I was lying in bed just now when i felt a liquid stream out of my left nostril, i thought it was a nose bleed until i turned on the light and saw that it was a bright yellow color. Not very much came out but it was very watery unlike mucus. I have recently gotten over a viral throat infection that lasted about a week and a half and still am slightly congested from that. What could this liquid be? spinal fluid? or just strange mucus left over from the sickness? should i go to the ER?

What started as a sore throat has affected my lungs, difficulty breathing,(mainly exhaling)(raspy sound in throat when exhaling) coughing up rust, white and yellow mucus. I start to feel better, and then bam it gets worse. now it feels like there is gross mucus trapped in my lungs, & i dont know how to get it out. Dear ZigoMan i am allergic to any kind of smoke. at present yellow mucus stopped but i am getting a lot of cough and because if which my throat is getting swollen. and if i sleep under fan or if i get exposed to cold air i am getting itching in side my lungs.

I still get the mucus to teh back of my throat and occasional earache and headache but not all teh time. I get yellow mucus from right nostril only. I have bad breath too. I will go back to my dr. in 2 weeks if this doesn't work.

It was just a cold with stuffy nose and drowsiness. When I would blow my nose, the mucus was bright orange with blood in it. 4 days later I am starting to get headaches and even if I just sit there, my nose will pour. I have had a stuffy nose for the last few days that is worse at night and mornings. It started out with clear mucus, but since yesterday has turned yellow with blood in it, especially in the mornings. I also feel bad, but have had no fever. I get cold easily. Is this just a cold or a sinus infection? I know my immune system is low because I had tongue cancer surgery this past May, with a nasal feeding tube initially put in after surgery, and a trach also.

I can also, using the back of my tongue, force up great amounts of thick dark yellow mucus that is mixed with blood. This is unlike any sinus infection or throat infection I have ever had before. Could this be gonorrhea of the throat? If not, then what is it?

About 2 days after this incident, I developed a sore throat, nasal congestion with bright yellow mucus, headache, and a low grade (100 degree F) fever. Are these signs of a developing herpes infection at all, or is it more likely I just caught an upper respiratory infection?
