Avatar f tn I have pain in my throat below my adams apple. It seems a little like heartburn or reflux but it doesn't go away. It gets worse when I lie down or sit up. I have cervical misalignment and thought it was related to that. I went to doctor she said I had an ear infection and gave me an antibiotic.
Avatar f tn For over four months I have had a feeling (globus) sensation in my throat below the Adam's apple with and without swallowing. I also have occasional pain that moves around on the sides under the Adam's apple and can be pretty intense after eating. Sometimes but not always my throat also tightens and I feel like I am choking and it is somewhat more difficult to breathe about 15-20 mins after eating. Also, after talking for a while my voice starts to get rough.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am having what looks like a slightly larger appearance of a "heart-like strip" below my adam's apple. I can feel a mile (nearly non-existent) ache always from that area. My doctor tells me it is my thyroid. It looks like it is mildly swelled up, and has been there for 4-5 days. A few weeks ago, I had a wisdom tooth extracted, and had swelling and slight pain in the surgical site areas.
Avatar n tn The AACE recommends to do the thyroid neck check in this case: Hold the mirror so that you can see the area of your neck just below the Adam's apple and right above the collarbone. This is the general location of your thyroid gland. Tip your head back, while keeping this view of your neck and thyroid area in your mirror. Take a drink of water and swallow. As you swallow, look at your neck.
Avatar m tn Went to get a endescopy I had a little bit of redness on the lower part of the esophagus I still have that twitching pain on the left side top of my Adam's apple and a scratchy feeling on my throat throat feel heavy

Avatar m tn I have been overly stressed about my throat issue. It feels tight below the Adam's apple and i feel like constantly clearing my throat when it triggers. I have on occasions had sex with escorts. Always with condom vaginal and without condom oral sometimes. Giving and receiving. One time an escort squirted in my mouth. However, in Jan 2019, i had an episode of unsafe sex with an escort. It lasted for perhaps 5 mins.
659608 tn?1318289366 You could be experiencing pain and swelling in your thyroid, which is called "goiter". It's just an inflammation of the thyroid. The thyroid is a little, butterfly shaped gland, just below the Adam's apple. It consists of two lobes, one on either side of the throat and an isthmus that connects the two in the middle. Thyroiditis is inflammation of the thyroid, but there are several kinds of thyroiditis. Some are temporary, and some are permanent.
Avatar m tn It has now been 30 hours since my procedure and I still have pain in my neck / throat. This was the first endoscopy that I've ever had. I was told that this is a minor and routing procedure that I would not feel or have lasting effects from. I have found this NOT to be the case.
Avatar m tn There are several small muscles that could be affected. About where you are indicating is something called the Hyoid bone to which several muscle attach. There are a few possibilities here. The Hyoid bone could be broken, a tendon or muscle could be bruised/strained, even your voice box could be bruised. Given how long it has been since the injury occured, this would not likely get worse or cause any airway/swallowing problems.
Avatar m tn Hello I am new to this forum and help i can get help to resolve my question. I have sore throat from more than 3 months and feeling like small lump on the neck below the adam's apple in the right side. It comes and goes frequently. What it may be?
Avatar m tn I recall my throat was sore in the area of my Adam's Apple during the early months of my treatment. Not a typical sore throat. And I was always having to clear my throat.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your input. It's now been 3 months since I have quit drinking, but am still having a hard time just not smoking at all, seems to be more a a social give in than anything, in about 3 months I have maybe had 20 cigarettes socially. Shortly after I posted, I seen the doctor, and he said everything seems to be fine, and that if the problem with my throat worsened that I would be referred to and Ear Nose & Throat doctor.
Avatar n tn I had a pretty bad coughing fit earlier in the day - so bad that I could feel a ligament in my throat (like adam's apple) kind of "pop" (not literally) and get really strained when I guess I tried to hold the cough in on a call. If I swallow now, it's tender a few hours later. It doesn't look swollen, just feels like it has been injured from the cough. Took regular pain killers, but anything you suggest to treat this? Or give it time?
862235 tn?1336060295 I've had sore throat(s) for about 2 months now. It's usually around my larynx, sometimes above, sometimes below. It also affects the area right below the left ear sometimes. It's not always there, just usually. I had it for a month then it went away for about three or four days. Then it came back for a couple of weeks and went away again for almost a week. It ranges in severity, when it's there, from mildly annoying to absolutely excruciating.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with IBS, and recently I've noticed a flutter in the upper center of my chest, right where the top of my collar bone dips slightly in, maybe 3 inches below my adam's apple. No chest pain, and I don't feel a weird heartbeat. It used to happen frequently then stopped now it's happening again. I don't know what it is, any ideas?
Avatar f tn I apologize if I have put this in the wrong section. I am unsure what to call it due to the doctors not having a name for it. For over a year now, my 10 year old daughter will get strep or a throat virus and a couple of days later as it is clearing up she develops a large lump right on top of where her adam's apple is. It ranges in size from grape size to golf ball size. She has been looked at by her pediatrician as well as an ENT with Children's Hospital.
Avatar m tn Hi All, I had sustained a strangulation injury last year which caused some pain initially for a few weeks when swallowing. The pain has subsided completely, But I am left with a foreign body sensation in the throat on the left side just beside the adam's apple. It feels as if the thyroid cartilage has tilted a little to the right. I have difficulty in swallowing (Dysphagia with dry swallow especially). Also, my speech has seemed to become mildly effortful to start speaking.
Avatar m tn I wonder if anyone can throw some light on something that has been bothering me badly for the last week or so. It actually started about 3 years ago but is usually ok. I feel like I need to take a deep breath all the time but my throat (below the Adam's apple) feels tight. I think this tightness is what makes me want to take a deep breath. I'm on bisoprolol for heart palpitations and I worry that this tightness is related to my heart.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've been having similar issues. Sore throat at base of tongue (almost feels like an ulcer on the tongue), scalloped tongue, mild ear pain/itchiness--all this on the left--some hoarseness and coughing. ENT said he saw absolutely nothing upon scoping the throat. No blood work was done. Have a followup in 3 weeks. This is just exhausting to me. I mentioned thyroid at the ENT, nurse said that swelling/symptoms are usually lower, under Adam's apple.
Avatar f tn Hey folks I'm a professional singer, I was 2 weeks into a tour when I started getting a sharp pain on the left side of my throat when swallowing. It started to the left Adam's apple and ran up & down my throat. I went to a clinic and they did a test for strep throat & it came back positive. They gave me a 10 day course of antibiotics (penicillin) to take; which I did. After the course I still felt bad, I went back to the clinic and they ran the same test and said it had gone.
Avatar n tn For over 20 years, my adam's apple has been crooke. Once a month of so, it seems to "catch" or move around. Generally this happens in my sleep and scares me, taking my breath away. Any help??
207227 tn?1271416978 I have had a throat click at the level of the Adam's apple right below the jaw right side since December 2007.
