I had a colonoscopy four days ago and the anesthesiologist told me I would be given Propofol to sedate me and only if there were problems there was a chance that I might be intubated which might chip my teeth. I was positioned on my left side and instructed to bring my knees up to my chest. She then put a mask over my nose and mouth. I woke up with the worst sore throat of my life. My throat was blood red and it hurt to talk, cough, breath and swallow.
When i visited him again he noticed that the swelling got better but i mentioned that i had some pain on the right side of my throat, mostly when swallowing(slight pain). He prescribed antibiotics which didn't make much of a difference(I believe it was Fluconazole).
So, 3 months after, i have some sense of a tight throat and a little bit of throat pain that seems to get a little stronger at night and gets better during the day.
I have had the problem of swallowing my food part, and I have had pain in my chest when I do. I also have problems with choking on my food. I have even had problem just swallowing my own saliva, but now that I think about it I have never told my neuro about it. Guess that is something I should write down to mention to him.
There are so many symptoms to keep track of and I can't even remember what I had for breakfast much less what has happened to me in the month since my visit to him.
A few days ago, on Tuesday I felt my left side of throat hurt when swallowing and yawning and the pain kind of went all the way from the side of my throat to my left ear, I then took medications and put on some gels and the throat part of it fixed, now my left ear just really hurts from the inside when swallowing, yawning and a little bit when talking. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks! Also to mention i have no fever, no dizziness, it's just the ear pain.
I have had for a few months sharp, severe pain in upper throat on swallowing salad dressing or mayonnaise that has vinegar or fruit juice in it. No other symptoms. I find only supraglotteal cancer listed when I look on the Net for what this can be a symptom of. My ENT doctor had me get a barium swallow (stomach through larynx or most of larynx) which looked normal, and will be doing a more thorough exam (down-through-the-nose tube light, in-office); my mouth looked normal enough.
I feel no chest pain no groin pain, heart feels a little agitated but what bothers me the most is horrible, unbearable pain in my throat that runs up to my ear; I can barely swallow (couldn't even take pills for pain), I can't eat, I can't talk and even drinking warm water is painful. I am desperate, I thought sleeping would make it better but it didn't. I was in tears until 12am, I am desperate and all they can say it was the probe and it will go away.
Also, I constantly feel like I have a lump in my throat while eating and sometimes have diffuculty swallowing, especially solid food. Food seems to catch at the top of my throat. It also seems like the more/longer I eat, the harder it is to swallow. I also have lots of phlegm during/after I eat. I guess I have a few questions.
1. What things should I be explaining/asking my physician to allow for a quicker diagnosis/resolution to my symptoms?

I AM SUFFERING FROM BLOATING, BELCHING, BURPING, ESPECIALLY AFTER I EAT I SUFFER FOR HOURS WITH DISCOMFORT IN THROAT AS IF FOOD IS STUCK IN IT, AND I FEEL I NEED TO BURP BUT IT IS DIFFICULT TO DO SO, ALSO GET TERRIBLE PAIN IN MY UPPER BACK, HAVE A STRANGE SENSATION IN MY THROAT FROM TIME TO TIME AS WELL, NOT A SORE THROAT JUST A STRANGE FEELING, HARD TO EXPLAIN. LANZAPROZOLE DOESNT HELP, WAITING TO GET CAMERA DOWN, ANY SUGGESTIONS, IM THINKING THE WORSE.
I am just curios if anyone has experienced this. About a year and a half ago, I had a severe asthma episode and coschondrits for the first time. I was put on a 2 week coarse of Prednisone along with ibuprofen. By the end I had developed an issue swallowing pills. Even my small thyroid ones felt like they got stuck. Then it progressed to coughing up small hard bits of food, severe reflux, etc.
He did an ultrasound and said that the thyroid was enlarged, but not to worry. Every time I tell him about my throat and swallowing problem, he says that it is nothing to worry about. Should I be seeing a specialist?
I have severe throat pain on left side mainly underneath jaw and at bottom of throat. Seems to be set off by acidic foods, or swallowing bulky rough items. I have never had a sore throat like this before -- I have no other symptoms no cold, no runny nose, no cough etc. It has not gotten any better after a kind of 2 day onset 6 days ago. Yawning really hurts severely.
The last one was 2 weeks ago. After the attacks, I would have one sided throat pain when swallowing, Eustachian tube hurt, some ear pain when swallowing. For a week now I have been dealing with the following: neck a little swollen below the ear, possibly glands, and a little pain, off and on mild headaches, top of head, around the ear, base of scalp (Tylenol helps this) this is ALL on the left side. Right ear if I press just a little on the little flap, brings on pain.
I am male and a CSW gave me an unprotected oral sex, after 21 days (3 weeks) I did have a discomfort in my throat (pain swallowing and scratchy) the following day it was gone but still have a feeling tightness in the throat that makes constant swallowing, after I arrived from work. I have no trouble sleeping.
I have no fever or headache but I also have some muscle pains during this time.
I do have TMJ, I clench my jaw at night and often during the day. I have been having ear pain on that side. I did a endoscopy of my nose, ear and throat and the doctor said I was fine, just inflamed. Any ideas why inflammation can last this long? I was concerned with cancer but she told me she saw and felt nothing cancerous in my tonsil and throat. My ear is functioning properly but has pressure.
Test results were that my throat is having many spazms while swallowing. My biggest symptom is my throat locks with no warning.(Very frightening) I'm told my test showed very abnormal. The Dr. was arrogant and had no empathy. So I will see my other Dr. for the prognosis. I hope to hear from others. I am 65 years old and retired.
Sorry for your throat troubles. Yes, I have read that swallowing difficulties are part of the deal--makes sense, since your esophagus has muscles that contract rhythmically to push the food to your stomach, and there must be nerves controlling that. I've had a little trouble with a spastic throat, nothing as serious as you, however.
While receiving an uncovered BJ from a girl (April 2010), as she went down, her mouth injured my penis. I felt a pain inside the head of my penis. I went to the clinic in May 2010. Nothing was found but they gave me some anti-biotics (5/2010). June 2010 I went back to the clinic as I still have a slight irritation inside head of penis from time to time. Does GERD cause throat pain? I will just get this dull aching pain feeling in the bottom of my throat. I don't think it is from eating though. I usually get it when I am stressed or excited about something or I've noticed when I get really angry and arguing about something. Is this normal? It really concerns me because it makes me feel like it's something else since it only happens from emotions and stress and not eating.
