What are the possible causes of unilateral (one side only) throat pain? I have had pain (sharp, like a knife or a tearing sensation) in the right side of my throat at about the level of the larynx for well over a month. It is mild until I yawn, then it is very sharp. It radiates into the right ear. I've been searching on the internet, but can't find anything specific besides "unilateral throat pain should be investigated by a physician".
I have noticed on/off for several years that I get a sharp buzzing pain on the left side of my head in the throat area. It happens once in a great while where I will be fine one minute and then all of a sudden I get this sharp buzzing pain, then after a few seconds it goes away. I have only had this about 1-2x every 6months-1year but when it comes it is really painful and scares me. No other symptoms.
It eventually turned into a sharp pain in the bottom of my throat, and eventually into a sore throat then went away without knowing what it was. This lasted about a month and i forgot about it. Today i noticed a sharp pain while i was breathing. It hurts my whole chest but starts in the sternum. I thought it was a continuation of pain through the knots in my back (minor scoliosis) but i noticed by the end of the day that this is exactly how that strange sore throat felt like last time!
I have recently recovered from a sore throat and I am now experiencing sharp pains in my ear and behind my ear. There is no signs of swelling or anything like that but I have been experiencing neck stiffness and pain for the last week aswell. On top of that I have had sharp pains in my elbows and knee joints and was wondering if this could be down to having the cold or something more serious.

I'm 18 years old and for the past three weeks i've been having this sharp pain every time I swallow something. It hurts so bad. It switches sides. for a couple of days it's the left side, then the right, or both. i'm not really sure what is causing it. I've been sucking on cough drops, taking medicine, and gargling with warm salt water/ baking soda. Nothing is working. Like when I try and eat, I just want to cry.

I have had for a few months sharp, severe pain in upper throat on swallowing salad dressing or mayonnaise that has vinegar or fruit juice in it. No other symptoms. I find only supraglotteal cancer listed when I look on the Net for what this can be a symptom of. My ENT doctor had me get a barium swallow (stomach through larynx or most of larynx) which looked normal, and will be doing a more thorough exam (down-through-the-nose tube light, in-office); my mouth looked normal enough.

About 4 years ago me and some friends were hanging out and one of them made me laugh extremely hard. In the middle of laughing my adams apple "popped". There was a sharp pain and extreme discomfort. Some days its not too noticable but on other days it extremely annoying.

It's been four days that I've had sharp pain across my chest, especially on the right side. When I breathe in, I feel that my right nostil has a strange sensation, it feels almost completely clear but watery, I have to swallow hard which hurts when I breathe. I can be sitting relaxed in chair and move to pick up a cup sand get this sharp pain under my rib on the right side. This pain is intermitent and I will be doing physical work and have no problem. I had a sharp stabbing, electrifying pain in my throat region that was felt upon swallowing, coughing, drinking, eating and talking. After dealing with my PCP for several weeks, I insisted to be seen by an ENT. He diagnosed my situation as glossopharyngeal neuralgia. I was put on gabapentin twice a day and it helped for a while although I had break through pain. The dosage was increased approximately a year later after being sent to a neurosurgeon.
A few days ago my inner ear started hurting and has since gotten worse. It is a very sharp, painful stabbing pain that comes and goes. It also hurts really bad when I take a drink of something really hot or really cold. The outside of my ear is now tender to the touch. It also hurts when I burp. 10 days before I got sharp pain in my neck and later on I always feel there something stuck in my throat and later on pain in righ side of the neck and now having ear pain with it ...I checked up with doctor he has given me some medicine and said take medicine and show me after 10 days if again same problem then we need to do sonography.... Can this be throat cancer i smoke and now I quit ....
It's a little weird about 3 weeks ago I started to develop a sharp burning pain in the roof of my mouth soon after eating , afterwards by about 30mns everything went away ... Then by time the pain became more aggravated by mouth movements like yawning talking ... Then few days ago the pain became persistent but in a low grade pattern like a cold then it became again burning severe after eating and aggravated by the same factors mentioned before ..
For three days now I have had sporadic sharp shooting pain in my right ear and the right side of my head. Sometimes the pain shoots only in the ear or only in the head or both at the same time. It lasts only a second. I have no other symptoms and don't have allergies. Also the right side of my throat is very slightly sore or irritated occasionally since this started. There doesn't seem to be any method to it. I may have it happen twice in a minute then go 20 minutes without it.
The pain starts in my chest into my back, through my throat and into the roof of my mouth. It is an incapacitating pain and even after the sharp pain leaves there is a dull pain that lingers. I thought that this pain was due to a really bad chest cold that I had suffered from but now that I am all cleared up the pain still comes at random times at least once a day.

I have been having chest pains on the right side. It seems like something sharp stuck in my throat, but then again nothing is there. It's almost like a burning or stabbing pain, and it get's better when I drink water, or when I take a nap the pain is gone, but comes back in like 30 minutes, it sometimes gets better or worse. I feel good overal. I got an x-ray of my chest, bloodwork, cardiogram, and all came out fine.
Last sunday while sitting in the boarding room waiting for my flight, I suddenly have a very bad pain in my chest, followed by pain in my throat and sharp pain in my teeth and also my head. It was so painful that my tears also come out. Few years back I ever did ecg test but the result is good. Few years back I also experienced a sudden change in heart beat. The heart beat suddenly very fast and normally i will not move myself until it back to normal. If i move i might collapse.
