By Sat I was unable to hold a pop can without trouble and opening doors was very painful so I went to the ER and from the blood tests they did they found my strep level was at 200. I followed up with my Dr on Monday and I was put on Penicilin for 20 days and 800 Ibuprofen twice daliy. I am now on 800 Ibuprofen and 50mg of Minocycline twice daily for a undetermined amount of time.
I had severe pain for the first 3 weeks and the last two have been getting better.
It could be allergies. While my throat never closed up, swelling in the throat is sometimes a symptom of an allergic reaction. Mine was nuts, but it could be seafood or something. I'd take it to a doctor, especially because you couldn't breathe - that's a major problem of something being wrong. If s/he thinks it's an allergy, then s/he should refer you to an allergist for testing. If it is an allergy, then you need an Epi pen or meds.
In order to be accurate, I do want to correct my above post. I've had a chance to check and in fact it is not uncommon for two year olds to have strep throat. Google two year old with strep throat and much data pops up that it happens and not uncommonly. Since it is contagious, you often see it in daycare facilities.
I mentioned it initially only because my boys had some very odd symptoms when they've had strep throat and it didn't look like obvious strep throat.
So I know it's normal to throw up little bits of bloodif you're dehydrated and really straining to vomit..but this morning as usual I got up to get sick and there was like blood mixed in with my bile, not just strings like I get once in a while ...is this normal ? It really didn't feel normal, I don't feel any different or anything but I don't want to call my Dr if it's nothing to be concerned with, any advice?
Firstly, has he been cultured for strep throat and/or had a rapid strep test done? Secondly, steroids are good for getting inflammation down but they cause you get very immunocompromised. Are these oral steroids and were they actually perscribed by a doctor. I would stop the steroids. He could also have a resistant strain of Strep. so they may need to do a antibiotic sensitivity panel if the culutre is still positive. Lastly, it may virus that he got after the initial infection.
Are you able to hold fluids down? Try drinking some chicken or beef broth so you can get some nutrients and take a couple tylenol to help with the sore throat. Make sure you keep drinking water even if you throw it up because you don't want to add dehydration into the mix. If you still feel crappy in the morning go get checked but if you start feeling even.worse it might be a good idea to go to an urgent care clinic or the er. Hope you feel better soon!
As far as the concerns go regarding strep throat....Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. Strep can be passed through water. Ever since we have been on bottled water we have been in the clear.

My kids almost always get stomach aches with strep infections (that is when they culture your throat with the swab).
Many viruses will also cause stomach issues such as nausea. On top of that, when you have a virus, you often aren't hungry and then blood sugar drops, the stomach gets irritated, etc. and it can also cause stomach issues. Coughing until one gags is common and once you gag, then throwing up is much easier.
Yes I'm only 6 weeks but I have the same problem.
Seen my doctor and he put me on Amoxicillin. My strep cleared up for the most part (the white crap all over my throat). Throat is still sore and have ulcers in a few places around my mouth. Not to worried about that, what does worry me is now my gums are killing me. I cannot even tough them with a brush. No blood as of yet from them. Is this the last of the infection retreating?
ve scratched my throat or something when I was trying to puke because the next time I tried to throw up a lot of blood came out. It wasn't thin at all. It was very thick and chunky. I kept drinking water and throwing up the blood but it feels like there's something stuck in my throat. It hurts my throat to even swallow food. Which turned into a cold in which I thought I had developed strep throat. I tested negative for strep and eventually got over the illness. I am wondering if this time it is similar. About an hour afterwards I could feel my throat feeling sore. I woke up with a sore throat, which has increased to congestion. I have been coughing up mucus that is yellow and the other day with specks of blood (most likely from dry nose or irritated throat).
