Avatar f tn The doctor suspected inflammation of the ligaments and prescribed a non-steroid/pain reliever. After a week it has gotten worse, not better. I am constantly checking for blood in cough. Had a chest xray for work during the summer..they check for TB because I work with the school system. I would hope if they saw anything they would have notified me. Does anyone with a doctor's degree have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn My 12 year old son has been having pain in his upper left quadrant of his stomach, under the rib cage. We went to hospital and they mentioned it was his bowels backed up in the intestines. Weeks later and he started having these pains again, so i was given him a gas reliever as they told me to give him. He is still having these pains with black stool, headache and sore throat. what type of test should I request and what could be wrong?
626646 tn?1242907042 Use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. You can also OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or zyrtec for some days and see if they provide relief or not. Some chronic cases may need oral steroids or steroid nasal sprays and antibiotics. These can be taken only after prescription. Allergic rhinitis may need immunotherapy in chronic cases.
Avatar f tn Propanolol is given for a variety of reasons to include anxiety, tremors, migraines, high BP, angina and others. It can cause some odd feelings when first starting it. I don't understand this being prescribed to you for your symptoms. The Codamol is a pain reliever, but it soundsa like you needed an antibiotic. I doubt that you would be feeling any effects after two weeks from these two drugs but we never know.
Avatar f tn Yes Tylenol is the main approved pain reliever just be sure to follow the label.
Avatar f tn Even though the pain only lasts for a brief time go ahead and take a pain reliever (I recommend Excedrin for migraines) and that should knock them out.

Avatar f tn Sometimes they can give you some drops to put in your ear that work much better than an oral pain reliever such as Tylenol. They may also want/need to give you another round of antibiotics if the ear is infected. Meanwhile, some things I do when I have an earrache is to make a warm compress by running a washcloth under very warm (not hot) water and then ringing out the excess - then I hold this warm compress to the ear that is hurting.
