Avatar n tn Your problems sound exactly similar to mine, I have been diagnosed with a larngeal abnormality after an injury in which the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage is rubbing against the hyoid bone, I had occipital headache, jaw and ear pain and crepitus when I rotate or press in on my throat, clicking with swallowing is a treatable condition if you search the medical literature, I am actually getting surgery at UCLA for this condition.
Avatar n tn I was positioned on my left side and instructed to bring my knees up to my chest. She then put a mask over my nose and mouth. I woke up with the worst sore throat of my life. My throat was blood red and it hurt to talk, cough, breath and swallow. I've had strep throat many times and the pain was nothing like that. I gargled with warm salt water, took throat lozenges, etc. and nothing helped.
Avatar f tn About 2.5 weeks ago I started feeling a sore throat on the right side (this side always has bothered me on and off since I had strep in august 2013). I do have TMJ, I clench my jaw at night and often during the day. I have been having ear pain on that side. I did a endoscopy of my nose, ear and throat and the doctor said I was fine, just inflamed. Any ideas why inflammation can last this long?
Avatar n tn I wasn't sure what topic to put this under so I went with colds because I've been sick for a little over a week now. I started out having a really sore throat to the point where I couldn't talk. It cleared up and then I developed a runny nose which also is showing signs of stopping. My throat hasn't hurt for a few days until I woke up today I noticed it was uncomfortable when I swallow.
Avatar f tn A few days ago, on Tuesday I felt my left side of throat hurt when swallowing and yawning and the pain kind of went all the way from the side of my throat to my left ear, I then took medications and put on some gels and the throat part of it fixed, now my left ear just really hurts from the inside when swallowing, yawning and a little bit when talking. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks! Also to mention i have no fever, no dizziness, it's just the ear pain.
Avatar f tn For 3 days now I've had really bad pain on the left side of my throat. Seems to be worse when laying down, the first night it kept me up all night due to the pain with every swallow. It's keeping me from eating, ibuprofen barely helps at all.. Salt water seems to make it hurt worse.. I have no insurance at this time and I don't want to have to go to ER for something like this. The pain is severe enough to put me right to tears, especially first thing in the morning.
Avatar n tn I have a feeling this all started as problems from my seasonal allergies. I have extreme pain in my throat (predominantly left side of throat) when I swallow anything - even hot tea didn't help. I bought some Chloraseptic spray & lozenges, but still no relief. Suggestions?
Avatar n tn Nothing hurts, just a weird feeling of something like a hair tickling the back of my throat on right side. I guess I am just not used to something being back there so it's a weird feeling I guess I have to get used to. It's nice hearing other people's stories, specially when they are similar to yours.
Avatar m tn another thing is that the pain was moving from side to side , for one two days were on the left, the next they were on right and the next on the center.
Avatar f tn When i visited him again he noticed that the swelling got better but i mentioned that i had some pain on the right side of my throat, mostly when swallowing(slight pain). He prescribed antibiotics which didn't make much of a difference(I believe it was Fluconazole). So, 3 months after, i have some sense of a tight throat and a little bit of throat pain that seems to get a little stronger at night and gets better during the day.
Avatar f tn The last one was 2 weeks ago. After the attacks, I would have one sided throat pain when swallowing, Eustachian tube hurt, some ear pain when swallowing. For a week now I have been dealing with the following: neck a little swollen below the ear, possibly glands, and a little pain, off and on mild headaches, top of head, around the ear, base of scalp (Tylenol helps this) this is ALL on the left side. Right ear if I press just a little on the little flap, brings on pain.
678297 tn?1226546462 It started yesterday with a little feeling of bump on my left side of the throat. Now when I woke up it feels like a freaking fork is stuck on the left side of my throat. I can't hardly swallow and when I do it feels like somebody is stabbing me hard on my throat. Worse is the fact that I think it has crept down even further my throat and my chest heavier then it has ever been. I can only tolerate soup and nothing else.
Avatar m tn The pain seems to have subsided somewhat but there definitely feels like a small lump in the throat, just above the adams apple on one side. I feel it when I yawn and cough, but I don't cough a lot or anything. But it does feel like it and its been consistent for 3weeks now really. I'm worried that the only thing it could be is cancer or a tumour, what else could it be because I really don't think its anxiety.
Avatar f tn Hey folks I'm a professional singer, I was 2 weeks into a tour when I started getting a sharp pain on the left side of my throat when swallowing. It started to the left Adam's apple and ran up & down my throat. I went to a clinic and they did a test for strep throat & it came back positive. They gave me a 10 day course of antibiotics (penicillin) to take; which I did. After the course I still felt bad, I went back to the clinic and they ran the same test and said it had gone.
Avatar n tn What is the procedure and can they be removed or is there medication for it? It is causing throat discomfort when eating any suggestions will help.
Avatar f tn Some people mentioned that they also had terrible pain. I found something on the web while I was looking for other info, about glossopharyngeal neuralgia. It's a condition marked by repeated episodes of severe pain in the tongue, throat, ears and tonsils, which can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. It can be triggered by swallowing, chewing, laughing, speaking or coughing. These areas are connected with the 9th cranial nerve. Just thought you might be interested.
Avatar n tn Symptoms started a year ago, feels like my bite is focused on right side everytime I eat or drink, difficulty swallowing, pain in back right side of my throat connecting to my jaw, also pain on right side of Adam’s apple. Right eye twitches when swallowing or sneezing. I’ve seen 2 ENTs, 3 physical therapists, 4 different primary care doctors, my dentist, had CT scan, MRI, X ray of jaw, and a swallowing test. Nothing showing nothing helping.
Avatar f tn Hi! Sorry you don't feel good. I think if you have a sore throat for 8 days, it's worth getting checked out. Sore throats can be viral in which case home care is about all you can do such as gargling with salt water, extra fluids, rest, warm tea and broth (soothing), ibuprofen or Tylenol. Viral sore throat usually only lasts up to 7 days, fyi. Bacterial is just as it says, caused by bacteria with strep throat being the 'famous' one. This requires antibiotics.
Avatar m tn t hurt when i swallow nor do i have trouble swallowing. The pain is coming from left side and i sometimes feel it on the right side though not as often as the left where i first felt it. Could it still the bronchitis? I hope...
Avatar f tn I have had the problem of swallowing my food part, and I have had pain in my chest when I do. I also have problems with choking on my food. I have even had problem just swallowing my own saliva, but now that I think about it I have never told my neuro about it. Guess that is something I should write down to mention to him. There are so many symptoms to keep track of and I can't even remember what I had for breakfast much less what has happened to me in the month since my visit to him.
