Just need to clarify that.
Avatar f tn when he throws up is it in morning/evening before he eats after he eats ? my fur baby throws up in mornings sometimes it like yellow acid reflux, after shes been asleep all night, thats very common, so i try and give her something before bed to coat her tummy like yogurt/cottage cheese. if hes doing it all day and a lot yes plz take to his vet.
Avatar f tn You don't necessarily need a holistic vet. You just need one that is familiar with the modern vaccination protocols. My vet is very traditionally trained, but he takes continuing education, and he uses good sense, and he doesn't see the need to give vaccinations that don't work. At the very least, you need a vet that respects what you decide as the owner. Only the rabies vaccination is legally required. I give that, plus parvo, distemper, and canine adenovirus.
Avatar f tn we have had our puppy for two weeks and he had his first injections last Tuesday. He is a very sociable dog and full of energy. Today my daughter slept in a bit longer than usual. the puppy will not eat or drink and just follows her around and sit by her, no jumping up or wanting to do anything.
