throat

Avatar f tn After the 6th month, he scoped me and there, my paralysed vocal cord was working. Here I am, my voice is not perfect though but improving. So, you just hang in on there and i know all this will take time. Be patient. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I have now severe problems with breathing and my vocal chords are so inflammed I have difficulty even walking upstairs. Two specialists have suggested that due to the surgery ( 6 hours) my vocal chords may be paralised but it is too early to tell at the moment. If I stop breathing due to the closing of the chords I can be in serious trouble.. Has anybody been there and come through this??? Very worried, and scared at times.
Avatar m tn hello, im having a little trouble yelling or singing loudly. before, i used to yell and sing loudly for as long as i could without any problems, but now when i try to do that it feels like my throat gets fatigued or i have a bit of disconfort. speaking in a normal volume i have no problem with. All this began when i tried to lift a really heavy object and as i heaved i flexed my neck muscles with too much force. thats when i felt the change.
Avatar m tn You may have damage to the vocal chords by over use, or by straining the vocal chords. If you do sing, then do make sure you do vocal warm ups. The voice box needs to be looked after like any other part of your body. Make sure that you do not shout or strain your voice. Drink plenty of fluids - have a bottle of water with you all the time and take sips frequently. You can also get lozenges to help soothe any irritation.
Avatar n tn Just a little dryness in the vocal chords that made me cough a fair bit. Often steam can help relieve the chords. Good luck!
Avatar n tn ENT showed no problems with my vocal chords or throat, but I am still coughing, so as my voice is weak I have been referred to to speech therapy. As I have asthma, I wonder if your idea of cough variant might be the answer. Thanks again.
Avatar n tn s suppose to take a week to receive those results. He saw that my vocal chords are swollen which has caused what I thought was laryngitis but it had gone on far too long for that. He referred me to an ENT for the vocal chords. My problems actually started with a bout of strep throat. After a couple rounds of antibiotics, I developed oral thrush. Then it was pneumonia. I've had almost 4mo of pure H!!! I hope an expert will hop on here and help you out.
Avatar m tn Have problems breathing and at night difficulty sleeping. Anybody been here and how long till chords and voice get better??????
Avatar n tn I did not have any pain, but I coughed a lot after eating and did have a lot of phlegm. So now I am on prilosec, and it does help. They scoped my throat and my vocal chords look great, but I did have a little irritation due to the phlegm. At least now we are on the right track! I suggest you see an ENT, there are tests for GERD, but depending on the size of the nodule, that may be your problem...only 5-15% of nodules are cancerous, mine were not, but the thyroid tissue was.
Avatar f tn There can be many causes. Some of them are: result of infection, polyps on your vocal chords, Spasmodic Dysphonia (google: Spasmodic Dysphonia Scott Adams, to get best info), or you could be straining your voice by using it wrong, like I did, then consult Dr. Morton Cooper, whose book is called Change YOur Voice, Change Your Life.
Avatar f tn I have mild low thyroid, and have been on Armour Thyroid for about 5 years. I'm a professional singer--and recently started having serious vocal problems; I've lost 2 full notes of my upper chest voice, and it actually hurts some to sing for long... I have no health insurance. Here's my question. Thinking maybe I had vocal cord nodules I saw an ENT who only told me I had some mild edema.
Avatar f tn One is to find a good speech therapist, two is to try to speak in a normal tone of voice, not yelling or whispering (both are bad on vocal chords), and three is watch your diet. Any heartburn is burning the vocal chords too, so be careful :) We want more singers out there!
681148 tn?1437661591 t know if it has anything to do with Fibromyalgia or not, but it is a type of muscle spasm. I remember how embarrassed I would get when the vocal chords would spasm while I was sitting in class while the teacher was lecturing. Everyone would turn around and look at me and the teacher would just glare at me like I was being disruptive and rude on purpose. Thankfully, he didn't decide to take it further and hold me after class.
Avatar m tn t feel any wrong but I still cannot sing anything in falsetto nor head voice. I suppose my vocal chords are still swollen cause the only thing i can hear and feel is the air coming through my chords with no sound while singing in high pitches. Still is it normal to last over 2 weeks already? I am a little afraid I could do something wrong with my voice by drinking alcohol after intensive singing during concert.
Avatar f tn m experiencing problems with my voice. My throat feels kinked, and I can feel my vocal chords strain when I speak. When I sing my chords strain, my range is SHOT, and I can feel that the vocal chords are not moving. Is this normal? Will it subside? What can I do to help this??? I am missing out on a big part of my life that I MISS HORRIBLY.
Avatar f tn Gastro Esophogeal Reflux Disorder, essentially your stomach acid comes up your esophagus causing coughing, hoarseness and sometimes cancer if it is not checked. You should have a Ear, Nose, Throat doctor check your vocal chords. They can place a scope down your nasal passage and into your throat...it isn't pleasant, but they can see if your chords or your throat are being irritated. If you are not on the correct medication for the thyroid, your voice will be tired.
Avatar f tn The lessons you learn there help you to use your voice more carefully and how to prevent any damage to the vocal chords. Just take your time easing in to different ranges - a little at a time each day and you'll seen improvement.
Avatar m tn When it hits the sensitive tissue of the vocal chords it does damage and the response is to produce mucous. It's only been a few days, and you don't give much information to go on, so the simplest thing would be to go to your doctor and get it checked out.
Avatar f tn Trying to speak can damage the vocal chords beyond repair. Use paper and pen and write any messages rather than trying to force a voice. If you have a cough, do this as gently as possible. Do not even whisper. I was 17 when this first happened to me and the doctor gave me the advice I am giving to you now. I had to look after my voice because I loved singing. Although I did sing in public, I didn't become a professional singer.
1198705 tn?1277215574 ve been diagnosed with high risk hpv with one in my throat and possibly one on my vocal chords. That one might be an ulcer from acid reflux. On 2-18 I will have the upper one removed in my dr's office and 3 months of Nexium hopefully will heal the other. Otherwise they will have to knock me out and remove that one too. I plan on posting any developments partly because I can find very little on what I'm going thru.
Avatar n tn I would suggest talking to and ENT about the problem with the vocal chords - they may need to run a scope down your throat to visualize the chords and see what is happening. Continue to drink tons of water to flush out the radiation and use some throat spray to see if that helps but see and ENT.
Avatar n tn constant phlegm in my throat, and my vocal chords seem to be affected. The doctor says it is allergies and has me on Allegra. That helped a whole bunch for months, but now it is back even worse, even though I am still on Allegra. I tried Nasonex too...I have a cough too and I feel like a good antibiotic would clear it all up, but the doctor says no. I just want to feel better . Some of these entries are old...why not write again and tell us what you did to get relief.
Avatar m tn I have tried everything it seems for several years to get rid of this thick mucus that comes and goes in my vocal chords. I went to an ENT again and they went down my throat with a camera and were able to show me on film the thick stringy mucus in my vocal chords.
Avatar m tn That is how I found out about the nodule or places on my vocal chords....but that has been years ago......I don't even remember the doctor I went to. Should I go back to my general practioner....
Avatar m tn I've had problems with my voice for over a year now. For a long time I thought of it as a mucus problem, possibly related to allergies. However, recently I've had many reasons to think it may be something else. About 80% of the time I have some problem or other with my voice. It feels like my vocal chords are covered in thick mucus and I can't talk properly.
